Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning all, sure can tell when the weather is crappy. everybody gets on the puter and drags their feet before going outside.. suck it up people !!!!! your flocks await you... Me? well I have to finish my coffee, first..

Annie seperated the rest of the wyandottes from the rest of the bachelors.. no more fights..

guinea egg #3 of 3 hatched last night.. another white one..

nothing with the turkey eggs,, yet..

DrH and Dave, you do know that if the outside temperature drops below 5oF that the eggs will not hatch until the outside temp gets back above 50F, don't you?? just kidding.. LOL

I have to go make a phone call, I had a bite on the ad for my young toms.. I hope she takes all 3 of them..

be careful out there, if you can't be careful, be gentle..

Corn snake, variety of colors and patterns.

You can see some photos on our website at CCCorns.com, though we haven't updated in quite some time since we've been posing most of our hatching pics and breeder pics on our forum The Source - cornsnake forum. I've been just putting up photos in our CCCorns personal forum on the site, much easier. They are wonderful little snakes and are very appreciative of my chicken hobby as they happily eat anything that doesn't hatch or has to be culled. Makes me feel better that at least the dead-in-shells can provide a meal, they aren't then a total waste.

Hurley they are beautiful!

The picture of your granite snake reminded me of when my girls were little (kindergarten and prek)and we lived on an 80 acre farm that was no longer being worked. One day they came in carrying a tiny little snake and the pattern instantly made me think rattle snake, so I confiscated the snake, put it in a jar with air holes and tried to find someone who could tell me what it was... out in the middle of farm country and no one could tell me for sure. Wonder now if it wasn't a little corn snake. At the time I was just darn grateful that whatever it was it didn't bite them!

Dang it Jim you've been on that hatching thread again haven't you! I don't believe any of that nonsense I stick to tried and true scientific methods. You swing a cat by the tail 3 times around your head and set it down and call it to you if it comes to you it's a sure bet that it's a really stupid cat. Bob loves this method he doesn't have a tail and seems to love to watch Taz. flying around the room for some reason. Then while she's disorriented go on the offensive. It has absolutley nothing to do with the hatch but it's entertaining as.... ODrH Will have to check out the snake hatch! dk1 it's snowing here, will take that over rain right now. The big puddles are back in the yard again.

I like the sound of that!

Creek is rising fast here, 4 feet wide yesterday now over 20.

I have another broken broody, dang. Just don't know if I want bator headaches though.

Take it easy on this yucky wet day.

I don't blame them. The chicks are all doing fine. GDs 1 and 3 will be over later so I better let them get some rest.
otonoh, sounds like your almost ready for Terri and Jim to move in. Is the basement ready for the chicks?

amyable, what do you mean by broken broody

Snowy Afternoon All... Just threw a couple more chunks on the fire. Sure feels good. Good day for Beer bread Suzie!
Hope the hatch goes good today and tomorrow Doc. Kinda like waiting for water to boil, eh!
Congrats on more white guineas Jim. Sure wish you would tell mother nature it's time to warm up.

The hens had a treat of cooked turkey liver, heart, and gizzard. They really enjoyed that. I never leave anything for the yotes if I can help it.

Stay Warm...check in later, just kinda hanging with a beer or two today! ~ bigzio

Good afternoon all!! I hope everyone is dry and some what warm. We had snow and rain early this afternoon, so I'm just staying inside and declaring it "a hot cocoa and bunny slipper" kinda day. I feel so sorry for the three banty hens outside. They look so miserable, the poor dears. I did buy them some meal worms and a new next box, so that should make them happy. I just need to get a wood sealer to seal the box since it's bare wood. I have to look for a non-toxic kind.

So as promised here are some pics of the Texas A&M quail. They are 3 weeks old tomorrow.

This one I believe is a female since she has no spots:

This one I believe is a male since he does have spots:

Oh and I just have to post this pic. I was cleaning the banty/barnyard brooder and was fiddling with the chicks and my camera. This little RIR was so cute! He was trying so hard to keep his eyes open but lost the battle. He fell asleep with his fuzzy butt in the air and his head plastered to the floor.

MustLove the quail are pretty. What do you do with all the quail?

Poor little baby lol... reminds me of my neice, who at the tender age of 2 fell asleep face first in her bowl of jello!
