I think the idea is based on the fact that the sex of some reptiles are determined by the incubation temperature.

I am all for opinions.. I practice it prolly more than most.. all I am saying is when you know for a fact that something being presented is dead wrong, and people are still buying into it.. now it is not a matter of opinion.. it is somebody still pushing the notion of a falsehood.. it gets very frustrating to read some of the dribble presented.. I am not referring to the present topic of incubating temps.. just go to some of the other threads and read what is going on there.. especially in the incubation threads.. by the way.. the theory of temp has long ago been tested. and it was never determined that it was true.. it works for reptiles and alligators..

as an example.. people who say that a LG or Hova are not good incubators.. that is not the problem,, it is always operator error.. and I have proved it over and over, but there are still people who will not admit they did any wrong, and they simply refuse to follow a few simple steps to fix their problem.. they would rather spend their time bashing the bators..

and I do not candle eggs .. there is not much to gain by it.. I might candle after an egg does not hatch on time to make sure it is just not a day late..

Hey grumpy, here is the best way to keep from being irritated/frustrated/POed by other people's stupidity/hardheadedness/whatever on the incubation thread: don't go there. Problem solved.

crap, speaking of goats, I once again forgot to give them their dewormer. (is it dewormer or wormer?) lol tomorrow! I ask someone what she uses for her goats and she said she doesn't give them any dewormer? or even trim their hooves?? is this good for the goats?? she's had them for like 7 years and never had any problems?? IDK
DH is off tomorrow! he's gonna start working on the upstairs steps. reinforce them, mainly cause you can see into the basement through the cracks. not to mention they bow a good inch when ya go up them.

then we start cleaning out the upstairs. it's just a bunch of boxes still from when we moved in, that's all. lol
I can't wait to start working on this house, actually I can't wait to rip the stupid kitchen apart but THAT will be YEARS from now.
I had a call out of the blue today, a woman that I used to babysit for (since her DD10 was a new born) called me and asked if I can watch her 2 kids after school. Heck ya! IDK y she went to someone else in the first place?? guess the kids wanted me to be the one to watch them now lol they start TOMORROW!

Good evening all...meatloaf is in the oven...I made the kind with chunks of cheese in it. I am making the same thing for the Pines people tomorrow so I had to experiment a little to see how long it takes to cook etc. I think I put too much meat in the loaf pan though...it is smelling "burny" in here. I bet the pan is overflowing....god thing my oven isnt clean...LOL!

THe goat kid was still alive this morning. It seemed weaker though and the mama's udder was huge. I suspect if it is suckling it is now doing it much! Thinking about milking her out tonight to feed the baby. The "super hen" has her nest in the corner of the goat pen. I took a look at her eggs since she was off the nest. I pulled 4 that were sloshy. In several I could tell there was an embryo, just how it feels when gently shaken. I have tossed eggs when I can feel the embryo banging around in there...that is when they sometimes had a live baby in them...I left them alone. I hate when that happens! She has about 15 left.

I didnt get anything packed for my weekend today. My client was very sleepy so it took a long time to get him finished. He said he was feeling "woosie" in the shower like he might fall down. I got him out of there in a hurry! He is a very large man and there is no way I could get him up if he fell. So then I went to the grocery store...at least I got the stuff to eat for the weekend! So I should be packing now...yeah, I'm tired!

Hey that Blue Am did lay an egg in the box yesterday! It was not a really blue egg though; kinda light blue. It was a bit disappointing after waiting all winter for them to lay! Who ever it is that said theirs were 26 weeks and laying is very lucky! After I show these birds at our fair I think I will dismantle that flock (maybe see if I can hatch some splash birds) and give that nice pen to the buckeyes so they can go into the yard every day. The blues are very nice and friendly but they can be that in the regular laying flock!

Going to check my meatloaf now...I am not even hungry (meatloaf isnt my favorite anyhow--but DH loves it) Maybe I will just taste it and only have a sweet potato. I hope you all had a good dinner too! Terri O

Exciting Day here on the hill. Took my walk to the mail box after 5 like always, and was happy to see that I did indeed draw a black bear harvest permit

It only took 9 years of waiting this time around. I'll be hunting early Sept...this will be my 4th harvest if I'm lucky enough for success.

I collected 2 blue eggs also...one today and one a couple days ago. Mine didn't lay this winter at all. They were laying last fall though and took a break with the short daylight hours. The other hens are laying well and the Buckeye eggs are quite nice size and texture.

Thanks for posting the link to the article FT. I didn't recommend anything there....just something for topic of discussion...just sayin.

I remember some asian folks that would allow their small feeder pigs to get hungry and feed them a huge bowl of cooked rice....then butcher them and bake them whole...already stuffed....just a tidbit of useful info for the future use.

Oh boy ! I already put in an order for chicks from Meyer, 18 in all. Well I just now ordered 8 silkies from Ideal. lol I guess DD and I will be adding onto the coop, good thing we have plenty of spare wood laying around.
