What a day... How about a couple of beers and then I will talk church and or politics. First round on me tonight.

2 Fights at work and then a 2 hr long conversation with a brilliant young man who is hung up on how ugly he is...

This GLW is frustrating me too. One day pecking the next not and so on and so forth... I am heading to the feed bin in the morning to get some treats/suet for these birds...

We had bruss sprouts for supper with meatloaf.. i could make a meal on fresh, just buttered b-sprouts.. Annie said there were about a dozen more plants in the garden yet.. these are the finest ones we have ever grown.. that extra chicken s#!t in each hole must have done it.. I went heavy on composted manure on most of the plants this year.. we didn't always have lots of it before.. I have a large pile of it, now. about 10 cubic yards.. I roll it over every once in awhile with the tractor loader..

I got the two large pens moved today.. I stragically spaced them for easier snow plowing..

39 years.. congrats to you two.. Annie and I just completed 48 in Sept.. when we hit the 40th year, she made me go with her for a nice portrait.. her reason will kill you.. she wants to use it for our 50th,, you ready for this ? "because we will look so much better than we will at 50th"

I let the largest young turkey loose for the first time today.. He was hatched at the same time as the peacock and they have been together ever since.. the peacock called all afternoon for the turkey.. at dark the turkey laid down next to the pen, so I picked him up and put him back in.. I guess tomorrow I will have to let them both out together... I have one guinea who stays with her turkey litter mates.. I counted the guinea flock this morning.. 30 of them as close as I could count when they ran past me..

Thank you CC that is a good link. I did a lot of searches but never found that one. It really explains the symtoms well and distinguishes between the two. He does not have impacted crop, thank goodness, so I dont need to do surgery.

It is slow and sluggish so I need to watch him carefully. I hope I will not have to flush and turn upside down. That sounds like it could be fatal.

KEN try hanging a ball of cabbage in the air at head level. And put a mirror out there so they can look at themselves, they love that. As long as nobody gets in a fight with themself.

Thank for the advice on the light TO, it make a lot of sense to let the chickens have natural dusk and not just light out and dark.

I had an o.k. crop of brussel sprouts this year, I think I planted them too early. When do you guys get them in the ground? I start seeds in the greenhouse and then transplant them and I transplanted in the beginning of july. We had some hot weather after that and from what I read if the weather is too hot the heads don't want to set or they are loose. A couple years ago we had a bumper crop, but I can't remember the timing I used. We like them sauted and then Brags vinegar.

Well last night mine posted 3 times, must have been lucky!

Got squat done today, was going to go to town but DH called and said the "tags" to the van were in the car (that he had) and I didn't feel like fighting the truck door. (It's been bent and won't close tight, people keep saying they will fix it, but no one has!

) Anyway, I didn't go so twice as much to do Fri. DH brought home about 20 pallets for fire wood. He can knock 'em apart and I'll cut 'em up. Guess we burn 'em when we can be around to keep stoking the fire. We need more big long lasting logs.

May have lost one of the grey guineas...

Made gizzards and gravy on biscuits for supper.... yummm comfort food!

Hi all, CC , either I missed that, or while I was jerking around trying to post, somebody posted before me.. lately it takes me over an hour to get a post to go through , if it goes at all..

I just won't play that game anymore, how about that ?

I have been toying with the idea of not even posting .. It is not worth the agravation..

I leave a light on 24/7 in the chicken coop. it doesn't seem to bother the birds.. they sleep outside in the bright sunlight, so a small light shouldn't bother them.. a few times when it was minus 20F I had 100% egg production.. and none of my chickens are flighty.. here is where CC will say it is because they are so tired ..

TO that meal sounds sooo good! Jim that joke is soo old! Dooda Dooda. We have train tracks a half a mile away and when it blows it's whistle the yotes sing along.

Well it looks like I'm a two tractor man now. Dropped a nice oak yesterday cut it into the usual lengths to drag it out hooked the Ford to it and moved it maybe 4 feet in 5 minutes. Got mad and went and got the Case from the road side hooked up to it and drug it the 100 feet to the splitting area without hardly a grunt. Think the bucket and frame on the Ford are too heavy for dragging. Now I REALLY need a new out building with coop.

Gonna drop and drag another big one today supposed to be windy Sat. and Sun. will split them then. Don't like being in the woods when the wind is blowing

Sounds like snow next week, it's that time of year. Wonder if Deb will move her puter next to the wood stove?

Need some laying hens.
