I just posted on the forum asking if there was something on her record that one would need to be concerned about? Needs to get approved before they will post it. So we'll see what they say.Hey All!
I just wanted to share something before I have to dash...
A good friend who I house/horse sit for, I have done this for the last 2+ years, She has had to have surgery for torn rotator cuffs, and had a broken or fractured rib...
She had a horse, a gorgeous palamino that apparently has a mystery lameness, the vet just cannot find the cause, but its been there for a few years, AND she
foundered (rotation of a bone in the hoof called the coffin bone) it is excrutiating to a horse for a LONG time...
They donated the mare to a local well known theraputic riding center,, .
they had to return her as she came up lame and the vets were very stumped, several hundred dollars later
she could only be a companion, she will buck due to the pain if ridden for any real length of time.
So they waited to take her up the the Midwest Horse Welfare Foundation, a well known and very much accredited horse rescue, they were on a waiting list to bring her there.
Last Saturday they traveled some 3+ hours to get her there by 11 am (per the MHWF) request/demand.
I love checking out their website and forum...
I found that they are totting Cassie (the mare) as a good reliable trail mount, with no mention about her lameness issue, or her previous founder, or that she has and will buck some one off due to the pain.

PLEASE email or call these people Karen at: [email protected] and Scott at : [email protected]
Or call them 715-884-2215.
I just cannot believe they would do this, I am truly appalled.

On this end of "As the horse turns" Dh and I paid a visit to him today. Shockingly he had two pails of water and a bale of hay BUT it was just out of his reach. Not sure if they did that on purpose to feed him later OR since he is tied up and his chain is getting twisted and getting shorter he couldn't reach it. Of course I moved the pails to him and several flakes of the hay. Went to town to check out the Forest Cty 4H swap and it was already closed up. So went to the store and bought 5 lbs of carrots for him.
Gave him a bunch and boy oh boy did he like them. Might bring him more tomorrow. He does look better than a week ago but today he came out of the shelter and I had a good look at him. He definately is thin but his eyes are not oozing any yellow stuff. That makes me feel good.
Might soak up some beat pulp and bring it to him tomorrow with some "weight builder" in it.
TO I like the idea of riding naked but I think it would spook the horses !!!
I would really like to learn to ride without wearing this contraption of a leg. Only problem would be walking when I stop. Need to see if they make fold up crutches ! LOL
Dang weather. I know we need the rain but we were going to plant our garden this weekend. Oh well.
Say, Jimbo, Dan and VickyW, what time are you going to the swap? Jim be prepared if you stop at the ice cream place in Elcho that a triple scoop is $5.25 in a cone and $5.50 in a dish. Butter Pecan was delish !!!
Vic, yep we've eaten at Hills Stills. Very good. Always so busy there on a Friday though. Had lunch at the Log Cabin in Crandon today.
Found two baby chicks in one of my coops today. It was so cute watching my BO mama taking care of them until a Roo came over and jumped her with babies underneath. That did it. In the house they are.
I did a no no and tried to help out my mixed breed shipped Goose egg on Friday. It had been chirping for a day but no pip. So I intervened. Of course the yellow glob (can't remember what it's actually called other then yolk) was still in the bottom of the egg. I thought for sure this little gosling was a gonner but I wrapped paper towel (wet with warm water) around the bottom of the egg and around the gosling. His/her head and shoulders were out. Put it back in the incubator and expected it to pass. Well, the next day it was still alive and I remoistened the paper towel and peaked inside. Guess what, no Yolk !!

Poor little thing is still going to be raised with chicks !!!!
Ok, enough for now !!!
