AWWW--she is adorable! So this was a coop egg? Sheesh--now you have ME confused...sure is nice to see one of my "offspring" though! (whatever it turns out to be...) Any muffs or beard? can you tell? There is that black Ameraucana in there along with the 3 Tobies. (Australorpes) And LOTS of black hens...they are my favorite! Congrats again! Dont you feel like the proud Papa? Anything else happening in that bator yet? Was this day 19 or 20? Still early yet...remember, you will have to keep it running longer for that "mystery egg!"
Got the flock fed...YES--they were very hungry! Corn just doesnt do it for them! Then I fed the dogs and let them out. Something moved on the porch! WHat the? Good thing they werent expecting it...it was one of my blue AM hens. No idea why she thought the porch was a good place to roost for the night.
I grabbed her and put her in the bathroom so I could get the dogs past her and get my coat on (again) and take her out. Her crop was totally empty so I turned on a light in their coop (the one I just built) since it is supposed to be 3 degrees tonight. I gave them a few handfuls of laying mash in the coop--hopefully she will be the one to eat it! SHe is an odd one--no tail and the only one that doesnt have a red comb. I think she may not ever lay...her pin bones are very close together too...another time will tell for sure!
Anyone hear anything from Jim? Can one of you "in the know" explain how you do the internet without a computer? I dont think he is using a "Smart Phone"....
Well I am quite certain that I need to do more insulation in the basement...the toilet froze again this morning at 20!!! It hasnt thawed all day either. I wonder if the boards and insulation I put in last month somehow is directing the remaining cold air right to the pipes? I went down there today and it appears that something is still getting in--I saw a few more holes in old insulation right near the toilet pipes. Dam^ rodents! Guess I will have to feed them some good stuff again tomorrow!
Have to take DD19 to the HS--they have an Alumni band night for the girls' basketball game tonight...havent watched one of those in a while, maybe I will stay...have some soup simmering on the stove...it is starting to smell good. Kind of a "kitchen sink" soup for sure! I really need to go to the grocery store--maybe tomorrow! I sure wish refrigerators were auto cleaning--there is NO ROOM in there for any more food but the people are saying that there is nothing to eat! HA!
Just heard from Jon Tesch that walnuts are a really good thing to eat! (DUH) "As few as 7 walnuts a day provide enough antioxidants to ward of several types of cancer.
Supposed to be 30 this weekend! Yep--spring is on it's way...gotta run--later? Terri O
