I got them at my local feed store and I almost fell over when she told me they were $4.25 each. Apparently it was a bad year for hatching guineas. I kind of slipped in there and grabbed them. They were the extras from some order people's orders. I would give you first dibs on them but I live in North West WI, so probably too far from you.

I may hack berries here let me check today. If I do I'll let you know. I also have a few other things if I know what people are looking for. Chives, asparagus, shallots and some plants I'm not sure what are right now! lol

This place came with allot of perennials and I haven't even found them all yet! I also have 3 golden comet cockerels that if no one wants them will wind up in freezer camp.

Good Morning All! TO glad your getting some new torts. Just having a hard time imagining bonding with them, think it would be kinda one sided

I have been known to make lists then lose them.

Jim I have a horisontal shaft engine in the the top of the garage. I think it's a Briggs with gear reduction I'd have to look. I bought it for my old tiller but never used it, think it's a 3 hp but would have to look. Paid $50 for it if your interested. They said rain returning in the afternoon but it rained while I was in the woods and the sun came out after I got back in the yard.

otonoh if you can't find a home for those roo's let me know we'll work something out. Bigz looks like we're finally gonna have a Fish Fry Friday

Back to the woods today. A lot of cuttin yesterday but not much added to the shed. A lot of small trees. About 6 more face cords to go

Wet weather ahead so I better get at it today. Planted some more dill yesterday. Kept the kids locked up till 4 only 5 eggs man was Buster PO'd! Think I'll end their jail sentence this morning. It's Friday for most of you!!!!!

You know how DH ordered 8+ Austrailian Spotted duck eggs for me? I picked them up from the PO the other day expecting maybe 10 or 12 eggs. Well I opened the box and found 18 eggs

! So awesome! I'm crossing my finger that even half hatch for me. Can't wait for baby ducks!

It looks like we won't be staying Saturday night at the bash. The Amherst animal auction is Sunday at noon and, of course, we can't miss that, lol. I think we'll be coming up in the morning Sat. and leaving in the afternoon sometime. I think I'll be bringing some chickens to get rid of. Maybe a goofy little Polish cross trio. I think there's a frizzle I may bring too. I'll add them to the list.

TO- U-haul

! I told DH last night that we should bring a little cash, just in case there's something we may like. Hopefully everything doesn't get sold Friday. Hopefully we won't need a U-haul

My calls are sitting again...I sure hope they produce something this time! The only egg that was good she kicked out and broke. THe rest were infertile--I hope you have better luck with your hatch BL4!
I checked that pipped guinea last night and he did get out but never dried off. It was dead and she was ticked I was checking out the nest.
Hey, anybody that has raised guineas...one of mine looks like it is developing Angel WIng (like a goose does) Does anyone know if they get that? I have never heard of it in them! The bird is way too small to wrap it up in vet wrap...it would look like a little mummy!

Guess I will wait and see unless someone else has any ideas?

Good morning everyone, and welcome to all the newbies!

It feels like summer again and I know that means it will be hay baling time next week. I'm lucky I have two sets of neighbors, in addition to me, to work our hay fields together otherwise I wouldn't have enough help to get my hay in! It's just like in the old days, complete with a big dinner afterwards. I just hope that they don't decide it's time to bale next Saturday. NOOOOOO!

I've got a bash to go to!

I was just on Craig's list listing my round pen for sale (and just got a call in the middle of writing this and looks like it SOLD already!) I noticed a lot more people are selling duck eggs. When I first got into ducks, nobody had eggs for sale, and the few inquiries I had at $4 dozen weren't interested because they thought the price too high. These other people are listing for $5 dozen, so the popularity must be increasing! Yeah for duck eggs! Although my flock is aging and I'm not sure it's worth the effort to sell eggs. I just lost one of my 3-year-old Khakis yesterday and had a very sad funeral for Feather.

We will miss that sassy escape artist, but they all have such a good life.

Time to wake my little duckling and get her fed and ready for ballet. Hope everyone has a great day!

DrH, thanks , but the motor on the tiller is a Tecumseh, and it has shafts coming out in a couple of different directions.. too bad Briggs and Tecumseh are not interchangeable.. I have two motors in the garage.. I don't remember what kinds they are.. I even forgot I had them until you mentioned yours.. LOL thanks for the memory jolt..

I think all the birds lived through the night.. I had a rough time getting the last guinea out of the blackberry patch.. they can be so dense in the head ..

A woman wanted some baby ducks.. sorry, they are all gone.. maybe if she would not have diddled so long in answering my reply, I might have saved a couple for her.. I guess she thought that she was the only person in the whole world looking for ducks.. LOL

It is like the people on incubating and hatching asking,,(example) "has this ever happened to anyone else?" Nope, you are the absolute first to have a fully formed chick not hatch.. Heeeeres your sign.

You think an answer like that would earn any points ?

on the note, was it carol/WiCc? IDK, you can start that list on the Bash thread, write up a post saying for everyone to post what their bringing for the swap and you can keep editing that post to state whos bringing what. AND tell me what post it is and I can put a referance to it on the 1st post. lol (I got out of that job, moowaahahaha)

oh and I was wondering if the camp will accomidate (sp?) a 20' x 11' tent? now a fine time to ask huh? lol we set the tent up here and slept in it last night for DS birthday "camping" night. fits 3 Queen and 1 twin air matreses rather nicely! lol
oh and I remembered something else, dogs are allowed at the camp right? are goats? their itty bitty! lol we either bring the dogs OR the goats and if the goats stay home, they will need sitters. Dh and I were discussing this last night, if we bring the dogs they're gonna want to sleep in the tent, NOT! lol, I think we're going to bring our car and our van (we don't have REAL far to drive) anyways, my family barely fits in the van with all our gear then add the dogs and the duck that'll be coming back with us....... anyways the dogs will be sleeping in the van (with windows open). I still think the goats would be easier to bring

I finally found calls ducks close to me! I put a want ad on craigslist. I said I was interested in any color except black bibbed. So this guy responds "I have 2 call ducklings to sell, they are black". I ask if they have a bib. Yes. I'll take them anyway, he only wants $5 each.
