I see from the purple poo in the yard that the birds found the berries. Told them to take a bucket with them next time. Got the no thumbs excuse again.

LOL.... I get that same excuse from mine! You would think after all we do for them, they could do a few chores!

some hill billies caught a theif one time.. they stripped him naked and tied him to a tree.. told him that they were going to set him free in an hour or so.. He thought," kind of embarrasing, but not really too bad of a punishment".. until they turned the calf loose and told him that it was not fed yet today..

Must have just started to leak too! Guess who gets to shimmy up on the roof to have a look!

And it's raining again!

Well, Ruddy came for a visit tonight to see how he would get along with the chickens.... He passed with flying colors!!! Even when the chickens had a scuffle he didn't go chase or bark! The neighbor's dog barked and he was fine! Duke couldn't have cared less that he was here. I was told Ruddy gets along with other dogs and cats and now we know chickens!

He's a lab mix and is a bit bigger than Duke. He knows basic commands, I'll have to work with him to see what else he knows. He's been a man's dog all his life, but he's going to have to learn to listen to ME! As soon as we get the rest of the fence up he can come to stay!

Now for the adventures of Jasmine and the kids!
Jasmine and the kids spent the day loose in the shed again. All was well all day... until roost time! The door between the shed and the coop has a glass window on the top half that opens like a door. I was in the coop and heard Jasmines frantic calls so I opened the door to look for her... no Jasmine! A few of her babies were in the corner between the door and the small coop and a ruckus was going on in the small coop. I looked and saw 2 of her kids being chased by the older chicks and keets! I rescued them and heard Jasmine again... then I saw her on top of the swing out window! With one of the chicks!!!!

That had to be a good 6 1/2 feet up! Her I could see getting up there.... but a chick!? WOW. I think she thought she could get in to "rescue" the babies from the top, but I have it covered because of the guineas. The only way I think the chicks could have gotten in (I think) is there is a bit of a gap by the door to the little coop. I'll have to fix that! Ahhhh!

Morning All! Wow it's moist out there! Bigz I planted 2 rows of dill one didn't do well but think I might have pulled some when I was weeding. The grass that was in with it had the same narrow leaves and I didn't realize it till it was too late.

And it was in a pretty shady area. The second row did great it was in more sun. The main problem is that I didn't plant enough and found out that the BFF had tons of it growing so I didn't replant. Have some red cherry tomatos this morning. Afraid to look in the big garden

Jim just like the woodpecker joke the tooth brush and calf is very old fortunately I'm getting there so they were all funny! Again.

Cind glad to hear Ruddy is gonna work for everyone! That is pretty weird about the chick in the window. Amazing lil boogers. BBP hope your mother hen heals up for you and her lil ones! Looked like the rain was gonna miss us today but it sure looks like it could any minute. Wanted to go get the drywall today, we'll see. Think Fric and Frac are gonna be educational tools for the DD Fric is already attacking me. He'll hide under the picnic table and when I walk within 10 feet he comes after me. Having bad thoughts again. Theres a Meyer catalog amongst other chicken books in the reading room. Black Australorps Hmmm... Need a bigger coop!

The prod reds aren't laying anymore think their either burned out or are laying in the weeds. Maybe just molting, hard to tell their so beat up from the boys. Something to ponder over winter. Need to get my mess from insulating put away so I can make another with the drywall.

come on a hatchery sells their birds for $3ish a piece and they don't feed the things.

stupid people! I told her I won't take less then $5 and even that is'nt enough. Let me tell you, if she asks me if I'll take less for them, I'm gonna RAISE the price! Either that or tell her (and yes I stole this from Jim) If YOU think YOU can raise them for less, I got some eggs in the house you can hatch, but they will cost you $2.50! so suck on that

) my "old" one is a countertop, 4 place settings lol with 7 people it should be ran 2x a day AT LEAST! and it doesn't hold anything bigger than a plate. so yes I am VERY happy, except that my kitchen is in ruins right now. Ooooo and MY favorite part, so DH has to rip a cabinet out and if you know anything about my house, his grandpa built this house and the cabinets, they went in in pieces, no FULL cabinets here. so DH had to take the cabinet apart ever so nicely to not ruin the counter top and once he gets the dishwasher built in, he has to build me a 14" cabinet next to it to fill in the gap between dishwasher and pantry. Soooo anyways, MY mother (no dear) tells me that, "well you got that spot new, why not just do the WHOLE kitchen!" WTH is that women thinking?? Even if we get discount cabinets, its still gonna cost $1000 for the cabinet! I'm just gonna pull $1000 out of my....

good morning, got up early,, it did not rain last night, so I headed out to the garden.. I got all the corn and beets and beans tilled. forgot about a piece of hose I had out there.. now I have a long one and a short one.. LOL

I might have to break down and spray the kale.. Now even the real large plants have quite a few holes in their leaves..

I broought the tiller back to the house and pressure washed it in preparation to take the tines off..

Annie took off in the opposite direction this morning and picked 5 quarts of raspberries.. another pie is in the near future..

the guinea who stayed in the pine tree over night was still alive this morning.. I tell you, it was a muracal..

I heard some ameteur crowing coming from the guinea pen this morning.. He better not let Annie hear him.. Queen Ann will say, "Off with his head !!!"

I am going to a wedding this afternoon.. an acquaintance of ours is getting married,,,,,for the fifth time for him !! just the 2nd time for her.. anybody want to get into the pool on how long this one will last ?? I am taking less than a year.. She is going to find out that he is not rich,, He is going to realize that her well to do parents aren't ready to cash in all their chips just yet.. and let us not forget her two teenage daughters, who are "so sweet" , turn out to be teenage daughters like all other teenagers.. LOL

I think I will go see what I can find for breakfast other than eggs or oatmeal..

Sounds like you need to take "mom" to the kitchen store with you and tell her to bring her check book. Bet that would squelch HER idea's. Told L that I'm only doing one room at a time here. Already have a couple of partially started rooms. Told dad this morning that was my plan and he asked if we were doing the big bedroom or the smaller one first? I told him that they were both the same size but one just has more crap in it than the other.

No drywall today Ray! Walked out to the big garden and found about 10 qts of ready to be pickles.

Can't get over how many blossoms they have this year. It's just nuts! Tried a different variety this year

Open faced roast beef sandwiches planned for tomorrow night along with fresh grn beans

Well no more losses but the hen and the duckling gave me a scare this a.m. I didn't see them in the stall, they were deep in the smaller roosting area, and are fine.
Off to nap now before a long afternoon.

Steamy Afternoon All.... thanks for the pic Raim. I was just thinking about it, and there it was.

Picked another ice cream pail of broccoli. Tomorrow suzie is gonna make creamy broccoli soup and broccoli salad. Hard to beat fresh from the garden stuff.

The one eyed roo is adjusting, but is scared of the other roo now and hangs by the grow out pen instead of roaming with the flock...then he constantly picks fights with the young cockerals....kinda his whole agenda now. Not a good situation for anyone. He is easy to handle, but makes life miserable for the young ones.

The waterers I like from premier one are the bucket waterers...click on poultry....then on waterers...I think it is the last one listed.

Talk later...storm moving in...time to shut er down!

NOT! she took the 10 chicks from my mamas, I left them with 2, DS6 frizzle and DS6 welsummer. and 4 12-18 week olds one of which was a del hen. if there is one thing I hate, is some strange kid in MY coops chasing MY birds

all that was doing was causing soon to be heart attacks. Yes I stopped him. after she got the ones she wanted, I let all the birds out. lets see you catch them NOW! lol ok he did catch a couple but only cause they wanted to be picked up lol NONE of which would I let him take
