Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Well, my dog's sick again. A month or so ago he could barely lift his head and we had to hand feed him and give him water with a syringe. I honestly thought we were going to lose him :/. The vet we took him to tested for a bunch of stuff and found nothing, and sent us home with some steroids and after a couple days he was on his feet again. Well, now, after I thought that was all behind us, the same thing happened again...

On another note, are silkies supposed to get something that looks almost like angel wing at around three weeks? His wing feathers are all bent and growing funny, like straight up. Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a mole hole :p

Was he tested for Lyme disease? It comes and goes like your describing. I hope he feels better soon.

And speaking of dogs, I think our may have arthritis, but I'm not sure. About once a month or so he starts limping and his elbow on his rear leg swells. He will limp four about a week or so then go back to normal. Its weird. But by time there is an apt available with the vet he's back to normal.

CC, no miracles to be had here I am afraid. Whatever cancer it is that he has, it has affected his liver and pancreas. We are going to be giving him low doses of prednisone along with the insulin and at the moment he is getting an appetite stimulant. Right now it is just tough to look at him; the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak kind of thing.

Headed out today to bum around the Valley. Have to get dog food and some things for TO's special cake.

Later all!

Good Morning All! Bl4 that's such sad news about squirrel! GR65 that is really weird about the mites think MLH is right. TO quite the deal on that horse! FT think we're all guilty of not taking the time to appreciate what we have and get caught up in all the meaningless crap. Glad you can after all you've been through!

Twiz hope you can get the dog figured out. It sucks when you don't know what's goin on. You feel so helpless. mx sorry for your loss!

Cind cool beans on the new lil mew faces! I hate kittens their so dang cute! Mazo was hopin you'd make the bash wanted to talk to you about about a few things. Maybe I'll pm ya someday. Tiki your killin me I've wanted to meet you for so long! Maybe someday we'll take a ride and darken your door. So many others not makin the scene. Is Susie"J" and DH comin this year? So much more but as usual it's gone. Thinkin were coming for most of the day on Sat. want to stop and see my mom on the way back and be home by dark. Things sure are a lot quieter and mellow without the extra roo's Sadly Freckles is being a poop head. I warned him yesterday. I'll give him a little longer to mellow out. Takin the Fiord out back today to push brush piles and cut some roads into the outback in search of dead trees for butt warmin material. It's so dang thick back there that I don't know what's there.

Otherwise I'm gonna be cuttin off all the stumps that I left over the years.

I'm pretty sure you can get non-organic from CFS much cheaper if you're not doing the organic thing

I don't get my feed there, but I do buy my organic potting mix and in the past composted/pelleted chicken manure, like I said good folks to deal with and they sell LOTS of chicken feed in that area

I called to check, cause I thought they only did organics. But they do have 1 non organic called eggpro. It's $11.15 for a 50# bag. Since I had them on the phone, I asked for their other prices too. Their organic feed are - grower - $18.65, layer - $17.44, soy free feeds - grower - $18.08, layer - $15.68.

I need to go back out there cause I picked up a couple packs of organic corn seed for the garden and it didn't go nearly as far as I thought it would. I need more!

2 days ago I was able to rehome one of my cockerels to some friends of mine, and when I had my back turned my GF apparently struck a deal to take one of their cockerels...never ending but maybe it will get her interested in chickens. So my friends stopped over and dropped of a beautiful Pheonix cockerel, and it is the first crowing I have heard since my other rooster was hit by a milk truck this spring. Kinda refreshing to hear that again! Now it will be a competition between the Pheonix and the goats to see who is the loudest!

Good morning! NJ--I LOVE my Phoenix roos! THey roost on the wall in the barn and their tails hang down so low...so pretty! THey are also great protectors and mine seem to draw the ladies in and then keep them in the barn away from the rest. THat is why I have a bunch of chickens that free-range my front yard...and eat my flowers! It was supposed to be a no chicken zone. Lately I have been wondering if mine really is Phoenix like the guy told me...all the babies from them have the "lobster tail" that is the hallmark of another kind whose name escapes me.

BL4--so sad to hear about your cat! I thought for sure it was simple diabetes and he would be fine with injections once stabilized.

It is hard to watch them go downhill--he will tell you when it's "time."

I am honored that you are going shopping "just for me!"

And now there's baby kitties! I agree with you DrH--they are just too adorable for their own good! That is why we stopped fostering them for the shelter...we kept one out of every litter! Speaking of...Cind--you are marching her off to the vet ASAP right? While they are adorable...there are WAY too many that dont have homes! (and I really cant take any more in here!!! LOL!)

So it seems beautiful and breezy here so far...DD26 tells me that storms (may be heavy) are predicted for later today...HMMM--guess I shoulda thought what I was going to do with an extra horse in case of storms! I think I might be cleaning out some of the barn today to find a place for my daughter's show horse (that is the bully) so I can move him in with the rest so at least he will have a roof over his head if he wants. They tend to stand out in the rain anyhow...just makes me a little nervous if they are out in lightening and such.

Got up early again...not at "stupid O'clock" like BigFam says...but early enough; I guess I better get out and get stuff fed...I would hate for Carol to show up and I not be ready to ride!
Everyone have a fantastic day! (ya hear?) Terri O

(PS) I wont complain too much if we have some storms this week as long as we have beautiful clear weather for the bash weekend!!! Gosh, I am excited to see you all again!

Hi All, Be you tea full day today..

had a gal stop over yesterday with eggs to hatch and some turkey poults to put into a tv.. her turkey hen was hatching the eggs and then killing the poults.. two of the poults have died already. she didn't know exactly when the eggs were due to hatch.. so I have 10 more eggs in the hatcher..

then the guuinea lady (Marlene) called.. has eggs to hatch, but she already cleaned up her bater for the season.. will be bringing 2 dozen eggs to hatch..

I have guineas hatching like popcorn from the 49 eggs I had set.. and today is due date for Brian's chicken eggs..

I have two tv's packed solid with babies to go out to the brooder.. then I can start transferring the guinea keets from the hatcher to the tv's..

I transferred all of the plants I bought into the brooder/planter that I just built.. I will harden them off in there.. another good use for that multi-purpose box.. I didn't really want to get my plants this early, but I wanted to get in on the good selection instead of getting all the left overs.. there are blossoms on some of the tomatoes..

Oh OH, I see a chick hanging from a newly hatched shell.. Brian's eggs are hatching..

I better get off of here and take care of all these birds..

Hey Jim,

I forgot, how much do you get for your guineas? I have someone who wants me to hatch her TWO yes I said to guineas and TWO chicks, plus she wants about 15 guineas for a friend. I don't know how much to charge her.

Want to see pictures of your multi purpose box.

Man I'm feeling crappy. We went to my cousins for Mothers Day. Eggcellent food and I'm not a big eater in the morning (brunch) but I gorged myself. They also had Lambrusco (sp) and a drink called Love martini from the Melting Pot Resturant recipe. Boy was that good !!!
http://www.food.com/recipe/love-martini-melting-pot-356089?scaleto=1&mode=null&st=true

Then there was an artichoke, spinach, cheese fondue from the Melting pot as well. Eggcellent.

French and Italian bread French toast with Almonds and Pecans. Fresh strawberries, pineapple, banana's, raspberries !!!
I told my cousins wife I thought she didn't know how to cook. She said she didn't, got all the recipes from the internet !!!! WOW. Maybe there is hope for some of us none cookers yet !!

So anyway, I think I over did it with the Love Martini's. I'm not a big drinker but I have noticed no matter how much or little I drink that the next day I am really down in the dumps, tired and feel like crap. Maybe the combo of my meds and the booze???? An no it's not a regular hang over. I remember those from years past !!! LOL

So sorry to hear of all the losses and that your kitty isn't doing well. Love on him like you're doing. I'm sure it makes him feel better.

I hate it when my animals get old. Hard to realize that they are living creatures and their lives come to an end too. Just way to soon in my opinion.

Well this certainly may turn into a Lavender Paradise sooner then later. I'm getting some pure lavender Ameraucana eggs next week in the mail. And the other surprise that I was talking about last week is still going to be a surprise !!! I'm not even telling WCC since she can't keep a secret !!1
Nice horse by the way TO, enjoy your ride with WCC today. Wish I lived closer so I would have horsey friends to hang out with.
I must have missed some posts, I don't remember reading about Cindlady's new kitties ??

Dr Ha, you mean you aren't going to be sitting by the campfire Saturday night !!!!

I sure am going to miss your BS I mean conversations !!! Sure you can't stay ???? I love ya man !!!

Still not sure when we're coming. The guy I live with doesn't talk or share his thoughts with me (that's what all of you are for right)
So depends on when he gets out of work, then we have to tend to critters. Don't know if I'll get down in time to hit the feed store.
How far is the feed store from the bash bigz?
To bad we can't put in a big order for mash and have the owner deliver to the bash. He make a good sale and have tons to eat and drink !!

Oh Bigz, got a question for ya. Do you happen to have an amish friend or neighbor that fixes horse harness's?

I have a pony harness that needs a minor repair. I'd drop it off if there was one in the neighborhood and then pick it up next time I get feed.

Ok, got tons to do today. Plus Butt dog is going to need a haircut before the bash so she looks presentable. Suppose I should get one too !!! Gosh I wish I wasn't such a procrastinator !!! But then I wouldn't be on this face of the earth !!!!

Later
