Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hi all!

Angi... those are cuties! and I like the names! Can't help you with the lawn stuff either... never used that sort of thing.

Bf4m.... maybe you should take those "lazy" hens on a field trip. Pack 'em up and take 'em to where the others are and make them walk back to the coop. I have to do that now and then with a couple of mine.

Ken...The chicks I got a couple of weeks ago look as bad or worse than that! All chicks go through "that awkward age" some just seem to get more awkward than others. Might just turn into the prettiest bird you got!

Hummm.... was going to say more ....but..... d@mn CRS!

Good morning, I woke up at 4:3o AM..
CC, your dust bowl sounds more like a toxic waste dump..

I hatch so many eggs because I set so many eggs.. sometimes my %-tage is not the best..

it mostly boils down to fertility.. other than that, all one can do is set them and wait..

speaking of which, I have to check my records for the next due date..

I am heading to Birnamwood to look at a Barock roo. maybe bring home a few extra roos, too..
Free is a good price, eh?

later..

Good Wet Morning! Got done reading and as usual it's mostly gone. Good job on the calling Bigz! You are Da Man! Went out and placed my decoy stakes yesterday, then of course I moved them. Looks like a good day to dig out my official smack em in the puss uniform.

Think the ground is gonna warm up this week, wondering if we've seen the last of the frost. That would be nice! Gonna give it at least a week to see if I can get some plants and the rest of the seeds in. Very cool/cute pics from so many! Sorry mazo for the losses that just sucks! Cind their talking rain for up nort the whole weekend so we would be home if the forecast sticks. Will make a decision on Wed. If it turns out that we'll be home will you be coming for the stove? Have about 3 more trailer loads of wood to bring in might get them in today if the rain holds off. Think I'm gonna need around 5 more face cord to fill the shed.

Then on to next years wood.

Good morning everyone. Nice and wet this morning. Yestarday I caught some chickens eating my Lily's is there anything to deter them from that? So now I'm assuming if I want my garden to grow I need to fence it ? Great another project lol. I finally built railings for my porch now just a coat of paint and I'll be done. I'm surprised it turned out, with no experience and using all recycled material including the screws. I think it will be ready to be broken in this weekend. Hopefully the weather cooperates so we can have a fire and drink a few. Shifu the little duck is so attached to us, way more than any of the other ducks. If we are in the room she cheeps until we take her out of the brooder. Then she'll just cuddle up with me and sleep. Last night she was checking out pics of chicks and ducks on BYC lol .

Morning all!
Not much going on here! Just thought I'd stop in catch up and such before I head out to the critters.

These last few days until May 1st have been dragging by! Come on May 1st! Get here already! I have two books due to hit on May 1st....Rick Riordan's Serpent's Shadow (Kane Chronicles #3)
and Charlaine Harris' DeadLocked (Southern Vampire #12) Argh!! The wait is horrible......With that being said...I may be here on and off the next few days..hehehe....

BL4-Those were nice prom photos! All the kids looked great! It was very nice of your DS to help out his sister GF and go to the prom with her. I felt so bad those your DD's BF had to come home to a laboring cow! Only on Prom night right?

Well, I'd best stop there since I can't remember who else said what....I was only reading and "listening" with half and ear any way!
Later gators....

MLH... Love both those authors... Great books.. Have them on reserve at library! What other authors are you into? As for me... Rainy wet morning. We were hoping to go visit some friends at the park but might have to move it inside. We are working on two wheeled bikes here rather than four wheels. Very exciting stuff

No painting the new coop today! Have to start up the heater in the sunshed so I can give my pasty butt another epsom salts wash. Getting better, just not quite there yet. Otherwise she is happy and active with bright eyes and feathers growing back so I'm not ready to give up on her. Rest of my girls are doing fine but I think they are getting a bit spoiled. When I go to open the coop door now they are all standing right there looking to see what I have for them. The one I call crockpot I think has bonded to me! she is right on top of my feet whenever she can and tries to follow me out the coop door

(BTW~yes, I do have a bit of a sense of humor-I did name my hens Crockpot, Stirfry, Fricassee and Soup. My granddaughters love it! Yes, they got my sense of humor much to the chagrin of their mother

my daughter hehehe)

Have a great week everyone!

BTW~ I have done 1 epsom salts bath and in the water so far and 3 days of Oxine in the water to cure crockpot's vent gleet. anyone have any other ideas?????

Oh were to start! I have many....I started out a reader hater, then my DB handed me LOR....which I loathed and refused to read, so he handed me Sword of Shanara by Terry Brooks....the rest was history. I bought books instead if music tapes..... I read mostly Fantasy and little SF all through high school. Then all my favorite authors kinda petered out or took sabbaticles (?) in that genera so I moved over to Romance. That was an interesting genera to read since it is very very fad driven. Historical romances were the thing in my day then eventually paranormal. I eventually got into YA and Youth books when the Romance genera was filled to over flowing with the same old tired re written paranormal drivel. Don't get me wrong, I still have favorites in that category but it's still the same old same old so I'm pickier then I used to be.
One day I was desperate and ended up in the youth section of the book store, feeling all skeevy for being there, trying to find anything to read while I was in a dry spell author wise. This little boy comes running down the isle I was in and was shouting that "his" book was in! I was like "Hunh?" He then chattered that "this is the book" he wanted to spend his allowance on. So I figured, young boy spending money on a book? Right on! I asked him what book was sooooo cool. He proudly showed me Brandon Mulls Fable Haven series. Well the second book on the series anyway! So with his 30 minute stellar endorsement in mind and the book sounding interesting, I grabbed up the first book in the series and got hooked....hook line and sinker hooked! Thus started my journey into YA and Youth book. The authors are fresh and new and the plots are easy to follow and enjoy. Sometimes adult authors like Laurell K Hamilton whom I used to love btw, get all lost in their plots and it gets laborious to remember who did and said what. plus sadly there seems to be a number of them that start off with these huge series planned and then come to hate writing said series half way through them, so they get all convoluted and hateful toward their characters and take that out on them and hence the readers.
Anyway, like I said, I have many authors I like. My newest beloved favorite is Julie Kagawa and her Iron Fey series and her brand spanking new Blood of Eden series. I just finished the first book of that series and am in loooooove! Plus she has chickens!
I also like Amanda Hocking (Tyrelle and My Blood Approves series) Rachael Hawkins, Hex Hall series, Suzanne Collins and her Hunger Games series, JR Ward, Gena Showalter, Sherilyn Kenyon (although she is getting rather redundant), Jeannine Frost, Carrie Vaughn, C.C. Hunter. Those are just a few! All the new ones anyway.
I also have "vintage" authors that I love like Anne McCaffrey and Raymond Feist just to name a few! LOL!
I'd best wrap this up before all the peeps here tell me to shush and start to toss eggs at me! I'll have to get my list together and email it to you.....
Sorry to ramble everyone!!!

Brrr! It is cold out today!

I went around checking on the side gardens today. I've got some more peas coming up! I think I'll plant some more this week as well. I just don't know how many peas to expect to get off of one plant. Any suggestions?

That tatsoi looks good, the radishes look good, the dill and thyme are coming up, but that's it. I'll need to replant some of the herbs.
