Hooray on your Lavender Ameraucaunas!

Oops, makes 3 now. But one that was pipped since last night needed help but a little to late. It was a black lav split and was dead.

There is one more that I think was good but hasn't pipped yet. I think I started with 12 or 14 eggs. Not good percentage.
Better then nothing. Now I'm actually hoping for one roo of the three because I have one Lavender Hen already. That would make 4 total.

I can always make Lavender EE's too then.

LLLOW is that it ? (Luscious Lavender Ladies of Wisconsin) is going full speed ahead. Oh but on a sad note the smallest of the two Lavender silkies that hatched died last week. So leaves just one chick. And the Lavender Roo that I already have. And I think this little one is a boy too !!!

I have some black hens so I'll have to breed and get splits first.

Oh and my mixed breed goose egg is chirping and trying to pip. Hopefully by morning i'll have a little one. In that shipment there was also 4 lemon lavender ameraucanas and one hatched. 5 Lavender American Goose eggs, ziltch hatched of them and then there was this mixed breed goose egg. It can be a purebreed of several different geese or a mix but it wasn't laid by a lav am cause it was totally shaped different. That's ok though cause I have one white/brown chinese gosling and one mixed breed from my first pair it can hang with. Guess for the time being it will have to hang with chicks.
My two peafowl eggs were rotten. She sat and sat so I finally took my flashlight and saw the fluid inside. Oh well, maybe next year.
Doesn't look like my sebastapol's are going to lay anymore either. All 5 are in with my mixed pair and they hang together. My mixed goose is brooding some runner duck eggs. Geez what a zoo
Then I have orders for eggs and they quit laying and I see my shells are thin again !!!!! And I have broodys so I guess I will have more chicks hatching out there. That's ok though. They can go in the layer pen. I think I'm loosing more chickens, even roos to predators. Must be the fox again.My light brahma is gone. My polish rooster is gone..........and seems my ameraucana rooster population is down. ??? No dead birds and no feather piles.......... Hhhhmmmmm ?? Fox I'm thinking. Can't wait for 4th of July weekend to see if Home Depot has the landscape timbers on sale.

Ok, time for supper, then I think I might try to sleep tonight so I can actually get something done tomorrow. Then maybe a FFF with sister and bil before they head back to Racine on Sat or Sun.

Hi All...

Sorry for all your losses FT...Predators suck!

Well, I don't know what the deal was, but both broodies broke brood today

The guinea eggs I gave the one were less than a week so not so bad, Young son VOLUNTEERED to clean the coop!

I think he felt kinda bad when he saw I started but can't get it all done in one day

So it should get done tomorrow. He can do that and I'll clean the dishes and other stuff.

Guess that's it... night.

Morning all!
Getting ready to start the day! DH told me he got woken up at 5;15 by his dog smacking him in his head with his paw and then woofling at him. DH got up, thinking that Bud wanted out. Nope! I had left some left over stew on the counter and that is what he wanted! Needles to say, DH was not too happy! LOL!!

Marg-No luck! Can't lend you Discovery of Witches. Darn.....

Well best get going! Gotta go take care of critters and water the parched garden... Oddly my watermelon is growing like gangbusters! Something must be wrong with it...DH picked it out after all!!
I have to say it is a rather pretty plant....

Oh Geez BTB is on the move! I just got attacked!!

morning everyone, ummmmmmmmmmmmm, it's morning right?

We lost power at 8 pm last night and still don't have it back

We had to start up the generator at 4 this morning for the fridge. We went to bed believing what wps said that our power would be back by 2 a.m. We have a small one but it puts out enough power to be able to run the fridge, a light or two and the satellite and the coffee pot of course!!! We just have to switch between the fridge and the big freezer once in a while. I got totally bored trying to stay awake (hubby finally crashed on the couch, poor sweety) and plugged in the modem so I could use my laptop.

Don't trust to plug the desktop into the generator. At least we have the generator (and an older backup one too actually) I just hope the gas holds out. Usually we are prepared well ahead but this time we got caught by surprise.

Just sitting here at my kitchen table watching the girls chase bugs. Boy, they did NOT like being locked up so long and really told me about it when I opened the coop this morning

Two of them (not sure which) stopped laying earlier in the week after I found 2 rubber eggs. But while I was still trying to figure out what was going on, I went out to the coop yesterday and found 4 eggs again

(from my 4 hens). The strangest part is that I do know for sure that one of them that did NOT stop laying was the hen that still has the vent gleet! Go figure

Hope everyone had a good rain and no damage and their gardens are now as happy as mine

Frenchie... I know your world is revolving around the horse thing, but I DID announce I was taking my children to MN for a few days to visit my friend. Jeepers... Listen when the Queen speaks

BTW... I did WIN. Not the pic contest from the Mothers Day Hatch a long. But I won the worst hatch rate prize LOL! I get to pick 2 dozen eggs for fall or spring shipment. I can pick black javas, white javas, buff orpingtons, autumn jabays. Then there are bantams to choose from as well. Not sure what I'll pick! But I'm opting for shipment in the spring to start off next years hatching addiction.

I didn't realize how many animals I had until I leave for a few days and then come back! My hubby did great caring for them all. I wish some of the babies would grow faster so I can put them in with the general population sooner! All learning experiences...
I think I among to make the trip to the TSC in Portage tomorrow. I'll see if it's worth the drive. Right now I pay &19.99 for a 50lb bag of chick feed. That's right in town. That's probably going to be the best bet because of the gas money. But I would like to see what TSC has anyway.

Good Morning Everyone! Bl4 did a long and overdue E to the Army buddies first. So I'm late. I'm movin I'm movin. There's Uncle Joe movin kinda slow at the Junction. Sorry for all the losses and congrats on all the hatches! Didn't get much rain here am thinking about watering but want to look at the map first. Just kissed L good bye and turned on the sprinkler. Woke up to an itchy foot this morning didn't think too much of it but it kept bothering me. Looked between a couple of toes and here was a deer tick. Very very tiny! Going to get set up for butchering tomorrow AM. Last chance people! Decided that I'm keeping Sparky and Babykins. Babykins is mellow and Sparky will be the Australorp blood lines. Hope the reduction will help with Peatwo's stress level. Thought about getting the plucker but think the DD needs to learn old school first. hehehe FT how about taking a case of her favorite beverage over and pull out a bottle and wave it at her? I so do wish everyone would stop talking about all the cute and unusual babies! If I come home from the swap meet with a carrier full of fluff balls DH won't let me in the house
