Has anyone ever had a parrotlet? I think I'm going to buy one. Someone on Craigslist has some 9 week old babies for sale.

good afternoon, just finished a great pancake late breakfast (brunch) a few minutes ago.. I took Annie's car to the fixit man first thing this morning..
supposed to have a lady coming for some keets soon.. another lady called.. we think whe has called sometime in the past.. just nosey, we think..
nothing pipped in the turkey eggs yet.. have 3 wigglers and tossed 2 clears..
the baby peacok is getting his crown already.. Brian said we could trade him for a female if we want to..
deb, is that the striped furniture that DH picked out ? Thankfully not what I had pictured in my mind,,
I am going to put the charger on the lawn mower and see if I can get it started yet today..

Paradise Found will be hosting a meet for people to come and enjoy the company of other chicken people.
We are located near the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, IL.

Camping encouraged Saturday night in our 10 acre meadow.

There are great door prises.
It is a free event.
Family friendly fun on the "cheep".
No reaching into your pocket for food vendors, raffle tickets, carnaval rides, admission or parking.
We don't, but our friends do, "habla espaniol". We do Habla English and Greek though!
We are minutes from the Chicagoland Speedway, who often shoot off fireworks just for us to watch.
Trading chickens and you live in Wisconsin and they live in Misouri? Meet here!
Haven't had the cash to get away? Come on down! ( or over or up or sideways just get here )
Want to visit the National Cemetary but it's too far? Just use here as a stop along the way! We're a 40 minute drive away, straight down the road.

This August 20th, there will be a chicken people meet and greet at my farm. All Chicken people are welcomed. There will be camping and a bonfire. There is an indoor toilet. In case of inclement weather, we can move the whole thing ( except the bonfire) indoors as the farm is ready for such occasions. Indoors we can comforatbly accomondate 60 people in the same room.
Bring:
A dish to pass.
Your favorite beverages.
Bug spray
Yard chair
Friendly Dog(s) who don't chase chickens
Kids (on Leashes)
Other Chicken People
and a couple of laughs to share

Who can make it????
Children are to be supervised at all times as we have a creek, an electric fence, a swimming hole and Heaven only knows what other thing might endanger them.
We are a private farm, you are entering at your own risk and liability.

ok heres a funny for ya!
I have this thing with liquid soap, I just like it better?! IDK why? I just do, so anyways I took the bar of soap (the coffee one) that we got from BL4 and cut some small chunks off it and made liquid soap and put a bottle in each bathroom and the kitchen. I later that night went into the bathroom to wash my hands and the soap and bottle were no where to be found?? I found it empty on the floor?? now being that everyone was asleep I had to go to bed not knowing what happened or who happened to the soap. This morning when all the kids were awake I questioned them all as to what happened to the soap. My DS 8 with a puzzled look on his face says to me, HUH?! I thought that was just dirty water!
When I was filling them I was wondering if someone wasn't going to take those soap bottles serious! lol

Amery tried to pass a chicken ordinance and it did not pass. A few mistakes I think they made in writing it were: 7 hens per household and the interior temperature of the coop couldn't be cooler than 65 degrees. Do we live in Florida? You'd have to hook a furnace up to that coop in the winter! I think 5 hens would be plenty to keep a family in eggs. Anyway, some of the local residents made some really dumb arguements against it. Like chicken feed attracting rodents, that when the chickens molt the feathers would be blowing around the neighborhood, if approved people are going to want sheep, pigs and cows, the taxes are high in Amery and it would devalue property (wouldn't that be a good thing for the taxpayer?). Then some guy got upset because his development does not have a covenant against chickens. If they pass this ordinance someone could put chickens 25 feet from his property line! How terrible. I would never live in the city limits just because of this kind of crap. I would kill my nosey neighbors the first time they made a rude comment or complained about something I was doing in MY yard!

AAADD KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.....PLEASE READ! Thank goodness there's a name for this disorder. Somehow I feel better even though I have it!! Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests: I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys on the table, Put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, And notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back On the table and take out the garbage first. But then I think, Since I'm going to be near the mailbox When I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off the table, And see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, So I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Pepsi I'd been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks, But first I need to push the Pepsi aside So that I don't accidentally knock it over. The Pepsi is getting warm, And I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi, A vase of flowers on the counter Catches my eye--they need water. I put the Pepsi on the counter and Discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, But first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, Fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, But I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, So I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, But first I'll water the flowers. I pour some water in the flowers, But quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the table, Get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then, I head down the hall trying to Remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day: The car isn't washed The bills aren't paid There is a warm can of Pepsi sitting on the counter The flowers don't have enough water, There is still only 1 check in my check book, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, And I don't remember what I did with the car keys. Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day, And I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, And I'll try to get some help for it, But first I'll check my e-mail.... Do me a favor. Forward this message to everyone you know, Because I don't remember who I've sent it to. Don't laugh -- if this isn't you yet, your day is coming!!

Late Afternoon All....learned something new this morning when I was was doing chores....One of the blue ameraucana pullets was trying to crow....so I guess i have what I need to have fertile blue eggs next spring! I'll prolly house them 4 with the brahmas this late fall and winter.
PFF..thanks for the kind offer...I can't make it but it sure is nice to hear about a friendly neighbor to the south from here! I've wanted to make a trip to Garfield Farms for years. Wish you were farther north. I'd stop, rest, visit and head north. Hope you have a good turnout!
Raim, don't know what's going on yet for my surgery in Aug. Where is the shiocton market held? I'm familiar with the town and area.
BBP, I can't believe Amery is worried about chickens in town. Just blows my mind. Glad they weren't prepared...hope they never are.
