Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

A few of you have looked at this on facebook, but I thought this little colt was just breathtaking. It is a Friesian/Appaloosa cross.

Dropped my mom off at the train station in Tomah.... and discovered that my car has hard seats. Well, either the seats are hard or my butt is too tender and I need more padding.

Dr.H, you need to give him water and electrolytes. If you cannot get something like Pedialyte into him, you can make your own electrolyte solution:

I would adjust the recipe to a size you need. Feed him REALLY wet food too when he is ready to eat foods.

I hope he is ok.

Good Morning Everybody! Glad I can say that again. Bl4 thanks for the recipe! He's doing much better this morning

but it's gonna be a long road I think. I checked on him several times during the night and he actually purred once. He got off the scratch pad when I got up at 4 to check on him and he ate the wet food I gave him and a little hard food. He went and looked at the litter box and layed down on the back porch. Think he's gonna make it. Dang animals

Dan been there done that too but it used to be that we were ready to go by the next night. Now if we're naughty it takes a couple of days to recuperate.

Absolutely LOVE this baby!

Great tip about making your own in a pinch. A bit new to the whole chicken "thing" (actually re-thing, not had for longer than I will admit too

)but had furry critters my entire life, even had training and worked as a vet tech in my youngin' days

. Have done the sugar water thing when I run out, but usually have the product below always on hand in my critter emergency kit.

DRH~ I ALWAYS have a bag of ~Sav-A-Calf Electrolytes Plus~ powder around. You can pick it up at your pet supply, feed mill, etc. Only costs $2 and has the shelf life of dirt. Lists right on the bag it is good for just about anything with fur either pre-weaned or adult incl. anything domestic +elk, deer (and pigs). It is the first thing I go to if I have a critter that's been puking, won't eat, won't drink or has just went "down". Honestly, I haven't looked into whether the viable microorganisms are a problem for choots so this reminds me to check into that. Let you know. good luck and keep us posted.

Hi DRH
frow.gif
so glad Bob is doing better! please check my reply post to Babylady4. If Bob is a "senior" citizen, you should really keep some Sav-a-Calf Electrolytes Plus on hand in case (or sadly, when) he goes down on you again. If you can't find it around you, let me know, I can always drop a bag into the mail to you

. Like I said, costs a whole $2.

Sounds like everyone had an "adventurous" weekend

Good Morning everyone. I figured I'd jump on here before heading outside to wash out the pool liner and refill it. I think there is something in the air today lol normally the ducks stays away from the chickens except food time but today they are chasing the chickens around lol. Its about time, those roosters have been chasing the ducks around alot, maybe now the ducks are just getting even lol. Well the weekend came and went and DH didnt butcher the last 4 roosters he was suppose to. Looks like he'll have to do it this week. We wanted them gone before his kids get here this weekend coming up. Both his kids have a form of Autism, anxiety disorders, one has bi-polar with phsycotic tendencies, and both ADHD. So needless to say we dont need to be butchering around them. I really dont look roward to the visit but its only for a couple weeks, well unless his son becomes violent then they will go home asap. So if I'm not on much the next couple weeks you know why ;) . HHHHmmmmm well I guess thats about it, I guess I should find my patch kit for the top ring of the pool. I hope every one has a great day :)

Isn't that little guy gorgeous! He did not stay that dark as he aged, as an adult he is MUCH whiter, but still a beauty!

Had my 6 mo iLasik appointment this morning.... still lookin' good!

Dr.H, so happy to hear Bob is doing better. If he is as dehydrated as you think, don't give him any dry food at all since it will take precious moisture away from his system to soften up in his stomach. Everything you give him needs to be wet wet wet...... Squirrel was getting sardines, tuna, canned salmon.... talk about spoiled rotten! Oh I miss that fat boy so much.....

I suppose I need to get my butt in gear. I've been rotting away here for a little too long.

Morning all!
Dog got me up at 5:00 AM!! I took one look at the clock and went back to bed. They all wanted to hang by the refer since we BBQ'd a rabbit last night for dinner and they wanted the left overs.
Actually I should say to be correct Bubba got me up at 5 and the dogs took over from there. Bubbs got stuck in the blinds....*sigh*

Got another patch of grass all torn up to make another flower bed. I got a great deal on a blue Hydregnea (sp) and I need to get it in the ground. So I made ma little plot and decided I'm going to preen the heck out of the ground and put down weed fabric, plant, mulch and preen the mulch just to be sure. I have another area to do to but that will take more energy then I have today but I have to do it soon so I can get the Butterfly Bushes in the ground.

So I have to go to Maynards for some supplies and more plants....

DrH-BL4 gave you some great advice for Bob. I'm glad he is home.
clap.gif
I agree wet food only.Cats tend to get the majority of their moisture from their food.
Also as another thing you can add to your list of things to give a dehydrated kitty or dog, Chicken Broth is a good one and most people have a can on hand. Give it room temperature. I keep a few cans of Low sodium broth on hand but if you just have a regular you can give that cut with a little water. Tuna water from the can of tuna works great too, but you have to be careful how much "people" tune you give a cat. As a treat once in a while your fine but on a regular basis, there is too much mercury in the tuna for cats. There is "cat" safe tuna and that is fine.
BigFam-I'm going to hunt you down and take those goats....OMG!! Love Love Love them!!!
love.gif
I think you should not have goats because I want them....I think I need your goats...I think I will visit you and "borrow" your goats to much my weeds...and they will magically disappear!! HAH!! JK!! Seriously though, your goats are freakin' adorable!!!

WCc-Adorable parade pic!!! Love the summer themed costume!!! Look like you had tons of fun!!

Well, more to say but I can't remember what and I have to get gone....
Later

Oh! Elaine and Tatters!! Great to hear from y'all again!!! Glad to hear y'all are well
