Hi All!
Geeeeeeeeezzzzzz.....I miss a day and I have to read 15 pages!!! Wow!!! Chatty.....chatty....chat..ty...
Well, there was to much to read that I've already forgotten...sorry!
Although....
About the quail and egg turner question this is my take-I don't have an auto turner in my LG.....I personally have had terrible luck with auto turners so I don't use them. However, you do want to turn the turner off ir take it out of the incubator prior to hatch. Little baby chick parts can get caught in turners and that can be bad...so best bet is to just turn off the turner at lock down.
Cind-about your broody Orloff issue....IMO it's getting too late on the season for her to hatch out chicks. If you count 21 days from say today, that'd be Sept 8 hatch date. The munchkins start to feather out about 3-ish weeks or so, so that would be around the end of Sept. I think your hen is cutting it close..... as much as I hate to break a hens brood, I'd still break her brood. It might not take much time since she is not of a broody breed. If you do let her start the brood and she stops on her own, then I'd toss the eggs and not incubate/brood this late.
If I was back in Cali, I'd go for it this late in the season (but we'd be entering molt right now) but here in WI were snow can be on the ground in October, I think it's just to late to hatch....HTH
Dornes.....I can add some new FB friends....PM me with your info....and all I can say is TEAM JACOB all the way!!! I was totally Team Edward....but then after the movies, re- reading the books a billion times and reading interviews with Stephanie Meyer and talking with my BFF and my GF's, I came to the conclusion that Edward is hot but very very very creepy....Plus, I like dogs more then shiny rocks...
So, the story about the Dairy and Barbi the Malibu....
Our dairy neighbor was taking his manure spreader for a spin to the corn fields and dh when I were walking back from the local park. I noticed our neighbor just passed our driveway when he stopped and backed his rig back into his driveway. Ialso noted that smoke was coming from under the spreader and thought: "Oh man. Something happened to his trailer". Dh and I went into the house and I let the dogs out into the back yard. I saw my neighbor walking across our grass, so I went out our gate since he was coming over for some reason. They are super nice at the dairy but very busy so we don't get a chance to talk a whole lot. Anyway, he comes over all embarrassed. Turns out the smoke I saw was his tire being sheered off of his spreader. He was driving and watching the tire roll past the mail box, past the electrical pole, last the cable box, and BAM!! right into our new car. He kept thinking "Oh NO!!! Don't hit the car!!!! Why couldn't it hit the mail box!!!" So, he came over to tell us and collect his tire. It weighted more them me.... I'm still finding sheered off bolts....He told us where to take the Malibu to get a quote for the repair so he can fox the damage. He thought we'd be mad but dh and I told him that no one got hurt and it could have been a lot worse if that tire had rolled into on coming traffic. Anyway, we went to the auto body shop and they know our neighbors so that was good. They will send a quote to them and let us know when to bring in the car. Just as a idea, dh asked the auto body guy for a ball park figure....scratched bumper and a small dent=~$1200 to $1500 to fix.* sigh*
Other then that, I got my paneling and lumber for the "coop"/car port wall, my "coop" door and a window. I also got some vent like objects. And paint. I need to paint everything before next week....So I might not be on here often.
Ok, gotta get dinner of the grill....
In the spirit of all the potato talk.....
later.....taters LOL!!!!
eta: I'm a geek and can't spell....
