I was going through the eggs in bator #1 to see if any were due to go to the hatcher.. transferred 3 and found one empty guinea shell.. found the little buggar way at the bottom of the bator, none the worse for wear.. he is sitting on my lap until I go upstairs and put him into the chick TV.. have a goose egg pipped.. no snow here unless it started since I came down to the basement..
DrH, lotsa ducks (muscovy) in the freezer and a few geese, too.. I have (38) 4 week old egg/meat chicks.. the roosters will be the meat birds. some are Plymouth barred rocks and the rest are a cross of my Barred rooster and Red Star laying hens..
He is an awesome big bird..
I am setting just the Barred rock eggs daily now for a week or so more..
I am torn.. I was going to go heavy to the Delawares this year. But now I have that nice flock of Barred rocks (5 hens) with the big Rooster..
how the he!! is a person supposed to cut down on the flock size when this type of stuff keeps happening..??
Not to mention the Javas on the way..
I have Delawares and javas set also..
