CC... Hope Jack takes care of the kids good for you!
Thanks Cind! He resumed his surrogate daddy role and is fussing over the babies like crazy. Sweet, silly chicken.

OMG, those kittens are adorable!

Frenchie, those owners should be subjected to the same treatment that horse is getting now.

welcome-byc.gif
and to the Cheesehead thread, CasieD! Hope you like it here.

Ang, how is your hen? Do you have any rubber/latex gloves? Put one on, put a glob of vaseline/KY jelly on your finger & gently feel around inside her vent. You should be able to get your entire finger in there to feel around. If you don't feel an egg, she shouldn't be eggbound. How does her abdomen feel? Does it feel swollen? Does she have a fever? You could try giving her a few drops of Poly-vis-ol no iron formula or some vitamins & electrolytes in her water for a couple of days to see if that helps. If you don't see any improvement with the vitamins after 2 days, then I'd try the antibiotics. Good luck!

Unk, that's just nasty. That "mass" thing.

Ken, sorry about your copper pullet.
hugs.gif

Kristi, see if you can strategically place the table with your friend's expensive rummage stuff towards the back so people see your stuff before they see her prices?
hu.gif

I agree with ya, Bigz, on life being too short to hold a grudge.
hugs.gif

Twiz, how old is the Aussie? Kinda looks like a girl to me?

I'm jealous of all of you who got rain. Still haven't gotten a drop down here even though it looked like it wanted to this morning. Haven't had any internet the past 2 days, so I spent most of the evening catching up here. Now I'm getting the stink eye from the cats for their dinner. Just can't win.

A friend of DHs brought his 2 kids over yesterday for a visit. DH spent past of the day on Saturday fixing up an old go cart we had laying around for the son to tinker with. It was a huge hit. Even the "old guys" took it for a few spins. Too funny! The daughter was very quiet & shy and just wanted to read & do a little chatting. I finally convinced her to go for a ride with my DH on our ATV. Well, after a few rides, she was tearing up my yard like a gal possessed! LMFAO
lau.gif
She'd go tearing by us toward the back yard, them we'd hear a "whoo-hoo!" She was a riot. It was so nice to see them having such a good time. I have a sneaking suspicion we may be seeing more of those 2 in the future.

Time to feed the furballs & get some zzzzz's. Sweet dreams, all!

If you havent found a good resourse for help with the App cross...the Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation (www.equineadoption.com) may be able to point you in a good direction.

I shot them an email the other day and haven't yet gotten any responce................. I hate waiting !!!!!!!!

Morning FTfrow.gif

I think your approach with the "horse lady" is amazing! A real stroke of genius! Boy, if you can get pics of the horse posted! Just a thought. If this poor guy really is that old, I wonder when was the last time he had his teeth floated (if ever). That could be at least one explanation for his being thin for so long. That still doesn't let her off the hook for his overall condition. Poor old guy. If you can't take care of them, you give them to someone who can.

what teeth if he's over 25 he won't have any, a look in his mouth would be a tell tale sign of his age......so FT if ya get over there again take a good look, long teeth, yellowing, missing teeth can be a tell of age pretty well. Tpo me he looks over 18, but that could be because he's so under weight, and wormy too........ Plus I have never owned a draft cross, just our chunky pony whpo is 15 now this summer here she is

I wish my week wasn't already so screwed up I really want to get up there and see this poor boy............... but we have court in IA Wed, and Friday and can't stay down there no long term sitter for critters, so that's a 9 hour 1 way drive weds, and friday it's really gonna suck, then in a week we can do it again, because Adams X it being a be-itch yet again this year and wont let us have the kids after court, because she enrolled Ana in summer school to make us make another useless drive.......god help me if I don't get the money to get them kids outa there soon there is gonna be a beating..................... I am at the end of my rope with that useless excuse of a woman............10 years of crap has pushed me to my absolute limit of patience.......... so will yak hopefully tomorrow FT
take care all and wish us some good luck with court Adams kids need the help.............................. Kim

Good Evening all.

I didn't hear from the woman tonight about the saddle. I will call her in the morning and see if she has it. Then I'll take a ride to go look at it and check on the horse. I just didn't have the energy to go out in the heat today.
I know her husband asked her where the hay came from so he has been out by him.

Now my DH says the horse isn't coming here. I corrected him and reminded him that when I called him and told him about the horse and asked if I could bring him here if she would give him to me he said yes. He can be such an ***** at times, well most of the time, guess that's why I have all of these animals!! LOL

When DH came in from locking up the chickens he asked if I wanted to see what was in his shirt pocket. I am always hesitant to say yes because as a kid he brought baby snakes to school in his pocket.
He told me to hold out my hand. He knows better then to put any reptile or yuky things in my had so I held it out.
It was a baby chick !!! Then he went back out and came in with two more ! One is black, one is light gray with yellowish wings and one is lavender/blue. I think the lav/blue might be from my splash maran hen. Most likely they are all mutts though. Just wha I needed, more mutt chicks.
I candled my Lavender Ameraucana eggs (shipped) today and looks like only 2 of the 14 I got are still alive. For the life of me I can't find my calender where I marked the date I set them. Sound familiar Jim ??? LOL

I'll be the one at the bash that is hanging around Jim, the gray haired old man. If that doesn't work look for a fat woman with a limp !!! LOL

Tomorrow I have to try to catch my White Chinese Goose. DH said River my Great Pyrenees got to her somehow. I guess she is fine but I want to look her over good. That ought to be fun. Hopefully her Gander won't intervene.
Just found out my sister and her DH are up at the Cabin in Monico. Guess they are going to go to Makinaw or is it Makinac (I know I am spelling it real bad) Island. Said they've never been there. Neither have and probably never will. LOL
I haven't told her about the horse !! She'd have me committed !!!

Oh and CC, I love it that the chicken wasn't fit or humane consumption. Hope it was Wapun !!!! LOL For some reason MN rings a bell. I don't remember if the prison was in MN or MN border of if they bought the lobster from MN but it definately was lobster fed at a prison. It was within the past 10 yrs. That's why it really ticked me off to read about it. I know they must shop for good prices but I think the homeless would have appreciated that lobster. Just sayin.

Good Cool Morning Everyone! FT I like dead pig chops better than horse liver and baby seal hearts.
gig.gif
Jim I have an antique hand corn planter in my living room that you can borrow. Always wanted to try it. Bigz I hear you on the "wet" part. Went in the garden to weed early yesterday while cloudy ran out of clouds for the last half an hour and came out of there soaked. Vic look for a wise lookin gentleman drivin a Lincoln in a tutu accompanied by limping animal hoarder. With feathers stickin out of her pants.
lau.gif
H&R be careful in the heat! I'm way too familiar with that. GR Good Luck sounds like a real mess. You've made it this far don't blow it now. Something for CS too but it's gone. Got the garden weeded
ya.gif
won't take much now. Going to measure the stupid closet and make a special trip for trim and get the first coat of stain on that and going to sand the coffee table to get rid of the hot coffee marks on there and get that stained too. Need to find some coasters
roll.png

OK, Mother Nature, I am NOT amused!
barnie.gif
Went outside to turn the girls out this morning and I swear it felt like there could be snow in the air, GEEEEESH! We have family stopping by some time this afternoon for for brats, hope they brought their long woolies
big_smile.png
. They are up at their cabin in Crivitz so I guess this turned out to be a good day for them to visit. They sure couldn't go out on the water in this wind. Love to see them but I hope they don't stay too late so we aren't out trying to cover the gardens in the dark.

FT~just so folks can tell us apart, I will be the fat lady with the limp and the grey hair
old.gif

GR~what a cute pudgy pony
big_smile.png

Angy~how is your hen doing?

To all with the ugly lump things
sickbyc.gif
very educational BUT I hope I never find one! BTW~how are the hens doing? Are they still alive? ok?

Now I must find my heavy coat and go clean the coop. Oh well, shouldn't need to water the gardens today anyway. Boy that sure was a short summer even for up here!

Good morning fine friends! I thought, once again, that I would never catch up! Got up early this morning to make DH and DD's lunches...I was just too tired last night! Dh will never make his own and we have no $$ this week so he cant eat out. For some reason all the bills pulled at the same time and we are very low...had to borrow against the Home Equity and I really hate to do that! No shopping for groceries this week...good thing we have plenty of eggs! I just wish the garden was further along....speaking of that garden; I went to pull the salad stuff out because mose is heading to seed now. Guess what I found? 5 turkey eggs! This morning there are 8 so she is still adding...I hope they are fertile and she sits! She tries so hard and has yet to get babies to hatch. THe closest was this past January when 2 pipped but didnt make it out.
sad.png

Not too much going on around here...hoping Carol will come for a ride today...should be a fantastic day for it! Other than that, it is change the beds and hang laundry outside and hope that the birds dont make too many mulberry poop stains! (rotten birds!) Thinking about a beef soup for dinner tonight...cool weather screams SOUP to me! Or maybe a stew?

I suppose I'd better get at it! This is my only day this week so I need to make it good! Have a great one! Enjoy the cooler weather...I feel for those of you looking at frost tonight--sheesh! Doesnt Ma Nature know it's already the middle of JUNE?

good morning? (48 freaking degrees with a breeze!)

I'll be the good looking, older, taller guy hanging around the grey haired gent with the tutu (didn't have it on when I met him, I'll try and get some pics)

treating the flock with some Imonex hopefully get a handle on internals and externals that might be cutting into the laying,,,

chicks are doing fine, amazing the size difference in 1 week old versus these just hatched if time allows the Fools day hatch gets moved today and the brooder shack cleaned and pressure washed for the newbies.

Also need to get the roosters separated, 8 of the 16 week old Marans and should move 4 of the foolish boys with them

Going to do a drench on some of the garden crops, foliar soaking with kelp, humic acid, and molassases. Also need to spray the tators with Spinocad* an organic treatment for Colorado potato beetles, worked well last year. You can hand pick them but 400 row feet takes too much time for me.

also need to get buckwheat planted,,,,,,looking like a big list for this ole guy

bbl (when I come in to warm up)

I love pea fowl. I want one, but don't think my coop is big enough...

Jim, Did the guy I sent to you ever call and get his keets? (Greg) from tech college?

The hat I bought my granddaughter for her first b-day... my son thinks I am a little strange when it comes to my chickens and guineas...
