I was so mild mannered at the Bash even. You should see me wound up! And after a cocktail or two. I am pretty sure I'm having the southern get together here so I can be loud and drink a few... No driving!

I am looking at the fall for the get together. Late September, or first weekend in October I'm thinking...

good late evening,, 7 pages read.. now I am too brain dead to write,, almost..

CC, holes in metal waterer ? get some JB-weld.. even works on plastic.. they make a quick dry one.. can go back to using the waterer in 4 hours drying time..

I waited until after 7 PM tonight and then went down to the garden and did some ***** haulin' tilling. got all the beans, corn, peas, beans and potatoes done.. then as it was getting dark, I came back to the house and sat under the nut tree and cooled off.. only a couple of mosquitoes bothered me.. when it got good and dark, I closed up the birds and came inside..

one of my quails is starting to lay eggs.. 2 so far..

the free ranging birds aren't showing any stress with the hot weather, so far.. egg production is still at 24 per day..

the peahen that was attacked on her nest has started a new nest.. she healed up nicely.. and in the process of us doctoring her, has become quite tame to boot..
the yearling peahen we hatched last year, is almost as large as the older hens..

this morning I got up early and power washed the deck and everything on it.. then after breakfast, I tore the gas grill apart and washed it with tons of degreaser and dish soap ..

nephew came out and wanted to water his garden, so I loaded up the 55 gal drum and hauled water for him.

and I even squeezed in a half hour nap ..

put the goat feed in the duck's pan, the chicken feed in the goat pan and the duck feed in the chicken's pan.. see ? problem solved..

I am going to send this off before I lose it..

Vicki... Ahhh I remember the early Earth Days

Yep green **** with a globe on it. I planted trees and gave out flyers. Glad you got the bags so soon! Good thing we didn't waste any money on faster mail! Sorry some are so dirty but some were still laying around in the coop. Should be easy enough to wipe down though. I think the ones with the chicks will be cute. Hope they all work for you!
Yep, chickens can be so dumb at times... but if the want something they'll sure figure out a way to get it!

krisp... Did the 5yr old take all those pics? Even if he only took the first couple he's doing better than me! My be you should bring him down to do a photo shoot for me!

Bf4m... yep, pop door. I love goats too! I would love to have some... I just wouldn't be able to keep up with them and their shanagins!

(yea, right) Glad you had a good time with the family. LOL... that pic. really didn't do it justice either.... the big snow hit the front of the house but the pictures came out too dark. Had a hard time finding my truck!

Jim... You always sound like you had a big day!

I know it's hard not to worry about your cats, but don't panic for a couple of days. If they aren't fixed, PLEASE get them fixed!... it will also help with the wandering off looking for "love".
The chickens seemed to do OK today. I have Ice ready for tomorrow and the next day. I also have the fan in the coop now too. So glad we have lots of shade for them.

Guess that's it... night all!

Well I am up too early for my first day off, UGH...but I woke up to the pleasant sound of my wandering Simon. So the cat is home! Thanks to all who were concerned.

Now I'll check on the girls and turn the water onto the yard. Since I am up this early I guess I should choose to be productive, right?

Cindlady~It was so funny when the box arrived! I opened it up and had to just let the bags lay on the floor until my little dog and crazy kitty got done totally smelling each and every one!

They weren't that dusty, a quick wipe is all they need. I love the variety! I agree the chick ones should be really cute! Now, a rainy day so I can get one done!!!!

I soooooo miss my goats! Used to have a momma and baby floppy-eared goats that were the sweetest things but boy they could get into mischief! Momma goat (that was her name

)figured out how to open the back door and I would come out of the barn and find her standing in the kitchen! She hated it when she couldn't see any of her humans. Too old to keep up with them now and we are not set up to give them a good life this far north.

The heat is really getting to my ladies already. Not showing any stress, except for "fluffing out their wings, but only one good egg yesterday and one "misfire". Guess it's because they are so solidly black, big, and still not 100%, tho they are all looking better every day, even the one with the "leaky" (pasty) butt.

Got to get outside again and get a few things done before it gets too hot. Can't believe I have to go to town later in this heat, yuch. Oh well, at least the car has air.

Need to get some fence up to hold up the dill. Looked yesterday just two heads are developed but see several more on the way. Got bably maters too! Unless you have a GH like Dan think it will be awhile before eatin season. I see I need to get some cilantro in the freezer it's almost 2' high already. I'm goin further out of my mind. The washer has been ready to go for 2 days now and not one loads been done in it.

Thought L would be all over it the first night. All I'm getting is excuses. I'm too tired, Do you want me to run the dryer? In her defense it's in the utility room and would heat up the house. So I'm gonna fix her I'm movin the dryer to the back porch. Hmmm think I've been manipulated. Don't think I have enough heavier wire to do it. Road trip. Better get the kids some fresh water.

Hot morning all!
Just thought I'd check in. I'm dragging my feet and sipping coffee slowly to avoid going outside. It's like a sauna already...Yuck...
I feel all guilty for dragging this morning taking care of the wee beasties.

Glad to know that some cats came home.

Big Fam-That was your first mistake, thinking that chickens (and goats for the matter) do things that they are supposed to be doing!

Seriously though, you need to goat proof your coop and any place you keep grain. Grain/chicken feed is a goats down fall. They have huge sweet teeth and will do their very best and get very creative and insistent to get into grain. Grain is ok given as a treat or a diet supplement but if they get into grain and pig out they can bloat and a bloated goat is very easily a dead goat. I learned this the hard, expensive, and deadly way....

FT-Glad the horse gets a chance at a better home!

DAS- love your kitty! She is sure pretty! They only thing mine catches is his tail....

Morning! I am SO enjoying my day off!

It is weird to be home with the DH on a weekday morning!

This morning's birthday breakfast consisted of Buttermilk pancakes with blueberries and REAL syrup, our local butcher shop's home smoked bacon, and of course coffee for me! DS keeps asking me for his present, told him he had to wait a little bit.... I picked up a new baseball glove, his first Swiss Army knife, and a little multi-tool. Appropriate for a 10 year old.

Planning on hitting the beach today to beat the heat, and get some laundry done too before my trip.

Sorry I hadn't been on in a couple days. It's been fairly busy around here.

So last night I got home at like 10 P.M. and what did I see? Five coons looking back at me as they sat on top of my gosling's cage. Four of them were babies, and mom ran as soon as she saw headlights, but the babies were so afraid that they didn't move. We got them out of the garage and shut the garage. I should have shot them but I just couldn't. I figure that if the garage is shut up every night, and after I padlock my coop and enclose my run, the worse they can do is get in the garbage.

Good morning--I am doing the same thing as MLH---procrastinating! I find that I do it quite well. I have to figure out how to unblock a person...dont know how they got blocked in the first place! The post didnt show up and told me I had blocked them...sheesh!

So I cancelled my client for this morning..I just dont have the energy to deal with her! It was a 20 min phone call and I told her I wasnt coming in the first 10 seconds! That was almost as exhausting as going and working at her house!

I had a surprise visit from DS23. I got up during the night and the toilet seat was up! HMMMM...that doesnt happen around here so I was wondering WTH? So this morning I thought my daughter was coming down and it was him! I guess he has a few days off of work so he came home to play on the lake with his buddies. (must be nice) Maybe I can get him to carry the air-conditioner into the house? He says this hot weather is going through monday at least so I might just have to break down and bring it in.

The girls and I went to the beach last night...the water was delightful! I slept so good after getting cooled off for sure. We didnt have to take a car to the train station fro DH--I must have misunderstood him and he's not coming in until Friday. He can sit in the station a while and I will pick him up after work....then we can go to the resale tack shop in Columbus and find a brow band and throat latch that actually FITS Commander aka: Senor Long Legs! LOL!

Well I sure hope all of you can keep cool and hydrated...you and critters both that is! I am going to head out and feed and water. THinking about setting up the small sprinkler in the pasture for the ducks and geese...maybe the horses will go in too? Heck, it might even help the grass!
