,black and white.

Raimnel, "turn it on" ??? Hell, I can't even find the button LOL

I will try later.. I have to go get my teeth cleand in a few minutes..

Don't worry about you MIL seeing people.. Many old people "see" things, people, etc... Mom has had children with her for 5 years.. Last night at supper she said that white cat was sitting on a lady's shoulder.. and Mom was wide awake and eating at the time.. we just go along with it.. No use arguing, they see what they see.

senile people are easy to take care of.. If they want to do something, you tell them they already did that.. or if they want something to eat or drink, you tell them they just ate.. saves on the food bill.. Annie does this to me all the time, I think.. LOL

not really a bad price for full grown ducks.. ???

Black with a white bib ? probably Swedes.. black and white like a holstein cow ? probably muscovys..

18 eggs in the incubator due last weekend of Feb 2011. BBS Ameraucana, Cackle Hatchery type Speckled Sussex, Buckeyes.

I need to contact Duane Urch about some new Buckeye and Ameraucana blood. I cannot seem to find really SOP Speckled Sussex in the area.

Now the youngest son says he wants Buff Brahma Bantams!

We have a Flame Jaerhon Rooster and hen from Sand Hill, and they are just not going to work out for us because we pasture in summer and they fly over the electric fence. I am going to post them on the give-away board, but thought I'd give Wisconsinites a first crack at them. I'll post a pic later today. PM me if you think you might like them. These are not show birds, just something a little different.

jim-LOL! I would 1st ask them if it is all ready to go? they may not have everything hooked up to the back of it? button is probably on the front, you may also have a button on the back top right, turn that one on first then if it dont come on push the front button! I'd come help if I could.

I put 99 Coturnix eggs into the 'bators last night!
wee.gif

Exactly 100 eggs arrived in perfect shape, but I smashed one against the side of the 'bator when I went to put it in (becuase I have AWESOME hand-eye coordination

). 61 of them went into the 'bator with the auto-turning cradle, and the other 38 are in the other Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco that I'll have to hand turn. The eggs are just gorgeous!

I couldn't find enough egg dividers for all those little quail eggs, so my boyfriend made me some more out of coat hangers...

They should hatch around March 5th or 6th!

fordmommy - If you don't find any Mottled Cochins before the bash in June, I'll bring ya some. I have one breeding quad of them separated (Blue Mottled roo over two Blue Mottled hens and a Black Mottled pullet) and I'm waiting for eggs. Clean bill of health on that quad--if you remember, the Mottleds were the ones that I lost a few of in the fall; it was a congenital problem in that bloodline--the shock when I bought them and moved them to a new coop exacerbated the problem, otherwise I probably never would have known they were sick and I would have ended up passing it on! I had blood drawn and labwork done and ended up "retiring" half of the adult Mottleds I had. I'm looking to hatch another little quad of Blues and Splashes from the remaining quad this year, so I'll have extra Blue and Black Mottleds that I'll be scrambling to get rid of. By June, I could probably have sexed pairs ready to go (those Cochins are tricky though--I have a 3 month old in the basement that I can't for the life of me tell if it's a boy or a girl, and a 4 month old I was SURE was a roo two months ago is beginning to look and act pullet-ish!).

It's February and I already have 2 'bator's running. That's NOT a good sign!

I'm driving to WI Dells this weekend. I tried to PM you babylady4, but apparently your box is full! Not sure where in Central WI you live but if you still have the call hen and aren't too far off our path I'd be interested in her.

ok this is a serious question, cause I'm curious. and it goes to anyone. and no becauses or why nots.

muuuust goooo dooooo somethingggggg! lol good day to u all!

I just got back from town.. it is fau-geee !!

raimnel, I had button quail once a couple of years ago because they were good eggs to send to school for the kids to hatch.. they didn't have to wait as long as for chicken eggs..

Otherwise i didn't know what to do with them.. finally something was sneaking in and killing them, so I butchered about 10 that I had left.. they were v e r y t i n y,,,
and delicious...

I pickled a quart of eggs from them.. it took 50 eggs to fill the jar.. I gave them to one of my nephews.. I am not much of a pickle fan..

I think quail would be a good thing for city folks to raise instead of chickens.. You have all the same experiences excpt that everything is accelerated, timewise.. they are quiet.. you can confine them in pens.. they will spend most of the time on the ground..

I had one that spent the whole winter in the chicken coop.. when I would go in there, it would jump up and hit my hand,, then I would give it some feed.. If you have the time to spend, they can become quite friendly..
