Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

quick question, our chicks are almost 2 weeks and 1 of them is noticable smaller than the rest. its weak, stays near the light, can't say if I've seen it eat/drink, AND it takes for ever to do it's duty (poo) when/if it goes, it's a little bit. seems kind of constipated? It picks at it's butt alot. it doesn't have pasty butt (it seems "clean") when it is trying to poo, it's vent seems to push way out???
sorry for the gross question but you don't know what answers ur gonna get on the other threads lol!

Suzie picked up a suitcase of beer for me to Doc....Boxer Beer comes in a 36 ct suitcase...5% and tasty! The price is nice too! I'll have a suitcase or two at the bash for samples. Suzie made a loaf of beer bread the other day. No need for yeast or waiting to rise....one hour from start to finish. Anyone want the receipe I'll post it for all. I was skeptical, but it was delicious. Warm bread in a hour....heaven!

the Application he gave you needs to be finished by him, some testers let the flock owner fill most of it out, I know I do, WI tested is the same as NPIP except its free, and you need to check if the state you are sending to or showing in, to see if they accepts it as NPIP. so how long where you in CA? just so you know if you sell and ask people to fill out that form a lot will not, they don't like to be recorded. I'm just saying that so you know. I'm not saying not to try.

Thanks for the heads up getting people or lack of getting people to fill out their info! When I got my chicks from TSC, they had a clip board with a sheet that I put my name and address on. The sales girl filled out the bird info. I figured it was all part of getting chicks from them and what the State required. I had no problem with it, but I know that some people will. When I went to my first swap I got four chickens and neither owner had me fill anything out or sign any forms. This was before I found out about premise ID thing and the Pullorum testing. The gentleman who tested my Girls said he fax the form over to the State. Also, my tester told me that since the state was broke, that they no longer had the funds to continue with the Premise ID program. Just wondering if you have you heard anything about that?
I was in CA for about 20 years. My parents moved out there when I was about 12 from Upstate NY. I am very glad to be gone from CA. I don't miss it but I miss my family that is still there.

MLH...the premise ID is still in effect and won't go away. They were gonna pursue to the point where you needed one even to buy feed. That's where the ball was dropped due to funding. It use to be annual renewal and now you renew for 3 years at a time. Hard to say what the future is gonna bring on this issue. Compliance is no big deal really... so far!

Bigzio I would love to try the recipe for beer bread... anything that cuts down the time for breadmaking I'll try!

OK dk1 you are gonna love this ....I hope!

3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
3 Tbs. sugar
1 Tb. baking powder
1 1/2 tsps. salt
12 ounces beer
1 egg, beaten

Adjust oven rack to lower-middle position and heat oven to 375. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Add beer ( with no sips taken ) and stir with a fork until combined. Turn dough onto a floured surface; Knead quickly to form a ball. Place bread on a cooking sheet and confidently slit an X on top with a serrated or very sharp knife. Brush the loaf with egg wash. Bake until golden brown about 45 minutes or so. Transfer to a wire rack to cool. serve....we always fry the remaining egg so nothing goes to waste....but that's us! Enjoy...even my daughter in law makes this bread, and that's saying alot....
