Good evening all! WOW--I cant even begin to address all the news shared on here! THe family is at the hockey game so I have a few moment to myself--
I just finished boiling and peeling 3 dozen button eggs (or so) and putting them into a vinegar solution to make my friend some pickled egg for her Martinis! Wow, my thumbs are sore from peeling! The coolest thing though...the eggs are brown and spotted and when you peel them the insides are BLUE! Blue like Robin's egg blue! So pretty! I ate a few of the tiny eggs that didnt peel well...MMMM they are very tasty!
I am enjoying the quiet and a Sam Adam cream stout that my GF got me for my birthday...we went to this store that I could pick my own 6 pack. I am going to enjoy every one of them myself too...probably NOT all tonight though!
Hey last night I did a fun thing with my son...I was watching ME TV (M*A*S*H, Mary Tyler Moore, Cheers and then The Bob Newhart Show!) So I was thinking about in college when we played "BOB the drinking game" so me and my son played it! I think I had a hangover this morning too! AACK! It seemed like we drank way more in college though...I think I must have forgotten some of the rules...definitely a good thing!
So
to all the newest additions! New chatters and new babies! (and soon to be babies) Pretty soon we are going to have to find a park for our 2nd annual BigZio Bash! And the start the planning! It will be here before we know it and I am so looking forward to seeing everyone again!
Gotta head outside now...I gave the chickens some snacks and noticed that they had dumped their water AGAIN! I have to figure out some other place for the ducks to go...they are making a big mess out of my coop. Oh one thing I remembered...the frostbite on the combs...it is mostly from too high of humidity in the coop and lack of ventilation; not actual cold (according to information elsewhere on this site) The frostbitten points will drop off and the roo will be fine and next year his points wont freeze cause they are gone! I dont think it makes them look ugly...they just look kinda like they were dubbed. My Anconas will be affected severely I think--they have such tall pointy combs! And you are right Amyable...they are wild fellas!
Good night and sweet dreams everyone! Terri O
ETA: The geese I have dont fly (much) They can get off the ground for short distances but not really fly like wild ones do. If you want eggs or goslings in spring I will have 'em! They are Toulouse and are also very delicious!
