Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Thanks for posting the links with all the breeders. Cant find an actual site for Wolff... does anyone know what he usually has as he is just down the road from Carol and me...

Beautiful day today ... cant believe how warm it is getting. Of course I am working inside today. The chicken run was a muddy swampy mess yesterday, maybe it will be warm enough to dry some of that yuck up.

good morning, not much news from this neck o' the woods.
Tom, for a table top plucker, speed is not a real big issue.. just use a small drive pulley and a large driven pulley. the plate rpm in the tub style is around 200 rpm. mine is geared down to 191 rpm.
I have 2 of the table type pluckers also.. one is a real cheaply made one and the other is an industrial model. try to find an old table saw and use the base and body for your frame.. I took the top off of a motorized table saw.. I am searching for a drum about a foot long and a foot in diameter.
I really have to do something about the width of these posts. It is even a pita to type these loooong lines.
I have to try again what Brent suggested, but I did not find the word he suggested..

Nore would not come in last night. she slept on the deck.. good dog..

Jim - Scroll down, just below the posts you will see Preferences. Click on that, a screen will come up and there will be a series of Yes/No preferences for viewing posts.

Make sure that that "View forums in full width" is checked NO
and "Constrain threads to constant width" is checked NO

Hope that helps...

Morning all!

Everyone here is doing great! Other then that, I'm waiting on egg collecting. The Girls have been laying later then normal the last few days. I think this weather has them thrown for a loop!

bf4 sorry about Star. I wish I could help you with getting her a friend and I hope someone can help you out.

Well, I've better get going...need to do laundry...and sweep, and return a vacuum I bought that is just pure junk. Managed to kill it in 2 weeks.
Later taters...

Happy New Year, everybody! (Better late than never, right?) I was having problems logging in and I just gave up and just read messages for awhile to let the dust settle from the old system and new. Tried to reset my password today and it worked, so here I am! Sorry to hear of the pet losses and am very jealous of the new hatching going on! My incubator is in the basement but I have to sit on my hands as I have absolutely no business hatching any more as I'm not legal now as it is... Last time I wrote I mentioned losing a little silkie that was about 6 mo. old and then her sister died a few days later. I later saw some red nightshade berries and wondered if that's what killed them? I try to get rid of it but it springs up all over! Anyhow, I bought a little silkie advertised on Craigslist not knowing she was a bantam (she's so sweet). Then I bought 2 blue marans from Cheryl (Hens and Roos) and ended up getting two more bantams off Craigslist (one's a turken, forget the name of the other -- but it's beautiful even if it doesn't look like a chicken!) so I ended up with 5 to replace 2!! Darn chicken math! I've got 3-4 hens laying eggs again although it's not regular. I should double check the duck pen to see if they are hiding eggs in there....

Anyhow, just wanted to drop in and say hello. Love this weather, especially the sunshine. Is any body starting seeds this month? I think Feb. is when to start brussel sprouts? Does anyone know when to start fennel?

Take care!
Elaine

It had to have been CC. She's sweet and all, but a very corrupting influence if you ask me!

I believe it was CC that started the untimely hatch!

Actually the more I think about it I think it was Doc that got the ball rolling with this hatching addiction !!!

I was going to ask you before Star died what are you using for heat source in your brooder? It is very important to keep them warm. Start out at 95 degrees and lower it 5 degrees every week.

CRS what else I was gonna say. Oh, TO no I don't think the piglets are sick. He said there was a family issue that he didn't want to get into. When I called him yesterday I heard people in the background, don't really know what that means but he said he couldn't talk then so I"m assuming he was telling the truth. The piglets he is selling are raised at his place.
I guess we shall see. I spoke with the vet that will neuter Porky an she is his vet, I would think she would have mentioned if she was just at his place or anything.

Ok, gotta try to wake up here. Still have this weird kind of cold going on !!!

In case you're all wondering why you need to neuter your pot bellied pigs, well this picture speaks for itself. This is the farm version of a chihuaua humping your leg !! This is not my pig and pony btw, a piggy friend sent this to me !!! Too Cute hey?

Huh... That's a new kind of barnyard porn... LOLOLOLOLOLOLO!

And I wish younger closer Ms FT... I would be hounding you for visitation right on all these silkie babies, and lavender chickens!!!
