Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey guys... My chicks are pooping machines and have discovered how fun it is to poop in their water. I'm thinking nipple drinking system is gonna happen. Who uses it? Any tips for me getting started on it? Any info on this would be great !

BF4u: Is this your first time with chicks? If so, something i learned quickly from BYC'rs is to raise their waterer off the floor a few inches with a brick or board-way easier to keep the pine shavings out.

say question out there.... those in the madison and surounding areas.... would anyone have an incubator they are not using this month that they would loan me?

Just noodling this around, but there is a bid site on fbook, and someone has standard sized RLB Wyandotte eggs that they are selling... if I can get a cheaper bid(starting at $20 wtih $14 shipping) than the original quote the lady gave me, would love some! They are a tough breed to find and I went in on a hatchery order last year for some and they ran out and we did not get them. Unless someone else knows a good lead on these?? Just checking- you guys are my first stop!

Now it's a good morning everyone! They worked on the wireless towers until 6 AM. I called at 6:30 no internet and spent an hour trying different things, they scheduled a tech to come out. The gal I spent all the time on the phone with called me back to try it again. Turns out I was the first to call and she got many more after me. They went back to the tower and VIOLA it was their fault. Whew! I was just mere seconds away from opening the paint can. Too late to get started on that!

And Jim and others. Just sucks! I clean out one brooder box yesterday and the other today and changed the 250W heat lamps for the last 2 incandescence in the house. They seem to be just fine with them. Thinking might be butchering sooner than I figured their feathers are coming in pretty well now almost to the ugly stage. Lots of chest bumping going on. Think TO gave me a lot of rooster eggs. Boy is FT gonna find a surprise some morning at the Draft Apple Roo Ranch!

Yeah Right !!!! I do think however I should change my farm name to Draft Apple Roo Ranch or Draft Apple Roo Rescue !!!

Bf4m I bought my nipple waterers from a fellow BYC'r Mr Peeps. I paid $1 each plus shipping which is half price from what I paid thru Farm Tek catalog. Now I just ordered some more on Ebay for about $.60 each. I didn't get them yet so I don't know if they are the "cheap" ones that Mr Peep talks about.

So far my silkies are using them in some of the cages but I have found out that you have to have them up high enough or they get water in their litter.
I need to get shorter pails to make them higher.

If you want to keep ducks and geese out of the waterer, get one that you can hang.. if it swings away from them they cannot climb into it. however, as with a stationary waterer, they can still slobber a lot out with their mouth.. best way yet, water them outdoors.

works just as well with chickens..
