Amberflea! I hope you like the Cheesehead thread. We're always happy to have new people join us.

You got me on that one, Raim. That vet should have been able to tell you. If the dog was dead, then I'm sorry, but obviously he wasn't as healthy as a horse! He must have had a heart problem, organ failure, stroke, cancer, something that caused him to die. I'm really sorry to hear that, in any case. It is so hard to lose a beloved member of the family, especially when it is so unexpected.

Jim's dog is a Maremma. It is an Italian sheepdog, very similar to a Great Pyrenees.

Here's a picture of my Great Pyrenees female River. Not the best picture. I was sitting on my ATV.

Thanks for the link FT....that's a fair price I'm thinkin. I'd kinda like to get some more light brahmas.

What breeds did you get from him? They must be shipped to him from somewhere, eh?

Evening All!

Lots to catch up on! The Girls are all good and they ventured outside a little since the weather was warmish!
Moved some of the pullets into the coop in their little pen and they are getting used to it. So now Buzzy has some neighbors! They seemed a little wide eyed but once they realized that all their friends were present and accounted for, they just went about their business.

The rabbits are all good and I saw more movement in the Fur Mound in the Champagne's box. I can't wait to see the babies. I have to really control myself when I'm taking care of her not to poke around in the box for a look at them, LOL!

Welcome to BYC Amberflea!

Jim-Nora is pretty and the rooster is good looking.

bf4-those chicks of your are cute! Love the barn photo shoots! Sorry about the loss of the little one.

raim-that's to bad about your aunts dog. There could be a number of things that could have caused it. An aneurysm could be a definite possibility. Sometimes a vet can find the cause without a necropsy but sometimes they have to do a necropsy to find the cause. Usually a blood panel will indicate what is going on, but I myself have had pets with very ambiguous blood work with out telling my vet anything conclusive to help fix the problem.

BBP-At least you got that poor stray cat and did the best thing your could for him.

Ok off to go wash dishes!

Checked in on my chickens, things are looking good and everyone is tucked in. Made a couple of chocolate pecan cookies and tossing a couple of beers back. Steven's Point 2012 Black Ale is pretty good, smokey and kind of sweet. Now I am drinking a Floppin' Crappie Ale from Northwoods Brewing Corp. out of Eau Claire.

I love local breweries.

I am looking at feather shape on my November hatch chickens and have 3 that are rounded with longer tails and one that is pointed. 3 hens and a roo right?

Hope you have a great night,

KEN

I am sure BigZ has a better idea of who is hatching what. My MIL has always gotten her birds from Sunnyside, but she would get RIR or PR. I talked her into the EE's.

The Lefse recipe I have is from the grandmother of a friend.
6 c riced potatoes
appx. 1 1/4 c flour (add by 1/4c mix in until dough is no longer sticky)
3 T butter
3 T heavy cream
1 t sugar
1 t salt

Rice potatoes while still hot into a large bowl and allow to cool. Add flour to potatoes and stir until just mixed, add remaining ingredients mixing well after each addition. Knead for 2-3 min, dough should not be sticky. Form into balls (recipe makes about 15-18 balls, about 2" diameter). Roll out on floured cloth with a cloth covered rolling pin that is also well floured, trying to roll out dough as thin as possible. Cook on an un-greased griddle set at *450 until bubbles form, flip and cook until brown spots are visible through lefse. Cool between 2 paper towels, pack into ziploc bags. Keeps 1 week in fridge or can be frozen.

ALDI's had a doorway chin-up bar for sale this week, so I bought one. Now I think there are going to be daily contests between the kids of who can do the most chin-ups! LOL! No problem with me!

LOL kids are always planning new games and new fun .thats a good thing gives moms a break..
Ty for the recipe I can't wait to try it.... also the links to hatcheries. Kim
