All the really nasty stuff just missed us to the south but it was really a close call! Hope all of you cheeseheads were as fortunate

Definitely heading for Merry's Berries to pick Sparkles in the morning before the next round of rain, yum! Hope it doesn't get as hot as they are calling for or with this humidity I'll be hosing down the girls

Had to share this little guy from while we were at my in-laws yesterday.....

That is my oldest DD holding him, wearing the camo-fleece jacket the BF gave to her.

We were down dealing with vehicle issue when the storms hit. Missed out on all the fun! Fantastic storm chasing weather and I was stuck at a dealership.

Let the ducks out when we came home and right away Checkers has to be a complete jacka$$ to the babies.... chasing them all over the place and trying to beat them up.... earned him a trip right back to his dog kennel. The little crap though he would take out after me too, I though I might hurt him when I kicked him out of the way. How can a duck with suck a crappy personality make such wonderful babies?????

Off to veg with the hubby......

I found him by almost stepping on him! One of those 'What the...' moments. My MIL HATES snakes, so we had to keep a distance from her while we held it. I released him into one of their meadows....

Don't you just love all that green??? I swear my in-laws feed their plants steroids..... I guess this is why they are the Master Gardeners. I have never known anyone to grow such fantastic plants and not continuously give their plants Miracle Grow....

I should run up by you soon anyway Amy, I know Julie is in need of ducklings and I am in need of getting RID of a bunch! TO, BigFam, you too of course....

Ok, time to attempt to cool off I think. Later all!

Evening everyone

never seems to slow down here these days! Working on cleaning units, getting kids to sports practice or games and paperwork and now they have summer school for the next 2 weeks. Just finished putting straw down on our garden between the rows, we have some beans, pickles, radishes and onions coming up of course we planted a few rows at a time as we could. Hoping this will help keep the weeds down so it will be easier to keep clean and pick the veggies. This hot weather sure isn't helping me. Put in a small patch of asparagrass and a small herb patch too- friends of ours will use some of them. DH also worked up a new area for a strawberry patch-now just to find time to get it planted. Had a short rain fall about 2:30 am today-not sure how much-no raingage.

Welcome to all the new chicks joining us here! Neat pictures that everyone is sharing.

Time to round up the kids and head to bed- tomorrow will come sooner than I want!

Hey guess what? I stil have not had rain. Honest to Pete! I can't believe how it keeps hitting places and not here. Hubby is happy because he hasn't had to mow for a week and a half!

Summer school starts for my kids tomorrow. HOORAY! He!! Yes, I'm ecstatic! Some quiet time mid morning again. They need a schedule and time away from each other. I need time away as well...;). Anyone want to drive to Prairie du Sac and have coffee with me tomorrow morning? :D

I found one of the Ameracauna chicks I bought has a horrible cross beak. Think well have to take care of it. I don't knw hw it can even eat. Seriously... I don't have so many chickens that I should have all sorts of crap to deal with already.

My 2 oldest pullets are 4 months old. When wil they start laying? One of them is a black copper maran, and I've been warned it could be another 3 months on her!! the other though is only an EE. Shouldn't she be getting on the stick here?

If I were to have a southern WI bash here... Could people bring chairs in addition to the dish to pass? Just thinking about how seating would work. Hanging outside would be the thing and I don't have picnic tables like a park would. However I could actually chit chat more since my kids could run n their own place. WHAT?! I could socialize with limited restrictions?! I can hardly imagine....

Oh and Mazo NEEDS me to point out that while the renown Wollersheim Winery is only one mile away from me, there is also a dive bar called the Arb next to it. I usually forget about the Arb, so thanks Joe for pointing out my wretched omission.

FIRST!
Amy ! Your beach is awesome!
Is that a pond that you built? Why is it so blue?!! :D

SECOND!
Hi Cheeseheads
We finally got rain. However it worked against me!!!! It made my phoenixes tails all dirty hahaha. It's so humid all my chickens are PANTING!!!!
My hen who has 20+ chicks decided to roost super high today and stay away from the chicks for the night since it is so hot hahahaha.
However I did get some good footage of them today... Here is a video I just uploaded onto youtube!
Check out my favorite guyyy :p

We had an appt. to take Ramses in to the vet on Thursday, but I changed it to today because he seemed to be breathing a little hard last night. They had to drain fluid out of his chest again, but at least it has been 6 weeks since the last time so that is a little improvement. And he has been playing a bit more lately, so he can't be feeling too bad.

Holy hotness today, Batman! Yuck. I put together an oscillating fan this morning that DH bought for the chickens & put it out in the carport for the chickies & bunny. That helped out some, as did the strong breeze. I also kept bringing out ice & frozen water bottles for the poor babies. Everyone seemed to being doing pretty well this evening when I went to lock up except Jack. He looks fine, but he couldn't make the jump onto the rabbit hutch like he always does. DH showed him the ramp to get up & then he did ok, but he was hanging his head awfully low which worried me. So I had him bring Jack in for the evening. If he looks ok in the morning, I might take him back out or I may wait until this heat wave is over. I'm kinda on alert these days regarding him. My sis told me that the (second) last chicken she had from her first flock had died last week, and Jack is the last survivor. So I guess I'm being a little overprotective, but he is the most awesome little roo (who thinks he's a mommy & does the best job of it). So hopefully it is nothing and he'll be back out with his little brood in the morning.

I hope everyone & their critters are surviving this heat ok. And I hope everyone got a little rain. We sure could use more though! Nice beach, Amy! When's the bash?

Cool looking little snake. We found a little brown one in our barn last year. Sorry I didn't reply to more people, but it gets late so quick & morning comes even quicker. Try to stay cool, and sweet dreams, all!
