Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Man miss a day here and you sure have to play catch up!! LOL!!

So, is it really almost 10am? Im ready to got back to bed!! But I have to say I was up at 5 am both yesterday and today. I was waiting for the PO to call!!!! My chicks are here! Finally!! I have been waiing since Feb 8th! I have 34 Russian Orloff Pullets and 10 Barnevalder Pullets!!!! I only lost one! I think that was an Orloff from Ideal so instead of 35 Orloffs I have 34.
They are very cute! The Ideal gilrs are doing really well, but the Privett girls are still a little shaky. Some are up and mocing and buzzing but I have a knot of them under the heat lamp. I'm sure in a few more hours they should be fine. They look really tired poor dears. I may get a ceramic heat emitter for that group so they can sleep.

The quail are great but I had two pretend to be salmon and go upstream in their jar feeder. I found them and one had died but I was able to rescue the other one. SHe/he is fine. I took the jar of so they can't get into the lid holes and become salmon again! Silly things..Live and learn....

Today is my Harrison (aka Harry Bunny) Bunnies first birthday! Yep he was kindled on April 1st! He is going to get a b-day gift while Im out and about.....

Here is a pic of the Ideal chicks:

Hey Jim,

What color Guineas do you have? Do you sell eggs? I've got guineas and love them. Wouldn't mind adding to my flock. I've got more cocks than hens

I've also been meaning to ask you what the swap group address is. I think I may have gotten it from you a while back and joined but since my laptop fried I lost so much stuff I need to start over.

Good nearly afternoon! Did anyone get sucked into the "egg selling" April Fool's joke on here this morning? I dont know if all the traffic to that one page crashed the site or if the mods shut it down...it was hilarious! Zone people would pick up your eggs every other week (2 doz min and 10 doz max) to sell to restaurants all over the country....the folks who figured it out played along with sappy stories. THe whole thing gave me a good laugh! Then BYC was down and I had to read email before checking with you all!

So any how...I had to call in sick to work today at 7; went back to sleep until 10! My head feels like a watermelon and all the kids are coming home tonight for supper with SOs! Wish I could call in sick here too! Going to go to town and get some cheap beer to pour into that bread...Hel( I might even try making it GF some time! (haha Brent--then I can have my own!) DH doesnt want to use his "good beer" for bread!
DrH--I am sure that Buster was much more beautiful than my SLW! Mine is a sad sack right now for sure! I am just glad I got him out in time. He is 4 years old this spring I believe and cant fight the young ones like he used to!
ODrH--those eggs look good! Is that the color that mine came from? (THe cuckoo's?) I assume those are the dark eggs you were talking about...what about the blue ones? Are those your Ameraucanas? The chicks in the basement room broke out yesterday! I have no idea how the gate cam down but they were roosting above my washer! It was pretty funny...I must not have hooked the door! THe babies in the tank are getting sooo big and I believe I will move them into the basement with the others this weekend if I get to feeling better. I probably will only move the Americaunas from Down there and keep the 6 I hatched up here for now...there is a banty among them that is pretty tiny yet!
I think it is time for me to go and get back into bed...starting to feel chilly/hot at the same time again! Man I HATE being sick!

I havent been for so long I have forgotten how to deal with it!
Have a fantastic day...and let's ALL feel better soon! Terri O

before I forget:

The Waupaca County 4H small market committee is hosting a small animal swap tomorrow, Sat. April 2 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the fairgrounds in Weyauwega, WI.

The cost is $2 per person and 12 and under are free.

If you are bringing animals to sell, be sure you have any necessary pullorum and other health papers--they will be checked at the gate before entering.

There is generally a good variety of animals there! Hope to see a good turn out to help out the 4H kids and start spring off right!

There will be food to purchase in the information building.

Looking ahead-- the Fox Valley Rabbit Club will be hosting a small animal swap on Sat., April 16 at the fairgrounds in Weyauwega from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.; cost is $2 per person 14 and older.

I made another loaf of beer bread for breakfast.. with warm beer.. (miller black label) I wonder if different beers make different flavored bread,,?? It seemed to raise a little more than the cold beer did..
I just stuck the can into a bowl of hot water for a few minutes.
just watch out,, it foams out when you pop he top..

It does make good toast.. I am guessing it would make good french toast also..

........jiminwisc.......

Would like to add some ducks to my back yard and am thinking about the Welsh Harlequins. Anyone know of anyone that has some available?

Just had to jump back on after Jim suggested beer french toast. Do you mean beer with french toast? Never done that. Takes too long to cook!

TO oooh that's an old bird think you need a new slw roo or 3. Depends on the hatch. Maybe 20. Sure hope you feel better soon. Think you ought to make hot dog soup for the kids. Better yet they should bring you supper in bed.

Hi all. Good luck with you eggs Hurley! Wow that's alot! MLH- cute chicks. I love the little chippies. Bigzio and DrHa- What good men you are to still open the door for your ladies. I find that a very endearing quality, DH use to do it when we first started dating, but then we got so many goofy looks when we went out, I told him it would be ok if he didn't anymore. But he still opens the door when we go places. It's funny, he will get mad at me if I open the second door going into resturants. So now I'll just stand there and wait for him to do it. French toast- I love my job and feel luck that I do. How many people can get paid to do what they like.
Well the chicks are doing well and the lady I bought the eggs from offered to send me more for just shipping ( everyone on BYC is great) but I told her that I'm going to wait until it's alittle warmer and then I should have some broodies to do the work for me.
TO- get over your cold. Mid april the trails open and we are riding!
Edited to say TO the DNR website says the trails are open in the southern now. We need to start planning, and maybe we could go by may if the weather ever warms up.

The rest of you riders are welcome too.
Take care every.

Ok, Terri O caught my photo mistake! HAhahaha! No it was not a joke! I was me being very tired from being up early for the call from the PO! So here are the Privett chicks! I also got them a ceramic heat emitter and have to say that I really like it. The chicks like it more. I think I'll invest in some more. Keeps them really warm and with no light, then can catch some seriuosly needs zzzzz's.

The Privett Gang all cold and sleepy:
