Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Morning All,

Doc I too have been seriously considering doing speckled sussex...seem like very good birds.

Bigz I hear you about health insurance. I won't even get started. Aargh!

Temps are climbing into the high 30s here today, according to the folks who know. Little bit of a heat wave! Then rain tomorrow??? The gods must know that I got snowshoes for Xmas!

Good morning to you! Sure looks frosty out there today...when is this "heat wave" coming in? (not that I am looking forward to the mud....) Starting to get the gardening bug though--man, it's not even January! I swear it comes earlier and earlier every year...
DrH--I thought if you had the Sheriff come that you dont have to have a tag to take the deer? I know when we got two a few years back he put something on them that said it was OK to have them. Was it because your BFF didnt actually hit it? Good on him that he stopped and saw to what needed to be done. Sad that they would just leave her to suffer! THen probably something else would come along to eat her up and get hit by a car too...glad he took care of it! I am sure you will get "bonus meat" for your helping efforts....then you can have "venzun and fries" this week along with BigZ! Twin brothers of a different Mother....
So I have the day off until 7 tonight...what to do? what to do? I think the mill and the grocery store are calling to me...I want to make this slow cooker tapioca pudding for the fam, (I cant stand the stuff!) but I need 2 quarts of milk and I dont have it. I sure wish my neighbor would stop being afraid of her cow and get to milking her! I MISS that milk! The dog park is calling too and I have some very rambunctious dogs right now! If it would get just a little warmer I could clean out the barn a bit...maybe staple up some more plastic...oh yeah, I should do that in the basement on the back door too....OK--I guess I have my whole day planned out now! (that was sure easy) Now to actually DO IT! A whole other story!

Raiquee--so glad that you have a good relationship with your Dad and he can calm your fears a little bit! It is always nice to have someone older and wiser to help that way...

Chris D--do you really think that a cat would get your chickens? I am not sure about Silkies but I have strays that wonder in and out around here on occasion and they LOVE to be in the coop...I believe they are hunting mice though. Now that I got this new poison though the mice are finally under control! YEAH!

It is called Rampage and I got it from F&F. It has Bromethalaine(?) Bromide(?) in it and they are supposed to eat less...all Iknow is that they are gone! I was starting to get a little creeped out by the numbers in there in the beginning of November. Some people suggested picking up the feed for the night but I like the girls to have access when their lights go on at midnight! I dont know what they would all do cooped up in there if they couldnt eat...
OK--time to get moving here...before I decide to go back up to bed! I am very tired all of a sudden! Must be too much typing...have a fantastic day everyone! Terri O

(PS) H&R...any pips yet?

Hey DrH- so that was you blowing your horn the other day- we are about 4 to 5 miles from the 90-94 split on the 94 side! LOL

Terry O we just went into lock down today, candled removed 3 eggs and set 14 with 12 eggs showing good promise and 2 Maybes so I guess we'll see.

Nice to read how everyone is doing, have a good one!

TO) Not to sound rude about my dad, but I use him as an example moreso so I can tell myself "Never turn out like that!"

My dad is a great guy, but not the greatest with money. Had to file for bankruptcy and that is something I plan on NEVER doing. (Although I don't think anyone "plans" on it, but he took it for the "easy" way out). He loves listening to me talking about money because he gets so many good ideas off me. I am proud of how hard we strived to have what we have now. We are really blessed.
I also reeeally have the gardening bug. Hubby keeps telling me it's not even January! Heck if I care!!
I owe you a PM, I'm so lax about those! I read em and forget em! I'll do it today sometime lol

Alright guys, I have a freezer full of tilapia filets. Individually frozen. Had some from Aldi's and then DH's dad went and bought ANOTHER 5lb bag. HELP! I'm up to my neck in tilapia! lol. Any good recipes? Sometimes we fry them (i'm sooo not a fan of fried fish tho. ) and I also make "fish packets" with them with butter, lemon, garlic and onions. I also have half a pineapple in the fridge..maybe I can whip up a "sorta-kinda" pineapple salsa? I think I only have some onions, maybe a tom...doubt it. Onion and pineapple doesn't sound too good by itself lol. I am not a big fan of the texture of tilapia (at least frozen) it's kinda mushy.

Raiquee--not a fan of that fish either! Although I do have some in the freezer...they do seem tasteless and mushy to me too!
I am snacking on some Christmas popcorn and the chili is in the micro...we just got back form a horse ride! So fun! We were racing and my dd18s horse kicked at mine...got my knee do I will be hobbling for a bit! OK--chili is done then off to work! Have a great night everyone! Terri O

ETA: Just got a call from my client's sister...my client broke her hip refilling the toilet paper!

I am so in shock! She is a pretty sturdy lady; I am surprised that this happened. I am waiting for a call from the hospital--I guess she has to have surgery and everything! Please pray for her..her name is Bernadette. Thank+ you!!!!!

Only me and the bird in the house. The other animals are outside and the kids are gone. Dh is on his way home though. Drove the girls up north this morning. Boy am I tired and all I did was drive. Met my mom in Clintonville (half way point) and away they went until Sunday. Don't get me wrong I love my girls, but lately?

All they do is bicker back and forth. Who am I kidding by tomorrow night I'll be waiting for them to come home and missing them.

I got things that sparkle this christmas, which is huge for my Dh as it pains him to by jewlery. BCC- I'll take some extra's. I would love some MFC. I think you girl is stunning! Congrats by the way on the win!
Well I'm off to enjoy the rest of the night. Take care all!

Evening All... Congats on the snowshoes for Christmas BBCB! I took a long treck on mine today up in the wooded ridge here. The heart was thumping and the lungs were burning...figured I'd go while the conditions were here. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
We enjoy the talipia here....always nice and flaky if we fry it in the fry daddy. If we poor man's it in the oven, it is deelicious. It's never ever mushy?
Way to go with the venzun Doc... glad your buddy saved the precious red meat! it's a shame how much is wasted that is never claimed by drivers on the road.

I'm gonna have to shovel out the pen areas of the coops so the birds can stretch a leg or two. They look out the pop hole, but need something other than snow to venture out onto. I suppose they are waitin for me to geter done. Smart birds for sure.

Stay Safe... ~ bigzio

Hey all!

I made fish tacos. They were yummy. Coated the fish with some cayenne pepper and pan seared in chili oil. Made a fresh pineapple salsa, and topped it with just a sprinkle of shredded pepper jack cheese. Hubby was happy

Even DS said "Oh mommy, this yummy!" I ate the remaining tomato, and nearly cried. It tasted so...like nothing! I miss my garden already! Why did I have to get pregnant and get so sick I couldn't look at my garden in the fall months. Boo

Was looking at seeds. I want to try a watermelon plant this year, as we haven't tried one since my mom ran our garden at our house when I was a kid. I never thought melons did good in our zone, but the farmers stand 10 minutes down the road has sugar baby watermelons and those yellow watermelons (which I don't recommend). So, I may get some sugar baby melon seeds and give it a go. They are suppossed to mature in 75 days. Has anyone grown a melon (cantalope or watermelon) that did good up here? Same with bell pepper plants. Any varieties that actually produce a decent size fruit?

I'm driving myself crazy wanting to garden right now. Oh well I will be SO prepared come spring!

we do melons, water ans mush/cantaloupe, all by seed. the only time we have a problem is when we have a cool/cold summer.
got my seeds of change catalog today haven't gotten one of those while
