Ok, I realized I have gone quite chicken mad!

As I was cleaning out the fridge. to put the new groceries in, I noticed about 1/4 of it is CHICKEN food! Then I got their mash ready with all the "goodies" for DH to put hot water on and take out in the morning. The mash that I COOK up a months worth at a time, and DEHYDRATE into CHICKEN CHOW!

That's not all... My girls DO NOT like the snow! so, I spread straw in their run so they don't have to get their little feet in the snow. When it's really cold they won't go out for more than a few minuets, if at all, so I let them run in the adjoined greenhouse. This led to even more spoiling! They discovered some of my larger pots still had dirt in them and were just big enough for a chicken to fit in!

They have 4 pots dug out as chicken baths!

I wish I brought the camera to the coop the day I had a "chicken in every pot"!

It was a chicken Bath House!

I laughed so hard I scared the chickens! So, yesterday I got a bag of some nice clean sand and a tub just for them!

They are good girls though and worth it! Still getting an average of 5 eggs a day from 8 hens... not bad!

Tomorrow/Sun. I'm going to pack up whats left of my potting soil! I also have to do a bit of cleaning in there and give them some fresh straw. Looks like more snow coming, and it could be ALLOT! Then we get more really COLD!

I'm so sick of cold, and snow, and cold!

Good morning Everyone! After reading all that I need to go back to bed. Whew! Cindlady you made think of what I saw yesterday. Buster was leading the parade back to the coop and was walking like he had stepped in something, it was just the snow.

Think this is going to be the warmest for a while so going to clean out and refresh the coop with new bedding. Almost forgot.

marke obviously your already finding out that there's a lot of good people here. TO always glad to make someone laugh! Have to agree with the way too cute pics ODrH That second one is a killer! Congrats Bigz on the tag, one of these years I'm going to get back into it. I know how much you'll enjoy that. Got my garden finialized and am ordering this morning. Better get to it. Have a great one! Dang it Bigz now I'm thinkin beer would go good with coop cleaning.

Congrats!! on the pips!
I will have to go get some sand and something to hold it in for my chooks!!
We had a bonanza of eggs yesterday, 2 bantam, 1 EE egg, 1 white jumbo and 1 brown.

Pretty good for only having 5 big hens that actually lay, and 2 out of 4 bantams old enough to lay.
The new kids haven't but are in a darker section of the barn, so don't expect much till spring, and when they are out of QT.

The sun sure feels good here today. It's definitely a one or two can job Doc! Hard to do a decent job with parched lips...

Hi Marke! Glad you could join us.

So I just had a first..... I went out to feed the birds and then gather eggs. One of my BA girls was in there squatting. I watched my first egg lay!

I thought it was pretty cool. Cant wait to tell hubby. His lazy bones is still in bed!

Omg it was soooooo warm. I just wanted to press it to my cheek and cuddle with it. LOL

Morning, seems like a nice day today-probably go and open the run doors so the birds can come out for a bit, cleaned pens early this week so they are enjoying the fresh shavings- collected 12 eggs yesterday out of 14 that could be laying with 3 more looking like they are getting close...

enjoy the day, we are going to band all the chickens that don't have bands and take some up dated pictures.

It seems we maybe a bad influence on each other Bigz. Nah! We are who we are! Busted out laughin about the DST. I with ya bro! The kids think it's xmas with the new straw in there. Straws a flyin! Scratchin and lookin. Their havin a ball! Me too. Mag isn't that cool seeing it? Surprised one of my sex links last year she stood up in the nest box and plop.

I love my chickens!

Man is it nice out there with the sun shinin! It's comin people.
