Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Just came in from a silkie hunt. Had him out earlier to take pictures and I went inside to get a drink and came out and he had dissapeared, I'm assuming into the nearby brush. It's about an acre of very thick brush, not trees, but brush, and I figured I'd leave some food outside and come back later. Went looking for him twice, and to no avail. Even took his best friend(Who was stressing out and the only one not roosted) to see if he would come out if he heard him, but no luck :/ I'm not sure if I want to go out again, I'm all out of ideas! And I don't want to leave him out all night because I'm afraid I won't find the dearie with all the pests out here. Oh well :p

Oh no Twizz, I would not say you are a bad owner! Heck if anyone is it would be me! I feel I waited WAY too long to get our cat into the vet....... it was one of those things where I just kept forgetting to call. I was not going to put him through chemo either, all it does is make the animal miserable and keep them around for another month or two. I would rather they enjoy as much life as they can and just keep them as comfortable as possible.

Ok, here are the stars of the show.... and keeping with the glassware theme.....

Enjoy!

Too cute, Bl4! That pic is entirely too adorable! I'm so glad your hatch went well.

and to the Cheesehead thread, LSB! Hope you like it here.

Twiz, we don't think you are a bad pet owner. As long as you do what you can and love your animals, you're alright in my book. I hope you find your roo, too.

Cind, sorry to hear about Roadrunner. Cute pics of the kids on the roost!

DrH, you need to post some pics of PeaTwo's new suit.

Next time you need some eggs to incubate, let me know. Moose is a ladies man.

Where the heck is Bigz?

Glorious weather today! Got a lot of flowers planted & some weeding done. Like weeding is ever done.....
roll.png
Took some pics of Moose's kids & the lavs today. Hopefully I can find time to post them tomorrow. For now, gotta feed fur babies & get to bed a little earlier. Sweet dreams, all!

I'm cutting out of on-line fairy gaming land to check in.

Chickens, fairies... what's next? I'm adoring our feathery girls so much. The 3 original girls do stick close together. The 2 newer, older girls definitely rule the roost. I've been letting them all out of their ever-changing grassy enclosure to "free range" on the grass over there while I'm in the yard. (The grass is always greener and the creepy crawlies are always tastier on the other side of the hardware cloth)

Decided today was a good day to take pictures. Some of my chicks are coming out beautifully.
Here's my EE. I'm starting to think it's a roo. It used to be white, now it's got random dark feathers, and is starting to look lavender. He's tailless and has a beard. Funky looking little guy. Also in the pic are 'his' two silkie mix hens.

This is the silkie mix with the 'mohawk' I posted a week or so ago, if any of you remember. She's turning out stunning:)

And this is my frizzle, He's so cute:) I think I might start a frizzle breeding project, though the first problem is finding other chickens like him xD

And last but not least, these are my SLW pullets. I'm really excited for their first eggs:) Their colors are starting to come out. Starting to think that they will be my sister's show project :p

And all pics were taken within their pen, which is overrun with weeds. I plan on getting some more chicks(Just standard layers, hopefully EE) to keep the grass down. Now it's just a matter of finding someone who doesn't want $5 per chick, because I'm stingy xD. Hope you enjoyed my dearies, also, what do you think about the EE? Is it a roo?
OMG, I LOVE your pix Twizz! Thanks so much for sharing!

Sorry to hear about the hard time your pup has been having.

We're a big and motley group who forget to write half the things we mean to say

Welcome! I just got my first chickens about a month or so ago! Have you been in the chicken racket for a while or are you new to it too?

Good News Raim. Hearing other folks talk about plate removal was making me all sorts of sad for ya. Keep us posted!

Nuh Nights everyone!

Nice ducks Mel! So glad it worked out!

My hubby roto tilled the garden plot. Hooray! I found some elephant head garlic growing, some white garlic growing, a few lettuce plants, and a tomato plant! I love leftovers that just decide to pop up again! The tomato was a huge surprise, but I left the plant there all winter, as well as left some fruit on the plant.

Sleep calls

50 shades was pretty good! It is nice to see the female lead rescue the male lead. Some of the story never developed, so you are left wondering what the purpose of keeping it in the story at all was.... but otherwise pretty good! Once you get past all of the oh baby talk that is....
wink.png
As George T would say... 'Oh myyyyy!!!'

I have had to separate the bigger babies from the little babies..... those stinkers kept pushing their way under Taffy who was trying to keep her babies warm! Difficult to do when you have the three chunkettes come along....

I have previewed the Trash the Dress shoot photos..... some are pretty darn good!

Falling asleep here... I was so worried about the babies last night I hardly slept; and then I decided to jump-start my workout routine AGAIN by going for a 2 3/4 mile walk! My goal is to walk every day this week, then add running next week in intervals until the end of the month when I HAVE to be able to run 3k..... I do like to push myself!!!!

Ok off to bed. Night all!

I started the new electric brooder today.. got most of it finished,, just a little wiring to do yet.. I sure hope the old heating ring still works.. I had to do a lot more disassembly than I planned to do.. In fact I left no piece intact.. I didn't bother to scrounge for switches and recepticles so I spent more than I planned to also.. $38.oo in it so far.. but it will be the Cadilac of brooders when I get it finished.. the wiring is a nightmare..
I will have a switched receptical, an on/off switch for a separate light, and an on/off switch for the thermostat.. the box is 2 feet x 4 feet.. should handle more than 100 chicks easily..

I had the puppies loose until after 10PM. they were not at all unhappy about going back into their kennel.. but I expect they will be whining to get out in the morning like they were today..

I tried a new restaurant out for breakfast.. potato pancakes and sausage patties.. Not too shabby..

at about 4 PM we had a nice soaking rain.. Now my beans, corn and peas should be coming up soon.. tomorrow is supposed to be the same weather pattern..

I have been up since 4:3o AM.. got a lot accomplished today,, very tired, but satisfied.. I'll prolly sleep like a baby tonight.. ie. cry a little and wet the bed.

get out and vote tomorrow,, and vote often..

What a day. Spent more time on the phone today then I would have liked. DH managed to lose his wallet last Friday night. I met him at the laundry mat where he changed clothes before we went out for dinner. We get to the resturant, eat dinner and then my debit card failed 4 times. I knew we had plenty money in the account. Luckily he had cash to pay.
So I called the bank this morning to ask why my card wasn't working..... They said that DH wallet was found at the laundry mat and the person that found it called the bank and the bank cancelled my cards. So now that I knew the debit card was unusable it was time to figure out what they would have done with the wallet.
Well I found out at 3pm when my mail arrives that the finder of his wallet put it in the drop box at the post office.
We got it in the mail today with a note attached that it was dropped off Saturday Morning !!!

Now on the sad side of things my neighbor who happens to work for the Sheriffs department called me last night to ask me if I would like a dark chestnut/sorre Quarter horse (Only one testicle has been removed) He has been reported running loose near the Nicolet National Forest near some horse trail in the back woods. They say he's been running at large for at least 4-5 days. He was covered with gashes and scares all over his back as well as on his chest, shoulders, head and face. She wanted to know if I wanted him. He is a very handsome horse. He has 4 white socks and a small white blaze. Some of his wounds look older and there appeared to be some lighter colored hair grown in on old wounds. My neighbor couldn't get him loaded in the trailer so she called the vet for him to come and tranquilize him. The Vet brought his wife and she bribed him in with some oats.
Then they brought him over to my friends and put him in a stall. I went over today to see him. He is a very nice looking horse. 3-4 yrs old according to the vet. Only one problem. He is a stud but only has one testicle descended. So my neighbor is going to bring him down to the Amish and see what they think about gelding him. She said the vet would probably charge $500-600 to geld him. I brought DH down to look at him later and he really liked him too. He really felt sorry for the poor guy. The vet (which is also my vet) was really T'd off that someone would abandon their horse like that. Even he said if you don't want the horse Shoot it but don't dump it.
I don't know how far my neighbor is going to persue the previous owners but she said if they find out who it is they will be charging them with abandonment and also charge them for all costs involved so far with his rescue. My neighbor says it looks like this horse has been beat up by another stallion. (not sure if the vet said that or not but my neighbor has two stallions so she is familiar with things like that although her boys were raised together and still get along)
So I'm not sure if she is going to keep him or try to find him another home. So if you know anyone that would be interested in providing a forever home for this unfortuneate guy let me know.

Ok, my sleeping pill is starting to kick in so I best get going before I start typing silly stuff.

PM or Email me if you would like more details on the horse.
