Had to fold some laundry, fish some cat toys out from under the stove and have breakfast with DH. He made some egg, sausage & cheese sandwiches on toasted hardrolls. Yumm! Now dishes await.

Ang, I would guess your black sex linked are the double yolkers? My PRs laid a lot of them. Interesting mystery you have going on with the green eggs. Keep us informed. I'm also glad to hear Wally is doing better. You're a good chickie mommy.

MLH, that is great that you found such a good home for your pullets. I'm sure they will be very happy hens.

Sunny & beautiful looking here too, TO. I'm so glad that wind died down. That'll chill you to the bone, for sure. I agree about your sentiments on Whitney. All that fame & fortune and look what happened. What a shame. I'll take my boring, mediocre life with my animals any day. Money surely cannot buy happiness, but it sure helps with the feed bills!

I hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks for all your kind words.

CC I'm not sure on the breed of Roo. Good natured first of all, I have Buff, EE and Red and Black hens. You know more than I do on what goes well with what. The girls will be a year this spring.
I had my coffee while making breakfast so I missed the clutch sorry. I do think of you often.
Have a great sunny Sunday :)

Hey all--quick update. Just candled the eggs. 3 went out and 5 are developing. We even saw movement in a few! I think I tossed 3 or 4 from my breedings too. Not fertile...now how in the world can that be! I certainly dont have any fat roosters around here!
Well my friend from Thorpe just called and she is having dinner down at Aztalan so I am going to go out there and see her. Havent seen her is many years...I bought my first horse with her! (and took over her 4H club!)
Later all--Terri O

OK Bigfam...time to get your eyes checked again! LOL--Terri O

Sunny Sunday All....Sorry for the loss of your Dad Susie....May he truly Rest in Peace.

Glad to hear you are gonna make the bash Amyable....I'm with you on the wood heat....warms a person all the way to the bones. I've been saving some of the hickory for the cold nights. I stoked with 3 big chunks last night at bedtime....7 hours later it still was a red hot bed of coals. It would be sweet to have a whole basement full of that stuff.

Nothing new here either. Unbelievable almost how warm it gets in the covered pen with the plastic around it. With the sun shine and no wind able to get in it's dang toasty in there.

Later....bigz

I am very happy to have survived my drive in to work this morning. In Waupaca County is was OK, the wind was blowing the snow off the roads and it was a little slick but everyone was going a reasonable speed.... get to Winnebago County and it all changes to sh!t! Wind starts blowing snow EVERYWHERE! I now know what whiteout conditions are....... I decided to play it safe and NOT take the 41 bridge, instead I took the Algoma Street overpass. Very scary to be driving your car upward into absolutely nothing at all, and not be able to see anything around or below you. I was hoping that once I got into town the buildings would cut the wind and I would be able to see more.... no such luck. It took me over an hour to get to work today, a drive that usually takes 40 min. I am not one that is usually afraid of the driving conditions; most of the time slow and steady will get you to your destination... this was a little scary.

Had to go out and get the ducks a new waterer, something went haywire in the one we have, electricity was going through it but the heating coil was no longer working so the poor babies water would freeze....

Raim, where do you get FG DE and Fleet???? The only stuff I have seen there is the DE mixed with the clay. The FG DE is pure white (as far as I know).

Playing 2 pools at work for the Powerball! I hope one of them pays off!

The Red Lake Earth Diatomaceous Earth is Food Grade. Just looked at it in Fleet Farm and it states it on the bag and am looking at the ad in Backyard Poultry right now. Here is their website for more info. www.absorbentproductsltd.com
