Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Thank you for all the book ideas I wrote everyone of them down :)

FT- lol I read at night while DH watches his hunting channels or the kids have the TV and when my back cant handle my bed any longer.

KristiP - Hmm ok here are some books I really liked, House of Night series, Night World series, Percy Jackson, 39 clues, Need/Captivate/Entice series, Gone series, Heku series on Kindle, Twilight, HP, Aradia the last witch series (well the first 2, they started getting old and repeatative after that), The Awakened series, The Thirteenth Unicorn, Eragon trilogy, oh and there is so many more.

Raimnel - Those signs are cool I may try to make some. I pinned it so I can check it out better later.

EL - I was out in the garden earlier and my sweet onions are starting to come up :)

dynodan - sorry you lost a chick, sadly it happens. I lost 5 within the first week, I have my replacements coming in a couple weeks.

MX - thanks for the warning lol I hate reading a book and getting surprised to find out there are more books lol Right now I'm waiting on 3 books to hurry up and get published lol

Well what a day. DD had field day today so I took the other kids up to the school and we watched. Poor kid, she was so set on getting a 1st,2nd, or 3rd place ribbon. She actually got 2nd place on the 3 legged race during the first race, then during the final race her and her partner got 3rd place but another team crossed at the same time and the other team ended up with the 3rd place ribbon. She did end up with a participation ribbon though. I felt bad so made her some triple chocolate brownies fro scratch for when she got home from school.

On the chicken front, all seems to be going well. Everyone is open ranging well and no losses yet. Not bad considering they've been open ranging for at least 8 weeks now. My Pekin is molting and still only 2 mallards are flying, but the rest are soon to follow. Shifu is growing daily I cant wait to see what she'll look like when she feathers out.

Here's a pic of Shifu - she's 3 weeks old today

Well guess thats about it. I need to get outside and pick up the yard a bit, its looking horrible with all the toys everywhere.

Just reading along.....

Horse, chicks, and kitty pictures are awesome...thanks all!

Sorry to hear about the lost pets. It's always hard to lose a critter!

The shindig this weekend sounds like it'll be a blast! I had hoped to come this year, but then heard that my court date (with my ex) was moved to this Friday (in Indianapolis, IN), so I planned to not attend the bash. Now I find out he might move it again!

I put golf balls into the nest box (in 2 separate spots) and they miraculously moved into one spot...I wonder how that happened. LOL. I guess someone is more ready than I had previously thought......

DH is starting to talk about minimizing the flock by a few RIR roos. The run/coop is beginning to get too crowded as it isn't meant for 9 teenagers only about 5-6 adults. We have awhile yet as they haven't started pecking at each other or anything! I was hoping to keep all of the birds until they decided to crow, but I think after Blinky (dead roo #1) was removed after crowing, the rest held their tongues!

I've been craving Shrimp Scampi for weeks and DH made it tonight!!! YUM......

I'll check in later maybe before bed...

Evening All.... again good advice on the mites MLH...hope you get the problem solved ghost!

Did you get my PM frenchie? Seemed strange when I hit submit.

I'm being lazy by trying to get by with limited fences for the gardens...my second garden is now missing 10 purple sweet pepper plants, I better go save the other doz, I guess, if I have to, I will....again eaten by the rabbits...guess I'm gonna have to fence that one in too. It's extra work to unroll 300 feet of fence, plus all the stakes for this garden. it's the only way to save the harvest I guess...been doing the fence for over 10 years and figured I would try without for a change...looks like the the only one with extra change is gonna be the greenhouse LOL!

Nice pics ...thanks for sharing them.

Come on down from Post Lake to the bash...that's only a short ride down 45...we go there fishing for the day and still make it back to clean fish...you're gonna be missing all the fun!

Hi All, all this talk about mites etc is making me itch all over the place..

I only did what I had to do today.. just chores and nothing else.. Tomorrow will be moving day for most of these new babies..

when I walked up to the dog's pen today, the biggest pup growled and barked at me.. at that point I was glad that he was not full grown.. He looked like he meant business..

Brent, rabbits do not need a very high fence.. one year I "fenced my garden with hay bales stacked end to end.. Deer are my biggest problem .. Annie threatened to sit near the garden with my rifle on more than one occasion.. deer like beet greens.. It wouldn't be so bad if they just ate the leafy part.. but they chew it down right to ground level and into the beet itself..

bbl .........jiminwisc............

ha,,,deer like most new growth,,last year I planted a dbl row of peppers 150 plants, the next morning all had been "topped" checked the electric fence and DUHHHH I had left one gate open

I now have the electric and invisible fence (11/2" mesh) 80" IF all gates are closed pretty much secure,,,,,,,,and,,,,,,Jake the protector doesn't just chase the chickens,,,,funny how a little dog gets a wide birth from these deer with just one bark he takes great pride sitting on the deck on his lead and rousting them at 100yds

I found green bean sprouts this evening! Several of them! Yest I found a volunteer something and i wasn't sure what...but it was very healthy looking! Squash? zucchini? I decided this evening that it has to be cucumber. It's in the right place of where they were last year.

Apyl-awesome! I've got some of the little green tops sticking up on the white onions too! Less so on the red ones. What else did you plant?

long day and longer afternoon. Worked on the garden tonight with my good friend who is helping us this year. He is a first timer and a perfectionist at that. He tries to be all perfect and I just grab my beer and let him go off for a little, although he does make everything look pretty nice. Right now the lettuce, peas, broccoli, kale, arugula, radiccio, onions, radishes, and potatoes are up and thriving. Should be eating lettuce and radishes by the weekend. Melons, cantalope, and pumpkins just broke ground today.

Got some Qual eggs from TO today and they are resting on the counter getting ready to go into the incubator tomorrow night. Goats are doing well, I was told today they are an Alpine cross. Who knows or cares they are cute and it may be hard this fall.

Wow it is starting to feel like BF4M's house around here, just keep adding animals and tiling up more garden! At this rate who needs a 40hr a week job too, I can barely make it in by dark right now, not sure what is going to happen when all of the tomato and pepper plants get here!

Thanks again to TO for meeting my friend and setting me up with some Qual eggs!

Here is my last poor me and happiness at the same time, I have to do this, the house work, and get DD fed bathed and to the sitter for next two days because GF started her intership at a birth center in Black River Fall today. They have student housing for her at the birth center which is wonderful because BRF is 2.5 hours away!

I have a child who's acting like he's going to puke. If one gets it, were screwed. It typically spreads through the house over a week long period. Guess who's not coming to the bash with the possibility of pukers..?!?! Oh I hope he doesn't throw up!

Internal pips on the eggs..... hoping to have some hatch out by Friday.

Weather is looking like it will hold for Saturday!!!

MxM, I doubt it there is anything in those books that will shock me.... and just plain silly to ban the books, it just makes people want to read them more! Of course, I only have a vague idea of the storyline too....
