If he's asking $300, why does it say "shed-$200" in the title?

HarryBun12! Glad to see new faces on the WI thread. Hope you like it here.
Sorry, I can't help you on the chicken hunt.
Whereabouts near Waukesha are you, if you don't mind me asking?

Well, It's been a while since I have been on. A couple days at least! Lots to catch up on. Sorry about the losses, welcome to the newbies and hope your toof starts feeling better jim!

I had some losses this week, and it wasn't because of heat. I tell you, Turkeys are the stupidest things! Had one drown in the duck pool and the other... I went in the coop this morning and it was there, dead, on the floor. Strange, I think it might have gotten trampled or something. Also lost a broiler. I don't know where it went, but it had gotten out somehow and I am going to assume a barn cat run off with it. So we are down to 7 broilers and 2 turkeys.

Thankfully no chicken losses that I would care too much about and the ducks and keets are doing well!

Have made the decision to go back to college and get a degree. At almost 30 I was worried about joining in a "young" just out of high school mentality so I looked into more adult learning colleges and it turns out Globe University in Onalaska would be a great fit! I am all enrolled and I start in October. I will be getting a Vet Tech degree! Something I have always wanted to do since I can't remember! Then having kids and getting married young, that kind of put a damper on that whole thing. But, hubby and I both feel that now is the right time

So wish me luck!

So... I have a friend looking into getting chickens. I have kind of gotten her started on the chicken math already... but she is looking into Araucana... is that the same thing is Ameraucana? She wants something dual purpose, but I told her if she eats an Ameracuana I am going to have to disown her as a friend!

Anyone know of a good way to break up a cement slab? It's not too big, but it needs to be broken to pieces so I can get my new coop all moved out of the current location and moved to the new area so I can get working on it. I tried to take the skidsteer today and get under it with the bucket, but after I got under it... it won't budge

Went out picking blackberries last night with my sister in law. Tons of fun. We saw some that are nice green that should be ready to go late next week, plan to make another trip and do it again. Tomorrow, I will be making a blackberry cheesecake pie! Yum!

After The Storm Afternoon All.... good thing we pulled the plug here earlier. We were slammed with some major loud run and duck kinda lightning, not alot of rain, but the garden got another drink. Sounds like more storms later tonight.

Yep, still waiting to see if the roo can stay.

Dornes good luck with education. Nope the aracauna is a tufted rumpless bird becuase of their shorter spinal column. They lay blue eggs, but are a foundation breed, unlike americaunas which are a composite breed.

Suzie had your soap out today bl4....just to fondle and smell

Welcome HarryBun12...glad you found the madness here!

Hi I'm from WI about an hour north of GB!

If any of you know where I can buy Wayandotte's in WI that are either show quality (perfered) of just good layers please let me know. PM or Email. And I forgot how to spell the blue/green egg layers that starts with an A but I'm looking for the same caracteristics in those. If they were bantams that would be even better since that's what I have now but I'd buy standard too.

Go Wisconsin!

Oh, for anyone interested in Northern WI, I have four Easter Egger chicks up for grabs, about a week and a half old now. Looks like some of the 'araucanas' I hatched are muffed and bearded! Thankfully some of the others in the hatch (from other breeders) came out tufted and rumpless. None of the breeders were on BYC, so no worries about anyone where selling araucana eggs that aren't araucanas!

They all came from lovely sky blue eggs. But since they aren't araucanas, which I want to focus on, to a new home they go! I have them listed on craigslist for sale locally, but they are free to any BYCer

Celt, I was thinking the exact same thing........

Dornes; CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I am so happy for you that you made the big leap and decided to go back to school!

I graduated from UW-GB in 2007 at 32. I found hanging with the 'young' crowd actally helped me out with my pre-teen kids! I had been out of the loop doing babies for so long that the students were a great source of info on the latest slang and so on! And Vet Tech! I am so jealous!!!! The only option for Vet Tech for the longest time was the Tech in Madison, and that was WAY too far of a commute for me!

I was priviledged to hang out with Tyler of Purely Poultry this afternoon. He says hello and told me he is so busy he has barely any free time.

Amy, I did not think that you had said anything snide or snotty. No biggie.

I have been in a bad mood the past few days..... must need more chocolate!

BigZ, I think I messed up those batches of soap (THIS is why I would not take payment).... I have a bar of the Rose out and I am using it (yes you can use it now), and it still has a bit of a 'funk' smell to it...... I think the milk was too old. I do thank all of you for being my guinea pigs and testing my products! I would LOVE to get my farm and be able to have soaping as one of my side incomes! Practice makes perfect as they say.....

HB12!

Looks like some rain is headed this way...... the city is having a big community festival tomorrow, complete with a roast pig (yes, an actual whole pig). I hope the rain does not mess things up too much.....

Evening all!

I have much to reply to but I'm so bushed I can't remember much so I guess I'll just say Welcome to the two Cheeseheads! Hope to see you around here!

Let's see, last night dh and I went to the Dane County Fair for the Small Livestock Auction. H&R's kids were auctioning off some turkeys and we were lucky enough to get one! A 32# tom. Over all it was fun and we enjoyed a chance to support 4-H kids.

Other then that, I mowed the lawn today and it was hot on that tractor! The lawn looks good though!

Oh! The Wheaten Ameruacana I got from H&R, Valerie, laid her first egg yesterday! None to day though. So far I have three pullets who are laying. A PR, Valerie, and I think a Barnevelder, I'm getting a dark brown egg.

That's about it here. I'm sure I missed something but I'm to tired to think what it is!

Chat soon

ATTENTION TO THOSE WHO WHAT TO GO OR ARE GOING TO THE SOUTHERN GET TOGETHER!!

I have a question to ask you all per my dh. He asked me this question: "Do you think the BYCer's would be willing to extend an invitation to the Southern Get Together to the fine folks at Mad City Chickens and Cream City Hens?" I told him that I did not think it would be a problem to invite them along to meet up but that I'd ask my fellow cheesehead peeps if they would mind inviting them.

I will also start a thread on the meet up section/thread to post the people who are coming and who is bringing what. I may do that tomorrow morning though, I think I'm off to bed....

Had to look up what the rest of the world called grinnys - 13 lined ground squirrels.

On hubby's computer, so can't type long, more later.
