I'm sorry I forgot just who was looking for peafowl, but here is something to keep in mind for next year. I am in southeast WI and yesterday when I stopped at the Merton Feed Mill they told me that there is a lady who brings in pea chicks every year and offers them to a free home. The chicks for this year were snatched up already. So, for those of you who find this of interest, then remind me to check with them in Spring next year. OR, you could call Merton Feed Mill and ask them to keep you on a list.

Sounds good !!! Here's your reminder !!!

So where is Merton WI ??

WCC, I am so so sorry to hear about the return of that poor girls cancer. That is so sad. Where is she going for treatment? I'm sure they've (the girl) It also drives in case she wouldn't be able to ride.
I will definately keep her in my prayers. Do give her a special hug for me !!

I was going to mention that maybe Duke as another ear infection going on. It is so hard when they are that age, never know if is an old age thing or just an ordinary thing like an ear infection. Wish they could talk like the parrots hey?

Hey if everybody on Cheeseheads starts getting peafowl we'll be seeing each other on the Peafowl thread. Then we'll have to thread to keep up to.

I"m going to submit before I loose all of this.

Well, It's official. We are now the proud parents of a 12hh POA !!! Pony of America for those of you that don't know what that stands for. They come from crossing a shetland pony with an appolossa (sp).

I'm trying to upload pictures but for some reason it quits on me. I'm going to try rebooting computer to see if that does anything.

I drove Spice (I"ve been calling her Spice Cake) down the road at the previous owners place. She sure can zip along !!! Would you believe an 8 yr old girl trained her to drive? The story behind this little pony is she is 6 yrs old and came from an Amish farm. Then she went to a teenager that had her for a year. Then she went off to school so she sold her to the people I bought her from. They told this woman that she was well trained. Well she wasn't. She was real spooky. So this 8 yr old has worked with her since February with riding and driving. I guess she bucked her off about 3 times but not a problem with driving. Wonder if there is a saddle fitting problem.
Well, I don't plan on riding a 12 hh pony so that doesn't matter to me.
The only time we had a problem last night was when we went to turn she got a littl jumpy. Come to find out the shaft was to short on the cart and it was poking her in the side when she turned !!! The cart was actually to short for her as well. They gave me some harness parts because they had to take parts off of their harness to make this one work for her !! So now I'll need a new harness. I do have one that came with my haflinger that I can see if it can be made small enough otherwise anyone have a pony size harness they want to rehome?

So when we brought her home of course all of the horses were curious. And they weren't a kidding. This little pony will stand her ground. She would whinny and turn and kick at my big spotted drafts !!
lau.gif
So I spent the night grooming her and loving her up and of course my Queen (percheron/morgan) and Farah(my Spotted Draft/Friesan) wanted their share of loving too. So they all got a nice mane combing. Then Farah decided Spice Cake was going to be staying and decided she was going to lung against the fence and try to take a chunk out of Spice Girl. Spice girl was going to show her and kick her back.
Needless to say all of the big horses and donkeys were put in the back paddock for the night. I don't need any hoofs caught in fences. I like my vet but I only want to run into him in town !!
lau.gif

So I will go out there and fiddle around with her and the others today. She is going to be a fun pony to do parelli with. I also have to look at my carts to see if the wheels are the right size for a pony. She is taller then I thought which is good, I don't have any mini sized stuff and I don't need to have to buy any more.
We even have wheels to make a small hay type wagon that came with my haflinger. I will put that on the list to make it a Spice girl wagon.

Hangin I haven't been able to upload pictures. I'll try again today and if I can't get them uploaded I'll try to email you the adorable pictures of you son Nick with the Rooster !!

With all those critters that you have, do you think for one second that Bigz would fall for your excuse of coming to borrow eggs? Oh that's right, roosters don't lay eggs.
lau.gif

Way to go, TO! Sounds like you had a productive day yesterday. Maybe that why your get-up & go has got-up & left.
lau.gif
What kind of races are at Elkhardt Lake this weekend? Your roofer first got there at 9:30?
ep.gif
Mine were here at the butt crack of dawn banging on the darn roof when we had ours done.

That really works, Jim? Or are you being your usual self?

Sorry about your uko kei. How long did that gal have her cockatiel? Whenever I get a new bird, my cats get really interested, but after a week, they just ignore them. Tweety will land in the middle of them & the cats all run for the hills now. It's pretty funny actually. Then the bird goes strutting around in a circle like "he's the man".

Cind, cute pics! And
fl.gif
for Duke.

Carol, so sorry to hear about your client's niece. That is so heartbreaking when that happens to kids.

Deb, I sure hope they take those poor puppies to the vet too. I don't think I'd last 5 minutes at that job. I'd have grabbed those puppies & walked right out the door. Well ok, rolled. And I know exactly what you mean about hearing about everyone's wonderful gardens. Mom & I went to the farmers market in town yesterday & it just killed me to see all that stuff that I always grow every year but couldn't.
hit.gif
What made matters worse was one gal had some beautiful ears of corn so I bought a half dozen, only to get it home, cook it up & wound up giving it to the chickens! It tasted almost like feed corn. Very tough & not much sweetness left. Oh, was I mad!
somad.gif
Never again will I be without a garden! My corn last year was mouthwatering. I just can't believe people have the nerve to try to sell that old stuff. Guess they don't care much for repeat business.

Amy, thanks for the update on Shanti. I was getting worried about her. And so glad to hear the lamb's ears are doing good. They'll be taking over in no time!
lol.png

Oh, pretty birdie, Gael.

Congrats on the pony, FT, but to quote Cind, do you really need more animals?
lau.gif
I sure hope they all learn to get along soon for you.

To prevent my posts from poofing, I have one window open with this thread, and another window with a new e-mail in which I compose my post. My puter autosaves my e-mails as I am typing every minute or so, so even if I hit something that deletes it, most of my post is saved already in my drafts folder. Then I copy, paste & post. HTH

Absolutely beautiful day out there today, so why am I in here? Oh yeah, I'm chillin' wit my peeps! Hope you all have a productive day! I'm off to finish up the laundry. Is laundry ever finished??????

Some things I can't resist !!!! Would have come home with two puppies yesterday if they would have given them up !! There was a chocolate colore Chiuahua (sp) and a long haired whitish, black and tan tipped one the same size. They said they were full brother and sister. I thought for an instant that they had different fathers (which will happen with dogs -(SL*TS)and they said no full blooded brother and sister.
They were chiuahua (gosh I hate that I can't remember how to spell that
he.gif
) and a Bichon !!! ADORABLE little things only about 8 weeks old !!! Running around by the horses etc. She was puppy sitting for her daughter. She did put them in the house, good thing or either I would have shoved them in my car or they would have gotten stomped on by the horses. You know those little dogs have such brave personalities !! DH would have shot me if I came home with the puppies instead of the pony !!! And if I would have come home with all of them, well lets just put it this way, I wouldn't have been able to go home !!
lau.gif

Hey, we have 80 acres !!!! There is lots of room !!! I'm seriously going to have to cull some roosters if no one here wants any !!! I have tons of any kind you want. Silkies, BFCM, RIR pure Ameruacana, EE's. Take your pick. I will deliver to Racine area !!
TO you wanted a Domonique right ??

Maybe even give up some bantam cochin roosters. I have to check on that though.

FT are the pictures possibly too large? Are you uploading them to BYC ?

Maybe even give up some bantam cochin roosters. I have to check on that though.

LOL at first I was thinking they could join my crew of bantam cochin roos but then thought better of it
wink.png
and remembered the two LF cochins I have growing out who BOTH look to be roos *sigh* may have to have them join my roo crew. Hubby will KILL me soon HAHA Although their crows are not near as loud as the Barnies! WOW are they loud!

How is the pony doing FT? Can't wait to see pictures! HURRY IT UP WILL YA! HAHAHA
I'm suppose to be cleaning...better get back to work!
