Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi all!

DrH... Yep, it is a weird system, but I guess it was inspected and passed
hu.gif
The guy that inspected the house before we bought it said as long as we can keep it working it should be OK. Looks like we may have to pump more often than we were told we would have to, but still beats renting!

TO... Hope your mother is doing OK... is there someone to watch out for her at home?

DD12.... The only cat that really had to learn the chickens were off limits was the kitten. Once she got chased by them (and the roos) she no longer pays any attention. The older cats all know if it's cared for by one of us, it's off limits! What I did with any critters I didn't want the cats to go after, was hold them and pet them with the cats close by. The the cats know they are yours.

Yes, CC is mean... I see she's even posting critters that are right in MY neck of the woods too!

Apyl.... Good start on the deck!.... Now finish it along the whole side

LOL! Yea, I have one of those unhandy hubby's too! I keep an ear his way every time he uses tools! I scares me when he uses tools... and there always seems like a large waste factor when he uses tools...

I keep him anyway.

TO... Wish I could have spent a long time in the shower! I no sooner got the "back up" cleaned out and DH jumped in! Then DS said he stinks (he did) because he had to hold it too long (remember he has MS... little control sometimes) So, he jumped in. By that time the hot water was almost out (I did 2 loads of dishes too) and it was too late for me.

I did a quick shower today, but I decided I'm getting a good soak in Thur. night! I did get my hair washed!

Bl4... That horse is gorges! So stunning it dose look fake! Would love to see one in person! ( Bet the don't guild many of them!)

The girls spent most of the day doing dust baths and sun bathing! Chickens laying around all over the place... what a lazy bunch!
gig.gif
At one point the coop was almost empty! One hen sitting by herself on the nest and that was it!

Guess it's time to hit the hay...got to get up and help someone move a bed at noon!.... Night all!

Thank you
lol yeah thats how it is here. When he pulls out the tools I cringe lol, I cant help but think "Oh crap what do I have to fix now".

Well went out and fed and watered the chicks and they did awesome. They were all under the heat lamo but not crowded together so I'm assuming that meant they were comfortable. Boy were they happy to see me though. I filled them up before I went to bed and they ran out of water. Looks like I need another waterer.
Well time to get the kids off the school

Good Morning All! Kinda froggy this morning. FT you crack me up! You complain about buying eggs from people that aren't as advertised, next breath is setting eggs that you bought. Then you talk about baters anonymous and AGAIN talk of setting eggs.

Gonna wait till the fog clears to let the kids out. Lookin forward to when the lil ones are big enough to intergrate. Shouldn't long the way their eatin.

I had 2 chickens that laid eggs while on their roost yesterday...any suggestions? Majority are laying in the nesting boxes. I plan on keeping them locked up for the next couple of days to see what happens.

It is amazing, I don't think I baby my chickens as bad as some of you on here....but I do like to see them running about the yard, and will kinda feel bad about it today knowing they are locked up! I'm sure that feeling will go away when the Badgers start playing today and we are enjoying some adult beverages and steak sandwiches though!

Bigfam4 will they be chicks? How close to Green bay are you? I might be interested if they would be close enough in age to my chicks

Well I've left the chicks upstairs and the cat hasn't gotten them, she has seen us play with them. Hopefully they are pretty safe. I had to run errands yesterday and my husband was out working in the garage, got home and my 5 and 7 year old were talking about how they let the chicks run loose 'but don't worry mom we picked up the poop' :/

Good Morning everyone... well funny as it is, after filling up the incubator this past weekend... one of my silkies has gone broody. Now they are in a smaller temp pen in our basement that is a plastic dog kennel wtih a fence it give more space. Not huge, but ok for 4 silkies. But she did not lay in the kennel, but right out in the open. And when I try to see how many eggs she is sitting on, she snaps at me so thinking there is 2 or 3. She is sprawled over them and not moving so Keep checking to make sure she is not sick or something because she just doesnt move.

My trick will come this weekend because we were planning to move everyone outside when we finish the new run but think I will try to clean just the dog kennel out and see if she will let me move her and the eggs into just that in the garage or someplace. Silly bird. Not even sure they are viable. Silver surfer, our gorgeous splash silkie is just starting to crow at 7 months or so. He is a handsome guy. Still not a huge comb, but it is getting bigger.
So I guess her eggs will be ready 2 days after the incubator. April fools hatch here we come!

Otherwise started getting some weeds out of the garden yesterday and getting ready for this coop building this weekend. Cant wait. Lets hope it happens.

Hey FT I think the soup was that creamy zucchini one wasnt it? OR was that one yours? I wanted to make it t but I was already out of zucchini--I hope I can find the recipe for next summer though. I agree with you on people that misrepresent stuff they are selling. And charging you big $$$ too! Did that person ever send you what you wanted or refund you? I guess that's where the bad feedback button and comment section is used hey--I hope you did it!
Cind--isnt it always like that? The Mom lets her brood go first gets the leftovers! In your case COLD WATER! BRRRRRRR.

I am off for blood work this morning...just routine crap that the insurance needs. I am going to have her run the Celiac test again to see how I have been doing with the gluten thing. I want the numbers! I have to remember to ask her. I'm glad I could at least have coffee this morning! THat is pretty much all I ever have at breakfast...but wouldnt you know today I am hungry and really could go for a few eggs! I guess I ooughta go and check the bator this morning...it is weird having it upstairs (in my son's room) I never look at it and make sure of temps etc...probably a good thing!
Oh yea, Tommy crowed 3 times this morning after he saw me. I was beginning to think that he couldnt! I have a wife picked out for him...if I find a place to keep them together outside I will let him stay out for the summer. Although he just likes to hang around with me and "help" I think he might like to be a real chicken for a while. Right now he is staring into the chick TV watching the little ones eat. It is very funny to see.

OK--dogs need to go OUT! Have a fantastic day...do you think spring has sprung for real? Cant I put away the shovels and the salt? All my crocus are in bloom! Terri O

Thank you for saying that! I completely agree. How in the world did people ever manage to keep chickens and dogs before we had poultry fencing and so on? Just like you teach your kids to behave, you teach your animals to behave. If you would not tolerate 'bad' behavior from your child, you should not tolerate it from an animal that has the potential to kill you.

Just my 2 cents.

as I bite my tongue...... Let me straighten MY situation out. my dog DOESN'T attack ANYTHING when she is running the yard, she pays no mind to ANY of the birds. (yes we are outside with her/ no we never have to tell her to leave the birds alone) BUT when she's IN her fenced in area then anything that comes in the fence is fair game.
THAT is where our question lies, How do we stop her from thinking that anything IN the fence is fair game? NO she doesn't run amuk all the time, she/they has/have a fenced in area. I want to be able to let them out for the day to play and not have a dead DOG. People go passed my house at 60mph+
roll.png
not to mention that it's the ONLY place to pass for 2 miles maybe even 3. my neighbor uses your system, she has 2 big dogs they are in ALL day while everyone is gone. they come home to 2 dogs that have so much energy that THEY (the dogs) take her for a walk. if they had a fenced in area then SHE (the woman) could take the dogs for a walk. my dogs are calm, they come in and nap, ask for more food, bark to go back out, bark to be let back in and repeat till bed time when they look at you and ask if it's bed time yet.

where some people make a mistake when training a dog is they think a dog has "rights"..
a dog has no rights.. a dog is 100% at the will of it's owner.. If the owner allows something, or disallows something,, the dog had better comply..

I was telling my brother about what some people had mentioned their dogs had maimed or/and killed.. he said, "and that dog is still alive ?"

zero tolerance..

you cannot allow a puppy to growl over food.. it is "cute" at the time.. but when he growls at a toddler, cute is all done..

a dog should never be let in when it barks.. soon you will be a door slave.. make the dog wait at least 15 minutes after it quits barking, then let it in.. It does work.. they do learn.. my dog barks and then lays down and shuts up until I decide to let him in..

just saying..
