EL-Awwwww....that is a pullet egg...very cute! They usually law a few of those right out of the gate so to speak....The eggs will start to get bigger as the hen lays more.
Really? You think so? I know it sounds like such a silly question, but I just can't tell! How would I know for sure? I have 6 due to start laying. We occassionally, as in very rarely got a smallish egg before this. We got our first really small one like this about a month ago but it was way too early for our new ones to start laying! They are only 15 weeks right now, so a month ago they would have been 11 weeks? Anyway, we had been getting about 5 eggs per day consistently from our 8 adults and 6 teens (not yet laying). Then, we got another adult and it stressed them all out and we were down to 2-4 eggs a day for the past month. Still ever so rarely getting one teeny egg like that. Now today we got 7 eggs. That's the most in one day we've gotten since a mink killed 7 of our chickens a month or so ago. I suppose time will tell huh? I've never had newly laying chickens and I honestly thought the smalls would be even smaller than this!
