Halibut is good stuff.

Just got home from a monthly meeting at church....now it's time for a stiff tall cold one or two. If folks want a bash again it's prolly time to decide where and when. It's up to you'all. If Camp is considered the only open dates for May are Friday, Sat, Sun, 4, 5, 6, which is prolly to early for good weather May Friday, Sat, Sun, 18, 19, 20 and only one week in June is Friday, Sat, Sun, 22, 23, 24. July is booked. Not alot of choices I know. It books fast and some reserve their time a year in advance.

Hope everyone has agreat day tomorrow...it's gonna be a dandy for Janurary. Hope the Saints spank the Lions this week end. That would be

I vote for the 18,19,20th of May !! or the first week !!! Can you tell I am hot blooded and hate hot weather. Especially if we decide to camp. I'd rather sit by the hot fire all night to keep warm then sweat like last year !! Wasn't that like 100 degrees that day ? It was in June right ?

Ok, my vote is in !! Kinda liked sleeping in the bunk room, OM and I had it all to ourselves !!! Jim had the whole room to himself across from us. I know this because I opened the door and he was fast asleep, Snoring like a mad man !!!

The halibut is from our trip to Alaska in July. We brought back 80lbs. My 8 yr old son caught one that was 84 pounds. My husband and his friends each got smaller ones, then they split the meat. Too bad I gave the cheeks away because I had no idea what they were.

Congrats FT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bigz, I absolutely love your camp. It was a perfect location & accomodations, IMHO.
Any of those weekends works for us, but I would like to vote for the week in June, though. Sorry FT.

May's weather can be a little too unpredictable, don't you think? June usually is a little calmer, and not quite so wet?

I'll try to get some pictures of the new little chicks tomorrow or Saturday. Hopefully the little dutch bantam hatches. It had movement yesterday !!! They are tiny little chicks !!

Hi all!

Other than the ants, I really liked where we were last year! Maybe in May there won't be so many out yet

Isis (the kitty) fallowed me to the coop today. She thought it was really nifty with all those new, interesting places to explore. The chickens did not share her enthusiasm!

Congrats on the hatches!

Not much to say so Night all!

Good Morning Everyone! FT

Yes pics please! You mean to tell me ET didn't take the cheeks out of those wallydogs? It's the chunk of meat on the gill plate. Excellent who devours!
droolin.gif
Take your finger and feel around on the gill plate you'll find em. My vote is for the end of May weekend. I'm with FT don't like the heat! They say layers are the trick to staying warm. Cold air, warm fire, and cold beer!

Ghost; Sometimes local game can't support a large pride and they must be thinned for the health of the pride.

Definitely going to be another outside day today. Wood in, clean the coop, and check the chimney. Jim I always put something down under rubber tires that sit on the ground. Think it helps prevent dry rot. And sticking to the ground

Does your gosling have a buddy yet? H&R what was the final count on your hatch? Went to the marsh yesterday. I got back.

Not a nibble.

Didn't take the auger only spudded out a couple of holes. 6" of ice. Still a nice day on the ice, except for my sore elbow that ice is HARD! Think today will be an excellent day for brats and burgers on the grill. Should start the tractors today too. Yup Tomski can't beleve it's the end of the first week of Jan and I haven't plowed even once. Maybe the June date might be better.

Should probably dig out the TV for the hatchlings. The list gets longer

Get out in the sun today people! And I should go get some straw... I gotta get a piece of paper.

I love Halibut! I was stationed in Adak, Alaska for 6 months back in 80' and we used to try and get out every time the weather was cooperative (We used to fight for the cheeks!). Fast forward 20 years - Living in North Carolina and used to go "Gigging" (or spearing) Flounder at night. They look like baby Halibut (2-10 lbs). Taste just as good but you don't get those BIG Fillets... If memory serves me correctly, I think minimum length was 14 inches... I remember stabbing some MONSTERS that I thought were gonna break my gig - I still have three gigs in the garage.

Never tried Venison Bacon.... Don't think I've even heard of it. Have to look into that.

Chicken swap between FT and myself is all set-up for 1300 today. Bert the Rooster is sure gonna miss the Lavendar... She follows him EVERYWHERE. Well, maybe he won't miss that...LOL Hopefully the four hens added to the flock find their place within the pecking order fast. I hate it when there is a lot of fighting... I like happy chickens - living in perfect harmony, kinda like a feathered version of the Brady Bunch
big_smile.png

I'm actually thinking about swapping out the wood stove in the garage with a "newer" version. Found one on craigslist last night, now I'm doing a little bit of "haggling." If I can him down to my price, I'll have a HEAVY project this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

No sun here today - kinda gloomy with that cold/moisture air.

Can't really get into any big projects today - the Chicken Swap is smack dab in the middle
big_smile.png
So I guess I'll do some MANLY things around the house; vacuum, dust, mop, windows...etc.

Laters everyone!
