Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Ok I have to rant and figured this is the best place to do it. So Dh's step brother has this dog. Basically his wife said me or the dog. The dog is 10 and the step brother has had the dog all 10 years. Cruel right, but the dog has some issues. Has to take medicine because it basically has Addison's disease for dogs. Well I tell DH, fine we'll take the dog, don't really want another as we already have 2, but can't see putting a dog down because of the owner's right?! Well have had the dog for two weeks and it drives me crazy. Paces constantly, whines and barks all the time. They had her in the kitchen most of the time, locked in there. Well that's not how we work here and she can go anywhere, with some limits. Thought maybe that was the problem at first, maybe she didn't know what to do with all the space, well now she just drives me up the wall!!! Is like a shadow and I'm constantly tripping over her. She barks at the horses and goats. Got smacked the first time she saw the chickens because all she wanted to do was eat their food, but I still don't trust her with them. When a quail escaped the other day she tried to eat it.

Heres the thing though, I tried to do something nice and it's coming back to bite me. I really want her to be a good dog and want her to work out. Dh keeps telling me wait until spring and then she can move outside and it may be better. I'm not one to give up on a challenge but this maybe one that is to much for me. Oh and did I mention that she is a Plott hound. A big, slobbery, loud one too. Drools with food, farts all the time.
Ok I'm done. Thanks for listening. I always joke that we have the statue of liberty at the end of our driveway for animals. You know "I'll take your sick, hungry, poor...."

On the bright side we have 3 foot drifts infront of the door and I can't get into the garage even if I wanted too. Oh and it's just starting. I think I'm going to bake something that always makes me feel better. Later

Becky, the dog is going through an anxiety period. Think about it; new house, new things, new rules, new people....... Give her a break, people don't adjust well to situations like that but we expect our animals to? Maybe jsu tossing her into the fray was a bit too much for her. Do you have a crate for her in the house? You might want to crate her at first when you are working around the house so she can feel safe, then slowly let her have access to more and more of the house.... just tossing ideas out here for you. Gas issues might be the type of food you are feeding her; our Boxer/Lab has issues if she eats anything other than Nutro dog food.

Jim, Annarie also has calls. I believe she has fawn (or butterscotch), and white ones.

I also have a Buff colored call I would like to re-home if anybody would like her!

I have a great memory,,,,but it is very short..

I have not been outside yet today.. have to be with mom every moment or she does strange things.. Annie just came home from work, so now I am free to do some things, like feed and water the birds..

A friend just came in with his pick-up and did an in-and-out plow of the driveway and he was gone.. He must have been just going by.. I just have to clean up the yard with the tractor, now..

we got only about 3" of the light fluffy stuff..

I will check with Karen and see what colors she was looking for with the call ducks.. she told me a couple of times, (see line 1 above)

I thought kripes that's the Jim that I met at the Bash. Oh the memories I've forgotten.

How did your leg heal up from the grinder incident? Made me cringe with memories of pain. Glad your back on! I keep looking for an Eagle hitch for my Case but think it's probably for the better that I don't find one. But man it would be fun! Think I had a 5" total with fresh stuff. The kids are happy that it's scraped off down to the ground. It's all about them.

Becky that hound kinda sounds like a description of me. Hope you can get things worked out. TO I have a hard time seeing the water in the bator too, I used a strip of paper to dip in the well to tell if there was any in there. It's lunch time!

BL4- Yeah I know. I hate that she drives me crazy. We did crate her or actually gate her off in the laundry room the first couple days when she was here, but all she did was bark and cry. I do send her in there when she is making me crazy now though. I know that some dogs feel the need to constantly "protect and patroll" their area, so I assume that is part of her anxiety too. I know a new place and people, came from a not so great place. I'm not going to get rid of her, I just want her to settle down a bit. Dont worry I'm giving it time. As for the gas, she is getting the same food she had at the other home. If it doesn't change though, I might have to switch it to something better. Oh and she does go into the laundry room by herself too. So at least she looks at it as a place a comfort. The other thing is the lack of confidence. My other two dogs look to me if they need it, but can go by themselves and be by themselves. She can't. How do I teach a 10 year old dog to be comfortable in it's own skin? I've never owned a nervious dog. My little Tucker is about as close as I got to nervious, but he wants you to just pet him, but will still go off by himself. Pretty much just wants to make me happy. Jenna- DH's dog could care less for us lowly humans, but tolerates us in her space. LOL in other words just needs our thumbs to take the cover off the food container and if I don't do it fast enough she will just go catch her own. But Tess- won't even go outside unless you come with, even if the other dogs go with.
I guess time will tell and things always work out in the end. Thanks again for listening.
DrHa-I give L credit if you have the same gas problem. Clears rooms at my house.

Thanks for all the welcomes everybody!!! I'm sooo excited to get working with my poultry. I only own four birds right now. (A pair of black standard cochins and a pair of blue splash standard cochins) I'm actually building them a chicken coop right now as they are pretty young. I also show rabbits so I"m always excited for a new animal to show and a new challenge. =]

I had 8 of those going at one time a couple of years ago.. LG and Hovas..

what I did was plug up all the holes in the bottom of the bator.. there were 1 in each corner.. then I poke 4 ea 1/4 " holes(one in each side) of the bottom section, just at the top of the reservoir. when the water got too deep, it just leaked out the overflow holes..

If you have a hygrometer, you can tell when the water is gone, also.. the humidity will start to drop..If it goes dry once or twice during incubation, doesn't seem to be a problem.. it is usually dry for only a couple of hours..

I have pastel and blue fawn. I also have one ginger male that I may breed with a pastel hen. My white, nutmeg, gray and blue were all killed by a mink this fall. I'm not getting eggs yet. I would expect them in the next 6 weeks.
Cambria is about a 4 hour drive from here. I have a friend who goes to Madison quite often. If she can't find any call ducks elsewhere we could maybe arrange something when I get ducklings.

I had an email from Karen,, she is looking for 3 call ducks..
Any color but gray.. she did mention butterscotch, and pastel.

she said that calls were difficult to hatch.. that is a challenge, I accept.. I would like some eggs to hatch.. they can't be that much more difficult than goose eggs..

DrH) You didn't insult me! School just started again, busy busy! I do need to mellow out, I just am all high emotions lately and can't get the worry out of my brain!

So, I had a very uplifting day today! I drove, scared for my life into MKE this morning. It was bad. But I made it alive. I get to work and I hear one of the girls is leaving to a new hospital! I perk my ears up, and was going to ask the lab supervisor, but decide it just happened today, don't pounce on it like a scrap of meat. Well, then MATC got canceled for tmw, which means I don't have to go into clinicals!!
wee.gif
SNOW DAY!!! So, I go up to said lab supervisor to tell her matc got canceled and I won't be in and she goes
"Ok, hey did you hear the good news?"
"Good News?" I say
"Looks like we will be having a job opening coming available" she says
I say "Oh yeah, I did!"

She then goes on to tell me to check the website daily, and when I see it, apply. Then to call her and bug her bug her bug her about it! And if I don't see it pop up on the website soon, then to call her and bug her bug her bug her about why its not on there! She said she thought it was crazy that she told me a week ago that they had no positions available, and shes having one come up now! I told her it was an omen and we laughed. Maybe it is? Columbia would be a better place to work, seeing as where I want to go with school I have more opprotunities, it's closer to our home, right near school, first shift....but I would be stuck in Micro
sad.png
Which I don't like. Not that I don't like Micro, I just enjoy doing EVERYTHING in the lab. I guess I have a lot to think about!!

I am just so happy I have had these opprotunities fall into my lap, makes me feel like all those laaate nights not seeing my son and studying paid off!

I am going to apply, but I am worried on what to do if they both offer me a job? UGH. Talking to DH about it tonight. I don't know how to professionally tell one or the other I was offered a job somewhere else. Mainly sheboygan, as I told them that they were my first pick! (insert foot in mouth)

AND I'm finishing my great day with a yummy cup of joe and going out to eat with the inlaws! Yum yum!

DH worked 2am-10am last night, so hes asleep. Haha I get dinner!
