I have a turken X you can have! I belive it's a roo, it's acting like a roo, it's gone after the hens like a roo. But it has no spurs starting that I can see and the feathers seem too rounded and it makes weird noise but I haven't heard it crow. It is prety big and has heavy legs. I think it's a LARGE young roo! LOL
What ever the case, I don't want it. I have no use for a roo right now.
The one on the Left
He's a bit older and biger than this.
If anyone want's him/it they can have him/it or I fatten it for freezercamp.

Yeah the limit is 10 on the whitefish. We thought about getting a guide cause I think it would be worth the money the first time out, but we have a couple friends that have been fishing them a couple years and they gave us lots of tips. Plus we have a camera, it is really neat watching them bite. Lake link has lots of info and chatter about fishing them.
Sorry it has been so long to reply, I just got back from visiting my parents in Florida, I was lucky and just got out last tuesday before the storm hit. It is good to be back home, but the weather was great down there this year.
Good Morning Good People! bl4 let me know if your coming I'll run up there and hold the door open for ya so ya can get a straight shot at em.
Mag sorry to hear of your loss
You've got some pretty cute replacements there! DA I couldn't wait 3 weeks or 3 hours
ODrH good thing you don't spoil your birds! TO hope you get something for your efforts with this hatch. It's always a worry when you want to be a new momma or papa. fm what are you going to hatch? Raim seems to me that WC was darn close to regular income and agree they are pretty decent. Think today will be a good day to make bread and a batch of brownies
Laura thanked me last night for doing most of the housework. I told her spring is coming and then she'll have to take back over. It's going to be a busy year or 2 for this boy. I was sad that football is over but then remembered drag racing starts the end of the month.
Hoping this stretch is the last of the -0 weather, looking forward to our March snow storm because then winter will be out the door. Stay warm!
DrH, they got my Irish up! Never a good thing for the recipient!
Feeling better today, still want to knock heads together up there though. I guess I just have to send all my complaint stuff in to the FCC and the DATCP and wait for the class action suit.
good morning, coffee is almost ready.. this is going to be a short post.. first , I don't have anything new to say and second, the letters are hesitating on the screen when I type.. I hate it when that happens.. I'll be back later..
Good morning! More snow for us here last night....yup, getting tired of it too! I actually herded the turkeys in last night cause I knew it was going to be so cold again...the other night when it was kind of "balmy" they took to the trees again right along with Jim's guineas! Cant tell what is more stubborn, a guinea or a turkey...they went in at any rate.
Last night started lockdown for the button quail eggs
I did the float test on them and 3 sank right to the bottom (supposed to have never developed) two were bobbers (separated air sac) and the rest were hoverers (good to go) I didnt have the heart to toss the "obvious" ones...kinda scared I guess--I have tossed too many that were still viable from under hens. So I put them all in in separate areas and will just wait and see. According to the person that made the test it is foolproof.
So I just had to say that...now I need to leave for work...stopping at the chicken door to let them out. Maybe your birds have to see a few winters before they like the snow? Mine dont really seem to mind it at all! Have a fantastic day! Terri O
(PS) my crazy DH is going up to GB today to welcome the Pack back. (idiot)
eta: Jim we always are typing at the same time! You are right--that was a really short post! I hate that too--my old puter did that when we had dial-up.
terri, those sinkers (eggs) might have sank because the chick inside has already punctured the membrane into the air cell. ?
I don't float a lot of eggs, so I am not an expert on the subject..
I am thinking of giving up on the rest of the goose eggs in the bator.. 3 days overdue is usually enough..
I got all 5 of the pens and coops watered and fed..
3 more days of this BS and then I can hook up the outside hose again..
I have 10 roosters in one pen.. One of them is a crower.. He crows at all hours of the day or night.. I am trying to single him out .. I have it narrowed down to 1 of 5 barred rocks..
as soon as I get him sorted, he is going in with the new red star hens.. there are 15 of them, that should give him plenty to crow about..LOL
I need 2 dozen fertile eggs by Feb 15.. I think the offspring from that cross should be interesting.. some school kids are going to hatch them..
Almost Noon To All... Troll I'm glad you had a safe trip. It had to be awful hard to leave the Florida weather behind. If I went down there, I'd prolly stay there for ever! I've also heard from some friends that those cameras are a blast to use through the ice....one can tease the fish into biting!
Nice to hear the bator is going fm....where you gonna put the newbies? What breeds are you hatching? I haven't decided yet what my additions to the flock are gonna be yet? I know that I wish I had a barn i could section into different areas. The pole barn I have doesn't have any vacant space for animals.
The sun sure helps being out today, till you have to go check for eggs.... I'm glad the week end is suppose to be balmy again.
Troll, did you go fishing in Fla? My wife and I spent 5 winters near Ft Meyers.. I did a lot of pier fishing.. caught many sheepsheads.. excellent eating fish if cleaned properly..
sea trout and redfish are really good , too..
One day a guy brought one of those cameras to the pier.. there was not a lot of fish being caught at that time of day so he lowered the camera down .. You would not believe the size of fish hanging around under there.. I would never go swimming off a pier again..
a sheepshead is shaped like a crappie and they have long sharp dorsal fins.... they have to be a minimum of 12 inches to keep.. I saw a man who had one on the line and he had it to the surface of the water.. It was flopping and fighting and all of a sudden a LARGE fish came and bit it right in half.. that guy was so spooked that he reeled in his line and just left the pier.. LOL
