Morning Everyone!

Sunny here this am. We are nice and warm here inside again. Had the furnance back up and running by 3 pm yesterday and DD and I finally stopped being cold. Have 1 on the couch who is not feeling- DS(9) was throwing up early this am and is running a low grade fever so he will have the job of holding down the couch.

MLH- hope your DH's leg starts getting better sounds painful.

TO- they talked about Jefferson on 26- haven't heard anything more.

DrH- might need to cut back on watching the Indiana Jones movies over and over

Jim- I hear you on waking up and not being able to get back to sleep! That happens to me alot of nights, of course it doesn't help that the Irish Setter decides to start barking at 1, 2 or 3 am in the morning(she does this on a regular basis).

Eggs will be going off the turners tomorrow so we will be hopefully having a good hatch!

great I'm anxiously awaiting there arrival.

Not much new here was sleeting this am when I got up then some snow flurries, but not bad out there so far today.
The chickies are playing in the snow, along with the kiddo's who are here for xmas since Monday, and go back to IOwa Sat. Not a type O that's what I call it. the wa is for there whine arse mother.
anyway just checking in to say hello...... all Kim​

Cindlady, so sorry to hear about Duke. That smell could be from his kidneys shutting down. Poor fella. I too hope he goes in his sleep. You may need to crank the heat up for the old fella. How sad.

Our Chocolate lab is in getting spayed today. I have to pick her up between 3 and 5pm.

Have tons to do today, no energy, I'm still recovering from Christms. Cookies are gone so my sugar high is gone and I'll no doubt have withdrawls !!!

No coffee today. I only have a jar of instant decaf. Yuk !!

Glad you're back Jim. Drink some warm milk when you wake up that early, lay in bed and start reading, that ought to put you back to sleep !!! I used to wake up a exactly 3:10 am (guessing at time) for a long time. Your body clock needs reprogramming. Don't ask me how to do that though !!!

Ok, enough procrastinating !!! Have to go collect eggs, hope they're not frozen !!

we are hatching(hoping to atleast)

, from 3 different pens of Andalusians, 2 different pens of Welsummer and 1 pen of Lt Brown Bantam leghorns. also testing out the new wine-bator that DH put together!

fired up the old incubator to start a 2nd group going- same breeds just trying to get a few more of those who weren't laying as well the 1st time around. Also collected 1 Wheaten Ameraucana egg from DS(6)'s girls- 1st one again in a long while

we didn't keep any of the chicks from this years hatch so I promised he we would hatch more.

I am from Southeast Wisconsin. We had chickens for 2 years, but then we moved and the chickens went with the house

We are going to be getting more chickens this spring. I am looking for someone close that breeds Faverolles. The only place I can find is Mypetchicken, which is fine, but I would rather find a local place to get them. I think it would be fun for the kids. I figure this is the best place to ask. There is so much info here. So, does anybody know where I can find some Faverolles?

There is a guy who sells tons of chicks at 7 mile fair every year, but he is expensive and I'm not quite certain if he has favs or not. He usually has a few dozen different breeds, though. From what I have heard, he drives around the state and buys chicks from different hatcheries/farms. He posts an ad on Craig's List in the spring, as does a Horn Feeds in Trevor, I think, that carries a lot of different breeds.

I'm sure you'll get a lot more responses with better info than mine here on this thread. Glad you could join us & hope you find what you're looking for.

ETA: They aren't local, but Meyer Hatchery carries them if you can't find them elsewhere.

The hatchery Purely Poultry is in Wisconsin and I think south centrally located. I am not sure if they have Favorelles but it would be worth it to check.

Afternoon All.... Welcome to the Cheeseheads Magnolia.

OOPS... not quite right tiki... While Tyler lives in Fremont Wi, he is not a hatchery but a middleman who has his chicks dropped shipped from Ideal hatchery...etc.

Had to shovel today around the house...Is it Spring yet?

Cut up a Jack pine that tipped over. Not real big prolly 15 blocks that need to be split. Might have to pull the splitter out in the near future if we get a nice day.
