I joke about sticking it to all the Southerners by calling our church...

The Superior Southern Baptist Church.

Finally got a light set up in the coop, would you believe that my light has a 3 inch round junction box attached to it that hide the connection of the wires and a mouse made a nest in it. The hole to get in it was a half inch big. The mouse ate all the wires of course, but luckly all it need was to be rewired, not a big deal. I set my light up for a couple hours in the evening, make it nice for going down to the coop, since it is getting dark earlier.

You're kidding, right? It seems you're always doing something. Weren't we scolding you sometime after your surgery when you were digging up something because of the pressure on your eyes?

Hmmm, gloomy day today.
$13.99 for 20lbs of BOSS at Tractor. Saw it in their sale flyer today. That used to be the price for 50.

Made rotissere chicken, stuffing, corn & pear crisp for dessert. Tasty! And that was about the extent of my physical activity for today.

Other than that, I pretty much got nothin'.

Chicken poop! Sorry, Jim, but I think this one might last longer than the cakes.

good evening.. I was not home since about 7PM last night. hence no posting or reading..

I am going to reply as I remember, No names..

I only started using the 1/2 & 1/2 ground oats and corn.. too soon to tell if the egg production will go down.. I am hoping to put some fat on the birds to help them stay warmer this winter..

I kind of liked the goiter pills..

I stopped the last incubator today.. tossed about 6 dozen quail eggs and 2 dozen maran eggs.. the neighbor lady bought them at a swap..($1.oo/doz) either the guy had them refrigerated or he did not have a good rooster.. none of them actually even started to form..these are not really the best colored eggs anyway.. Not much darker than my barred rock eggs.. I told her to wait until spring and I would try to get some real nice dark eggs for her. hint-hint

Ken, try giving your chickens some animal fat, suet , or just plain meat.. that might help with the feather plucking..

In my 1911 book of farming, it says to hang a head of cabbage just out of reach for the chickens.. so they will have to stretch and maybe jump to peck it.. for a treat and for winter coop exercise..

Sandi, when you said $300.oo for a brake job, I thought that sounded cheap.. I will PM you in just a little while..

I am getting nervous.. waiting for the POOF and gone post..
I hate for that to happen, and I really do not want to do 2 posts.

Hi all...hey Troll; just a suggestion. It is not as good for you but I have read that it is better for the birds...if you let them go to roost normally at dusk and have the light go on waking them up at 1AM and go out again when it gets light it is less stressful than if they are up and all of a sudden the light goes out. I used to do it your way too until I read this. Now I wear a headlamp when I go outside or carry my flashlight.
Got lots done here today with the Flylady Bingo game. ALL of my summer clothes are now away and the winter and fall ones are out to use. Man I have a LOT of clothing! I think it is time to give some of it up...in reality who needs a turtleneck in every color of the rainbow x 5? Hey Deb...need any? My Mom shops and buys one of every color...then she decides she needs to give them all to me...of course I already had my favorite colors...guess what? SHe called to day and said she has cleaned out her closet again and has BAGS for me! OH oh...going there on Friday to pick up the potatoes my Dad got for me and my friend...their cottage is near the potato place in Plover and I always have him get me some...

Dinner was fabulous. I sure am enjoying all that butternut squash I grew this year! I wanted to have brussels sprouts along with it too but there was no way I was going out in the pouring rain to pick them! What a wet day! When I let the dogs in they were so disgusting that I made them stay in their crates until we were done with dinner and then I gave all 3 baths! Sure am glad I washed the white woodwork today...

OK I guess I am going to head to bed...working tomorrow so it will be an easy day compared to being at home! At least I wont be physically tired...just mentally! ONe of my clients let herself get dehydrated so I have been on the phone with her every day to make sure she is drinking water! She was hallucinating and calling her sister in Chicago and telling her that I was going to put her in a nursing home! Good thing her sister and I are on the same page with this!

OK--nighty night and sweet dreams all around! Terri O
