Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I am now the semi-proud owner of a GQF Sportsman. It is brown painted plywood with a plexi front. It has the electronic thermostat in it with a wafer backup. The backup needs to be replaced and needs a new screw. It has one egg tray in it as well as an ostrich tray, but has room for three trays.

Questions to start with:
  1. How do I set up the humidity in it?
  2. Does it regulate temp well from top to bottom?
  3. Is there an easy way to set it up for auto turning?
  4. What do I need to watch out for?
  5. If I choose to sell once it is set up and running right what can I ask for it?
  6. Is there an easy way to find the model # and instructions? (Nothing really on the case except for the electronic thermostat)

If you would like to talk to me on the phone about this grand adventure please let me know via PM and I will send you my number.

On a different note, I am down in the Twin Cities visiting my new nephew! Cameron David was born Saturday via emergency C-Section. Mom and Cam are doing well. 8 lbs 13 Oz 21 1/2 inches. Labor was intense for 36+ Hours but nothing was happening down under, so the Docs decided to take the baby. I am an excited Uncle! First Nephew from my side of the family, I already have great nieces and nephews on my wife's side.

Went from 40 degrees at Church this Morning to 94 degrees in the cities. Went for a walk and sweated by boys off. Dad only has high-test Leine's here so I am in for a long night of originals.

Later,
KEN

Is there a store I can get a wafer at without ordering one? I can find a screw.

Jim I would love to hear how to make new trays for this for cheap!

Thanks again,
KEN

MLH, nice planting!

one of the BSL hen's if off her feed the last couple days,,,outside but hanging out alone,,,anyone use Ivmec? I haven't wormed these birds and they do have an on again off again lice problem,,,,and I have a problem with Sevin (COPD already don't like using it)

happy memorial day,, the grandfather of all oximorans.

I just did something that I can hardly ever do.. I drank two cans of soda, back to back.. I worked in the garden for awhile.. I got all the rest of the potted plants in.. watered them too.. after all that rain last night, the ones in the pots were bone dry..

it was still too wet to do any seed planting,

the old saying, if you can smell yourself, everybody else could smell you long ago.. I think I need a shower.. gag gag.. I'll bet you could have gone a lifetime without that knowledge, eh?

Dan, our phones are out of order.. BIL says the ringer line is under voltage,, or something like that.. He is a lifer with the phone company.. He retired and then went back to work for them as a contractor.. anyhow, we can call out, but nobody can call in..

I took Marlene 18 assorted chicks this morning.. she showed me a picture of somebody's guinea nest.. it had 274 eggs in it.. a bunch of people showed up to look at chickens, so I left.

the peachick hatched.. It looks like a male.. too soon to really tell, though..

Anne brought a puppy in to "peopleize" it.. He sure enjoyed being cuddled , and exploring all around in the house..

FT. Marlene lives on 81st street.. I think you said you were on 91st street ?

I don't know of anyplace to buy wafers around here.. the screw is a #10 fine thread, I believe..
Your best bet is to get it where you buy the wafer, just to make sure it fits..

I never said that it was cheap to set up trays for the sportsman gqf.. I just said it is possible.
However I did build some wooden framed trays with wire bottoms for one of them.. I hardly ever use those trays anymore.. I have stacks of the plastic egg holders that I use mostly..

I use Eprinex. Actually, I did a few birds the other day that feel thin and dont want to go in the coop at night.

These goat bucklings are driving me nuts! My last goats were not this dumb and annoying. I'm thinking about selling the brown one. He's just an idiot. They cry all the time. And there is nothing wrong with them, they are mad because they are in a pen. They have started eating leaves so they have to be. One butts the bottle so much I'm covered in milk whenever I feed him. I tried putting it in a bucket, but they are way too brain dead to comprehend it. If someone gave me the money I have into them I would sell them in an instant, even if they were going for meat. Maybe I need to put up a Craigslist ad. I have too much going on to take on these little beasts. And my husband will not help me with anything.

Unkadan!!!! That's interesting about the nitrogen being released after a rain fall.

That's funny Jim

The moles/rats/mice ate all the peanut butter balls and juicy fruit worms I made for them last night. Time to stock up on some more supplies and make some of those traps while I am at it.
