Afternoon All!
*sigh* What to blab about....Ummm.....Oh I had another quail hatch last night. Right after I hit the lights at 11:30 to go to bed I kept hearing a very insistent peep in the brooder. Got up and stuck the little tyke in the brooder with the rest. He looks like everyone else this morning.
I'll toss the egg tomorrow.
The Girls are fine but rather complainly. I have no idea why. After I spent the morning tripping over the Gold Stars, I figured out that complainy and whiney = begging for scratch treats...Silly things.
DH helped me seperate some of the young rabbits yesterday. So all the boy are in one cage and all the girls in another. 2 girls and 4 boys on Maggie's crew...
Processing day is around the corner. I keep saying that but after we sexed them I weighed them and some of then need to but on a littler more weight.
The meat chickens are almost ready to process. I'm thinking end of next week. I think the next go around with for meat birds, I'm getting those freedom rangers/red rangers. I'm tired of cleaning out the nasty meatie habitat every day....This group has been a lot less mobile then Cornie every was. But Corney had friends that made him move. These are just slugs....

MSS-There are a few poultry processors in WI. The one I know of is Twin City Pack down in Clifton. There are a few ways to go to find one closer to you give your local 4-H or FFA group a call. They should now of who processing your area or they should know who you can call. If they don't, you can try a call into your county fair's office. They should have that info as well since they provide that for the auction buyers at the fair auctions. Your counties extention office might have that info to. HTH and good luck!
Dan22-Barred Rocks and Wyandottes are terrific chickens! I say go for what you want! Besides you are not the only guy on here who gushes about chickens...I wont name names....DrH...but there are more here then you might think. My DH is one of them although he does not grace these pages and thread though.....He's been gushie over chickens for more then 40 years....

. Do most of you get attached to the birds that you raise and never butcher them and just kind of let them die off? I guess easer to say it than do it .
