Brent, the eggs are all switched to the hatcher.. there were 16 clears in the buckeyes.. 2 clears in the americauna.. I set 2 goose eggs and 7 turkey eggs.. In the top tray I hae 6 goose, 1 guinea and 16 turkey eggs.. In the bottom tray I have 7 goose and I don't know how many of each other eggs.. about 28 assorted ones..

I made a loaf of beer bread.. It is really dense, but has a nice flavor.. Mom ate two pieces for supper.. of course that filled her up so she wouldn't eat anything else.. :LOL I like the hard crust.

I shaped mine like a loaf of french bread.. I might have made a mistake with it.. As I was pouring a can of nice COLD miller into the mix, I had the thought that maybe it should have been at least room temperature?? next time..

I am going to be really PO"d at all the people around me who are sick with colds.. I haven't had a cold or flu for so many years that I can't remember the last time.. If I get one this spring I will not speak to anyone ... Now Annie is complaining of a stuffy head,,,,,,,, or nose.. I should learn to listen to her a little closer..LOL

speaking of colds, and beer bread, makes me think of having a cold beer.. see ya all later.

Well landlord is showing tomorrow for 45 minutes so I am guessing two different groups or people.
On the up side I got to talk to Kristip tonight. I am taking her bunnies to the swap in madison. I am taking 3 free roosters to a person there.
He wants them for his free ranging flock, and since they won't be there for sale, and are not coming on the grounds, they don't have to be tested.

DH and i are old'fashioned young 'uns too; will teach our kids to be the same way. I don't see a lot to be proud of in the modern ways of thinking.

Eggies ready to be set on Saturday. Clockwise from the left - Iowa Blues (32), B/B/S Cuckoo Marans (12), Blue/Splash Ameraucanas carrying the hookless (silkie) gene (12), F1 OEs (Marans over Ameraucana pullets) (7), and a handful of big eggs from the layer pen for grins.

Can't wait to get my Iowa Blue flock started and am looking forward to adding silkied Ameraucanas in another generation.


Need to build some serious runs/coops space this spring!

I never looked at my life size doll the same again! (even though I was bigger than her by the time it aired)....dodododo...dodododo...dodododo.....

Went to TSC today and found out I just missed the Ameraucana chicks! Grrrrrr They were "chick of the week"

Well, maybe there will be some at the "Fur and Feather" the 10th.

Jim I've seen all of Hitch's shows and movies. Why can't they make shows or movies like that anymore? Think your right about the cold beer. Bec I'm old fashioned that way too. BFF came out yesterday to get eggs and he asked what was wrong with Peatwo. He was goose steppin around the yard. When I told him that he didn't like getting his feet wet he just laughed and laughed. Then laughed some more. Got all the dryest wood cut and split yesterday. It's still pretty wet ended up with a cord. Have a cord of kindling to mix in. Think I'm going to have to take the blade off the tractor. It's sinking in on the packed road going out back, hope I can get in the woods with it and not get buried. Get to go shopping this morning and pick up the last of whats needed for the B'room. Then cut and stain the trim. I lied about keeping the bator closed up. I slipped in a couple of more eggs, should be slw/red sex link crosses. Should be good layers! Red Silver Wyandottes?

good morning all, My favorite Hitcock episode was the one where the lady smacked her husband on the head with a frozen leg of lamb, and then cooked it.. then she fed the lamb to the investigators and cops..

I upped the humidity to 63% in the hatcher just now..

Cind, you have americauna eggs in the bator, why buy chicks? While we are at it,,,;;; What is a blue splash?

I have 38 barred rock/red star chicks out in the brooder.. I am thinking they might be sex linked.. the yellow ones look and act like little roosters,, we will see in a few weeks.. If the black ones are pullets, then I have about 30 of them.. some of the yellow ones are getting bars on their wings already..

the barred rocks I left in the guinea coop are finally starting to lay.. I will be collecting their eggs for a while and then I will sell the hens with a rooster.. there are 7 hens..

I hope my eggs are ready to be picked up this weekend.. there should be about 14 dozen..

Good Friday Fish Fry To All.... I was wondering why you have been so quiet amy. It's hard on the eyes catching up for sure! Leinies Red should be tasty.

Suzie made another loaf for supper....I like the crust too! We have always used cold beer. Suzie questioned yesterday if warm would be better....prolly have to try that and see what happens?
It works well for toast to, just takes a little longer to brown.

Good Luck with all the hatching....sounds like those are Dave's eggs on order eh Jim?
Hope the hatch finishes well on the bucks and the americauna eggs.

Yep, I even had a comment by a passer by the other day when I opened the truck door for suzie...he said "what a gentlemen, don't see that anymore".... That suzie sure is a lucky girl, eh!
