funny; that cake didn't LOOK dry ..LOL
that chocolate slicked it up a bit, eh?
BigZ, I just walked away from that thread.. how 'bout dat?
I set 61 eggs tonight.. temp 99F Rh% 43 I had plenty of room, but I double decked the holders anyhow.. My chickens' eggs are so large, I had trouble fitting them into the plastic holders.
BigZ, I sent Dave an e-mail about those Java eggs.. and also asked him what he might have that he wants to get rid of.. I'm determined to fill this bator at least once before I die..LOL
why don't you borrow a buckeye rooster and I'll hatch the eggs for you..
I have a list of swaps from several parts of this state and a few from surrounding states.. I can't post them here, but I could send them to one of you and maybe you could post them..
OR I could send them to anybody who emails me off group..
PM me if you want them.. I will give you my email addy..
Isn't Winneago the lake where guys carry boards along to build bridges over the cracks in the ice? and strap pontoons onto their trucks? and they call ME crazy..LOL
My jungle rooster is feeling a bit feisty.. he is starting to pick fights with anybody who will face him.. especially with my wyandotte.........that little brat !! lucky for him , he hasn't tried Tommy yet.. he did go aftr the young Tom, though..
Jim, I have VERY high standards....... It was moist, but not moist enough. It is one of my goals to find a yellow cake that is NOT sawdust...... this one is close but I'll have to make it again the right way before I make a decision. It would really help if I had an overabundance of chicken eggs!
Oh well........
I think tomorrow I'll make the Pineapple upside down cake in the book; it looks amazing!
babyl4.....you can pick up a few eggs from me ...LOL... I've been doing Angle Foods!
If it's too dry, a tad more oil? Or if it takes shortening replace some w/oil?
jav1492.... You can send me the list to post unless it's handier for someone else to do it... in any case...I want the list!
And I promise not to be a baby when I get into hatching! If I am you have permission to
!!!!!! Just not too hard please
TO... yep... up till the wee hours! Why too many years on night shifts I guess!
Wow! Too bad about the ice! I can tell you from 100% experience that ice can be tricky! And warm weather I'm sure played a big part in people over estimating how strong it was!
Well, I cleaned the coop today real good, disinfected it, sprayed it and burned all the bedding in the chicken run!
Bye Bye WORMS!
At least for now
Dang did they hate being locked out of the coop all day! And the little Dominique (Jasmine) kept jumping the fence to get out! Going to have to watch her 'till we can put in the higher fence!
Good pre-Apocalyptic Snow Morning All! WOW cp that sucks! I saw the warnings on the news the day before about bago. Glad you got off OK! Jim think it was Pacino's line. You can't handle the truth!
People only want to hear that they know what their doing. I can hear the chains rattling on the lil mule, she itchin to plow some snow. Looks like we might be on the lower edge of it.
The wind is starting to pick up a little, it's on it's way. Better go let the kids out while the ground is still clear. Peatwo and Btwo are starting to follow the rest of the flock everywhere they go now, they're fitting in nicely. Gonna watch Napcar at Daytona and count snowflakes this aft. Carefull out there people!

I think this last week prepared us for today! We had a flood at one building when a washing machine hose came lose and dumped a washer and half of water from the 2nd floor apartment into the 1st floor apartment and the basement, then the day after that we had a tenant set their kitchen on fire due to walking away from the stove with food still cooking, leaving the unit uninhabitable and then a day later we had a building that needed to be treated for a infestation of bugs. The only thing missing was a tornado. What a crazy week!
The cake looks yummy!
Jim- I find some of those threads interesting to read but don't post as it probably won't help! We have done good so far with our homemade incubator in hatching out eggs-the problem we have is getting the chickens to lay eggs and fertile ones at that
We are currently running our 4th incubation and hopefully will get the chicks we need for the kids 4-H projects this year. We are also raising turkeys again this year- we will be getting 4 BB Whites and 4 BB Bronze on March 7th and the older 2 will have to figure out who is taking what to show.
Morning all! I have the link to the swaps in WI and nearby; http://www.triplespringacres.com/birdswapsandauctions.htm I got this from Tyler so it should be correct! I have been glutened this weekend and I feel like crap again...personally I think it was from looking at BL4's cake!
Man woman--you are GOOD! I cant wait to see you other creations...sure wish I could taste 'em though! OK--the snow is coming down here already but the weatherman says 1-4 now instead of 10! Keeping my fingers crossed! Terri O
Yeah, I know ,, "you can't handle the truth" ain't that the truth..
I look at how many posts the person made.. If the number is really low, and there are less than 3 replies, I try to help.. but then the "experts" with 200 posts and 2 hatches under their belt step in ad start spraying their B. S. around like s%^t salesmen with a mouth full of samples...
I am staying out of there for awhile..
Annie is saving eggs for batch #2 .. batch #1 is sailing along very nicely..
Isn't it funny; every year we start out with higher hopes for better hatches than we had last year?? I guess that is what keeps us hatching..eh? I learned "eh?" and "prolly" from BigZ ..LOL
waiting for the snow is like waiting for the other shoe to drop.
