Good morning folks! I'm laying here wishing to beans I could still be asleep.: at 6:18 I had one child in here, at 6:40 I had another child in here, and at 6:45 I have another child downstairs. Dumb kids... Sleep in for Pete's sake!!,

Della is doing better. Heat exhaustion was part of the problem I think. But no eggs from my 3 layers right now. Poor girls... Too hot.

I has an Australian Spotted duck hatch last night! There is another internally pipped. I Only got three out of 16 to this point. Heat spike in Bator while in Minnesota did most of themin. I guess we'll see if these three hatch....

I bought a new coon trap at FF the other day. I got a BIG b@stard the first night. My hubby said 50 lbs. so minus the fish tale mentality of a man, I'd say it must have been 35-40. I set the trap right by my mini coop to catch him. Last night I set it right by the ducks kenel. Caught a momma. I came out to check the trap last night and there were 3 teen coons around my mini coop, a fourth hiding by the ducks, and mom in the trap. SERIOUSLY have a coon problem here!

Oh oh oh! I got a free, yes FREE, bunny hutch yesterday! A friend of mine posted on Facebook that their bunny died. So she said just pick it up it was mang Tom sad seeing it. This thing can be a great brooder! Or an excellent chicken hospital! Or a broody momma house! Its a bit rickety, so unless I want to rebuild it to make it coon safe, it's going in the garage. But still..., so excited! I'll post pictures soon.

Ok that's it for now. CC, I'll wait on the cage until I get a visit from you and Steve. I'd like to see what he's like in a non drinking environment

I probably shouldn't say this but I AGREE !!!! LOL I told you last year that he looks like an old boyfriend of mine. I kept telling him that he is Italian though and he insisted that he is German !! Good ole Tommy, wonder how he is doing !!!! BigFam your DH is a looker too !!!! These poor guys are going to get a complex at all of the bashes with all of our eyes starring at them !!!! I'll have to pull out my sunglasses !!! lol

Vicky, hate to say it but Red Earth is what FF carries in Antigo and it is half the price you paid....... just sayin.

Here is on of my peacocks strutting his stuff. I don't have the guts to tell him he has a few broken feathers.

The black shoulder peacock is hanging out in the woods. I'll have to try to round him up or try to. But my garden hose isn't long enough. lol

Those are lovely pictures Ft and forgot to saay so glad Cody is doing better and good to see him so happy.

I had poison ivy for the last couple a weeks so been pretty out of it. I am allergic to it. LOL sounds funny but true!!!

Still looking for my extra hen or two. Hoping to get an Aussie but my real wish list is still for a Buckeye or a darker color Chantecler. Maybe someone will be more willing to part with one to a REALLY good home (promise

) closer to fall. I know I am really going to need to expand my little flock by a girl or two if I want eggs this winter.

Surprised my pasty butt hen is doing so well and still laying. Maybe it's wishful thinking but I think she is actually "leaking" less. That said, with the conditions these hens started life in, I would be totally surprised if I have any of them for too long although they will have the best home and care I can give as long as they are here.

Reminds me. A son-in-law recently decided that they wanted a few chickens. They live a couple hours or so south so we didn't know about it til after they ordered their Aussie chicks from a local feed mill even tho they are within driving distance of Abendroth's

(neither of them knows ANYTHING about anything livestock and very little about pets). Anyway, they did get on the internet for info and didn't do too badly with converting an ice shanty into a little coop before their chicks arrived (and then after visiting us, constructed a nice run). They went to pick up their chicks and they were given 10 instead of 8. Ok. One was splayed and they contacted me way too late for me to help and eventually he was able to talk the wife into culling it. Then I find out they ordered streight run (

) because they were cheaper (remember we are talking 8 chickens). Yep, you guessed it, found out yesterday that 9 surviving chickens have now grown into 3 pullets and 6 cockerels

. So much for my idea of talking them out of the "extra" hen. So now his plan is to keep them all, fatten the roos and freezer all but one in the fall. I told him he better split that run and make a broiler pen or those 3 poor little girls won't stand a chance. The end of this story? His wife is the one who wouldn't let him cull that suffering little chick (it couldn't walk more than a step before crumbling clearly in pain) and he thinks she is going to let him put all her pets in the freezer this fall?

I can just see them becoming an old rooster's home!

FT-I'd snap up that Fjord mare in a heart beat! To bad I can't have a horse right now! She sure is a looker. That 4-H Halflinger is nice. I'm not a Halflinger fan. The few I've know were hot, wired and nutty. The one you found though sounds like she is more indicative of the breed.

Dh and I just got back from the movies. Saw the Abe Lincoln flick. Not to bad. Except for the whole vampire thing it was actually rather accurate. Especially in clothes, hair styles, speech, and weapons. At least most of the weapons. There are one revolver that was a about 10 years too soon. It was a S&W Schofield. But over all that is not to bad...I think they needed the revolver more for the scene sequence then the historical accuracy.
I don't remember if the few chickens were accurate though. The few I saw were big black and sorta out of focus.

Other then that, I was just checking in before I feed the dogs..
