Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Response from Steve. Hope it helps you, Jim.

Unless the tines are completely mangled I'm sure they could be reworked. My tiller doesn't have any "cutting edge" on the tines so there isn't anything to sharpen that I can see. If the edges are all peened over or rounded from hitting rocks and they just won't penetrate the soil, I would probably take 'em off and grind them with an electric hand grinder to restore the shape of the edges and that's about it.

Ok, I know I said I'd post pics of the new chicken run, so here they are. It is in a u-shape surrounding the 20'x20' carport.
I'll have to take more, but the battery died.

Cool coop! One question - what is the avian/netting doing on the side of the wires? Just curious as to why it is there
smile.png

Question for all of you - I am currently fostering 3 cats. 2 completely indoor and one indoor/outdoor - wondering if anyone is interested. They are all super friendly and really nice looking cats. The indoor are a Siamese: male, front declawed, neutered and litter box trained. Good with other cats and my kids and dogs. Solid black female, spayed, litter box trained and also good with the kids, dogs and other cats. The indoor outdoor cat is orange and white, male, neutered, long haired. Good with kids, cats and dogs. If anyone is interested please let me know. They are 20.00 each to re-home or 50.00 for all three, but they all three do not have to go together. Or if you know anyone who would be interested pass the info along. I am about 20 minutes (into the middle of nowhere) from Tomah or Sparta.

man, it is a scorcher out there. Kids are begging to go play in the pool and I really don't have any desire to go sit outside and watch them... I would probably sweat bullets just sitting on the deck in the shade! Tomorrows supposed to be even worse.... stay cool and be safe to you all!

Shade. Look on pics 2 & 3.

It isn't avian netting. It is called Sun Shade fabric & they sell it at Walmart. I picked it up on clearance last fall, thinking it would come in handy for something.

Sorry about your loss Kee, but the coop is cute and the cat seems quite intrigued.
Sorry about your loss to TO. Those fuzzy butts are adorable, sure can't wait until I can get some.

MLH sorry to hear about your dizziness. I have low blood pressure and there I times I come so close to fainting, vision goes dark, hearing goes, it's scarey. Hope you have no further problems with that.

Spent yesterday driving in near Chicago to meet the lady to return the deaf dog. She was delivering two pitties to the pit bull rescue and said they might take our return as well. The lady she was meeting works with deaf and blind dogs, so it would be a great fit for him to get the training he needs. Was hard to say goodbye, he was sweet and there is a good dog in there.

Been working in the yard on and off today. Taking a break now because of the heat, in an hour or so I'll go back out to the patch of hostas I ripped out around the tree stump and finish digging things up. Tomorrow I'll work in some compost, some good soil and tomorrow night after it cools off put in all the flowers and ornamental grasses I got to go there. Did get some of my shade garden done today. Been taking pictures every hour or so to track the sunshine so I can try to figure out for next year what I can plant where.

Making bean soup and cornbread for dinner tonight. Yeah, I know it's nearly 90 out there
roll.png
but I love bean soup and DH doesn't care for it more than once or twice a year, so... while he's away I eat all the things I don't normally get. It's starting to smell really good.

Waiting for DD to call, she's having her ultrasound today and we'll know what she's having this time. I'm a bit concerned, although she doesn't know it, and I'm hoping everything is ok.

Well, off to get a load of laundry done and try to get some things organized. Can't believe how long it's taking me to settle in this time, I must be getting old

have a great afternoon all.

I had no idea there was a calendar submission area (or a calendar for that matter...) Thank you
smile.png
! I submitted one, I will wait to submit a second until later on this year. I *might* be getting two frizzles from Carol - and if they don't come from her they will come from somewhere

https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=6804650#p6804650 - that is where my entry is. And here is the photo I submitted of Pippa. My White Crested Blue Polish.

So be sure all you Wisconsin-ites vote for my picture when the time comes to vote (if no one else from our lovely community submits one that is...)

Celtic - that makes perfect sense that that would be a shade cover. Duh me
smile.png
If you don't mind me asking, how much where they on sale? And do you recall what the full price was? That would be a great thing to have on my back deck to create some shade. I have some shade from the house, but not enough to have a gathering of people outside... thought maybe I could pick on up tomorrow when I go grocery shopping and have a great 4th of July Bash this weekend, outside, as opposed to everyone flocking in our air conditioned house.

Here is the brooder box I was working on, all made from scrap! Even the wire was in the box of "extra stuff" from the guy I got the saws from. It's not fancy and I need to finish the door for the top (I just threw wire over it for now). Yes, the doors are a bit "off" I had help from 2 small grandsons!

And my son put the wire on the doors

May have to re-do those! I can split it into 2 smaller cages too. Kinda multipurpose pen. That is Penny a spangled Orloff looking on.

Here's the babies! I think I only got 2 out of 4 Ameraucanas and 5 out of 5 Cochins (at least that's what they are suppose to be!)

She seems like a good, protective mother so far.

MLH... hope you feel better and it was just the heat.

Thanks Jim about the white Guinea!

Well, it clouded over a bit back outside to see what I can get done before the heat gets me again.

Early Evening All.... great pics everyone. It's fun to see the coops as well as all the birds.

Great job raimnel. Thanks for all your effort.

Honest day of work here on the hill today. My troy-bilt also did a honest day's work. The squash garden is tilled, as well as some of the others....yep, we can and freeze enough for the year for prolly 3 familys....the harvest is a full time job here.

Did your blue americaunas ever grow up TO, or do you think they are bantys? Mine don't seem to be keeping up in size to the large fowl Buckeyes and Java/crosses. Nice little birds though.

Hope you finished the wood pile today Doc. Prolly just a lazy day is a good idea tomorrow cause of the heat.

I carry cell phone whenever I go outside.. I would hate to pass out in the chicken coop, also.. I dropped my bubble in the coop gum once, I thought I found it three times before I finally did find it.. Hate to lose it before all the flavor is chewed out of it..

we are up to 24 new guinea keets.. many white ones..

I have 10 turkey eggs to set tonight.. I was not going to set any more, but what else can I do? Looks like all the inlaws and outlaws will get a fresh turkey for thanksgiving..

somebody asked me what kind of peafowl i have set... I do not have the faintest clue.. My neighbor brought them over and said; see what you can do with these..

I would really like to try hatching call ducks.. They sound like quite a challenge..

Bob was here and looked over my tines..said he didn't want to tackle the project.. thought the steel was too high in carbon and hard to weld.. I have another friend who might do it if I hit him on the right day and mood.. If not, I have one more friend left after that.. I should meet more people..(welder types)

I really liked it when my DD was dating a mechanic..
