Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I'll post later when I have more time, but I just had to post this quick.

To BBP, I thought of you immediately after reading this review of that NightGuard predator repeller. If it works, it would be a pretty cheap theft deterrant. You could probably pick up some "fake" security signs to put down at the end of your driveway too?

We bought these to keep away weasels from killing our chickens and keep away the herd of deer that was feasting on our landscaping.

The good news is that they worked! No more dead chickens and deer have stopped eating our landscaping - However, the neighbor's landscaping is looking poor.

NOW for the Best News!

I ordered a pizza and when the delivery guy showed up (after dark) and saw the blinking red lights, he asked what kind of laser security system we had. I told him no worries I had turned it off before he drove up.

A week later my wife a ordered a pizza, different company different driver, same result. He asked about the security sensors.

3 more pizzas since then... same thing each time.

Our neighbors have even commented on the new security system we have and the menacing blinking red lights.

Best purchase we have made in a while.

Get some. They work on 4 legged and 2 legged weasels.

I really, really like that idea. We're likely moving to a neighborhood that's...not bad, but not great. I was going to get a larger dog to add to the crew because it's just me and the kids, but I love that idea, too, that people will think it's a security system.

Just popped in for a second cause I have to drink some ice water...holy humidity! I can hardly breathe. I might have to turn on the window unit just so I cna get it out of the house. My client was "cold" in his house...it was 78*!
Well the water is done and I have to go into town and pay my taxes...AARGH! Putting it on a credit card with 0% interest for 9 months...dumb idea? (probably...) later--Terri O

Oh, and belated:

Jack and Jill, from the day I got them (they got named Jack and Jill fairly recently, because we didn't know the sex of the white...he's Jack):

Wow, way way way too much to catch up on since not checking in over the weekend from fair! We did really well! The kids each got a blue ribbon showing their calves. My oldest DD got 4 blues and one red on her exhibits in the exhibit building. I received 9 blues and 1 red, as well as best overall photo (a trophy) in the photography (professional) category. I also placed with one blue on my baked goods.

My chickens missed me, they seemed to have anyways. Found almost the whole layer flock up on my chair this morning while I was out feeding them and relaxing in the watch chair.

I pampered them with some mixed fresh fruit and bread this afternoon. I think they forgive me!

Not sure what all has been going on around here. I did see some pictures, cute ponies WCC. And ducks, man are they ever adorable!

I am back.. useless trip to town.. went to the Husqvarna dealer to get parts for the mower.. they had a he11 of a time finding what I needed on their parts computor. after a long time, we decided to order what we think are the pulleys I need.. 2 pulleys and a v-belt = $80.oo I am glad I can do my own labor or we could triple that amount .. eh?

I have a piece of advice for anyone who ever buys a lawnmower, snowblower, etc... at the time of purchase , make the dealer write down all the numbers that you will need in the future to order parts.. ie Model number , Serial number .. and any other identifying number you can think of.. the days of going in and asking for a certain part are gone.. You will either need what I have listed or an actual part number.. taking the damaged part in with you will not be much help.. and expecting to not to have to order the parts and wait is futile..

tatoo that last paragraph onto the back of your least favorite child..

with nothing to do but wait for parts,, I decided to sharpen the blades.. at least that is done and all is ready for re-assembly..

we got only 4 keets out of the 50+ eggs I retrieved from the guinea pen.. Now something in there smells like an impending explosion.. I am going to toss the whole mess..

I am on grandma watch, so I will more than likely be checking in again tonight..

Thanks Celtic Chick, I'll take a look at that. I've decided to hold off on another dog because I want a male and I refuse to neuter so eventually the new dog and my golden retriever would probably fight. And I'd need fencing and twice the dog food. I may install cameras though. It would be nice to know what goes on when I'm gone or sleeping.

My oh my so much to say!

Zsazsa-have fun at the fair and we'll see you when you get back!

WCc-great pics of the ponies! I want one!! Makes me miss my Pony Princess....*sigh*

So where to start.....
I've got a melon in the garden that I *think* is ripe but the problem is I can't remember what type of melon it is!!! LOL!! Melons are ripe when they sound hollow when you thump them right?
Still waiting on the tomatoes to do their ripening thing and the Dragon Tongue Beans are just about to be picked. It's to hot today to mess with them....

Well, sad news. Miss Buzzy needs well wishes sent her way. I had a hen (Midge-the PR) manage to get into the Buzz-misters pen over night. Probably due to a roosting malfunction. Anyway, Midge beat the heck out of poor Buzz. Tore her up pretty well. Dh and I Blue-Coted Buzzy's back (scraped), head (two punctures) and her wings (scraped and torn skin) where Midge tore into her. We gave Buzz a shot of Penicillin and stuck her in one of the show cages. We gave her vitamins and electrolytes with sugar in her water and she has eaten a little. She did eat a raspberry too. Please send a little love her way as the next couple of days are going to be important ones for her to get through....
I feel so bad as a Pheasant Mom....I think I feel worse them she does...at least she still peeps to me when I call her name....

OK Emmitt is reminding me it is 6 mintues past Puppy Feeding Time.....

so question for you lovely folks. How do you keep the flies at bay? Tried fly strips, but my slow sweet and slightly off silkie ran into one of them and after bathing her today, she is still sticky from it. Hopefully it goes away. Trying to get out there often to clean up poop piles but they are still hanging around.
No mosquitos by us this year, just flies everywhere, but of course by the coop they are a bit worse. Any suggestions appreciated
