TO and Kee....
about the losses.
TO... thanks for the peek at the new "Turk" baby!
Well, got the brooder box done and in! So far so good. Tomorrow I got to clean her nest and get the unhatched eggs out. I THINK I have 7 chicks.
Any advise on cleaning her nest without P!$$ing her off too much? I was worried that she wouldn't be a good mom. This is her first time at it and she seldom interacts with the other chickens so I didn't know how she would react to all those chicks. So far pretty good. Very protective and seems to chatter at them all the time.
I let the "young ones" (Easter week hatch) out with the ladies today. It went fairly well. They have allot to learn and only have a few weeks to do it. Got to ease them into the big coop so I can get the ones from the bash in the small coop where the young ones are now.
BTW...JIM... Remember I got the 2 "oddball" chicks in that carrier that had the Guineas and Ameraucanas. Well, I think I got a white guinea! After I got them home and in the brood pen I was watching them and thought "Gee that white one sure is shaped more like a guinea than a chicken."
If you want it back or xtra $ for it let me know.
GOT to do garden work tomorrow! So many weeds can't find some of the plants!
Sure, now the heat comes!
My incredibly, mechanically inclined son, fixed the trailer! One of the cable guides broke and the cable twisted and threw the other cables off. He had to make a part for it, kinda' jury rigged it, but it works! At least now hey can use it over the 4th like they planned.
Hope everyone is recovering well!
