Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Another short reply. Headache

Young son let me use a keyboard that plugs into the laptop, so it's awkward but better. Just going to check in.

CC... Dah! I didn't think of a trailer! And I've seen plenty of them too! Matter of fact I saw the cutest thing a few weeks ago! A guy on a big "hog" pulling a trailer (that was opened) And a kid size "mini Hog" nestled inside! Some kid is going to be super happy! I was also thinking "**** they must have money!"

Night all!.... KEEP COOL!

good morning,, I see a lot of good night posts, so I imagine everybody is still in bed.. I was awakened by LOUD claps of thunder. It fit into my dream about it storming and hailing.. perfect baseball sized hail.. the blue ones were circling the lone pine tree in the yard and the white ones were spread out the rest of the way across the grass.. very pretty.. BTW, there really is no lone pine in the yard..

Back to reality,,,,,,,,,TV guy said that we got about 3/4 inches of rain.. I have not gone out to see if there is any damage.. the geese will be happy with their puddles in the driveway refilled..

I guess the way to make it rain is to fill the barrel with intentions of dumping it the next day..

guess I will go make a cuppa and let the birds loose..

Good morning! No Jim--I was up but outside feeding and letting birds out. Some real big clouds out there...I sure hope they contain some rain for us
fl.gif
I think the way to get it to rain is to hang sheets outside to dry...I stripped my bed and got them in the washer first thing...was planning on hanging them out first thing after work! Will have to see if it works....

Nothing new outside this morning--it's still hot! I didnt catch anything with the bread in the traps either. Some of it was gone but not way in the back...figure it was a goose or a mouse.
Well--I guess I've got to git...I want to be at work early to mop the floors etc...talk later and PRAY for rain! Stay cool--drink lots and see ya later! Terri O

morning all!
just a quick "hi" then i am going back to catch up on all the reads I can. Haven't been on since sunday night. Roadtrip to my Oncologist in Green Bay which pretty much kills the day, home in time to get the girls out of the heat for a while, do chores and then the storms hit. Been without power since midnight. Running on generators since 5 a.m. Laptop battery won't hold out too long so I thought I would post first and then go back and get caught up on the PAGES of stuff I missed. Responses to all when our power is back.

Try to stay cool and take care of our critters everyone!!!!

forgot to mention, 3.5" + in the rain gauge (a lot of it horizontal so it didn't get in the gauge), no flooding, at least on our property, lots of wind and at least one big tree blown to pieces, but every human and critter ok, and no hail so the gardens survived. Thank you Lord!

Morning all!!
Got half the critter chores done. The Girls got their waterers scrubbed out good. They seemed none the worse for wear and let me know that they wanted something. Not a clue as to what since they had feed and fresh water.
Have to water the garden yet. I also need to soak the ground in a few spots so I can plant the trees I bought.

Got the flower beds watered and the container tomatoes too. Scrubbed out the birds bath and I need to fill feeders yet. The rabbits were feed and waterers topped off last night so I'll go down later and check on them. I have to fix a few things in the Doe Domicile. Not anything big, just rig up some wire holders for their food dishes so they stop tossing them around.

Planning on going to Jack and Dicks feed today to pick up more rabbit food since I'm almost out and some more shavings.

Gracie has a vet appointment today. She has been scooting her butt on the carpet pretty bad. No worms so I think she needs certain glands seen to. Once they do that hopefully she will stop scooting.

Looks like rain is coming....Don't want to say much so I don't have my hopes crushed. Dh and I passed a field of soybean outside of Janesville last night and most of them were dead. I felt sorry for that poor farmer....

Well, best get the bird feeders filled before I have to leave for the vets.
Later Gators....

Oh Welcome Bandit!! Wyandottes and Australorps are great breeds. Also check into Plymouth Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, and Delawares. If you want green eggs try the Easter Egger (some hatcheries list them as Ameruacanas). EE's are not super great layers like the other breeds mentioned but they are fun to have. TO (Terri-O) has some great birds so hopefully she can help you out!
However, if you want to get hatchery chicks, try Abendroth's Hatchery in Waterloo, WI. He has the basic breeds that are perfect for you. You can pick up chicks the your order at his hatchery instead of having them shipped. This is a nice option since it saves the chicks from being stressed out going through the USPS system.

RAIN!!!

Didn't catch anything in the traps. Managed to lose a SLW. They bit it's crop open through the wire of the rabbit kennel. So, once again, we have to upgrade. we are going to have two layers of wire that are about 2" apart to hopefully eliminate them getting killed like that again. We just keep teenage chicks in there, but still, it needs to be upgraded. As of right now, we are on the losing end of this war

OK gonna try again. Web was up but BYC gave me grief. Glad some of you got rain but 3.5 + WOW! We had dark clouds and wind but that was it. The dill survived. Not going to come up short this year. Am so jealous of you guys eatin broccoli already! Got some wire screen put on one of the coop windows so I can leave it open till the snow flies. With the exhaust fan in there should keep the kids happy at night. Should really buy another one and put it in the attic where the other was supposed to go. But the dang clucks came first. Guess Babykins is tired of Sparky's crap. Was just watching him stand up for himself. Of course Peatwo breaks them up so they move off and start all over. They get it out of their system and are buds the rest of the day. It's funny to watch the poults they stay away from them and hover around Peatwo for protection. Bigz just like so many things these days don't like the store bought relish. Have given some to people and no one cared for it. Guess they don't like the salty sweat that went in it.

City people. Still can't thank you enough for the dill seed!

Since I moved into the other garden it has really done great, think it was the soil in the other one. It was dirt that came from a cranberry co. Pretty much dead soil. Have half a water melon rind in the Norge for the kids this aft L's picking up another today. Thinking maybe I'll play er work with the tractor next year and put in a patch out front. Their on sale for the fourth for $4. I could eat one all by myself EVERYDAY! Didn't water last night and checked, the ground is plenty wet under the barrier.

Found out why we probably had the coon the other night. Seems they like the bags of garbage the neighbor saves by his door. I could rant for hours about that stupid SOB! I'd better go before I get too wound up. Oh too late! Stay

everyone!

Recharged so I'm back, and bored! Not much else can get done when you are babysitting generators and running on no sleep

Getting too old for this stuff, geesh. WPS still won't give us an eta on when to expect our power back, so hubby's making another gas run. By all the ground strikes there were near us, my guess is at least one, maybe more transformers got fried. Crandon is not that far from us and they are a mess! 8-10+ inches of rain for them and a lot of wind damage and flooding
hide.gif
We could stand on our back porch and watch the "light show" that literally went on for hours because this huge storm parked over the Crandon, Wabeno area and didn't move!
ep.gif
That one missed us except for some wind and a few sprinkles but that was only round one. That one finally moved out then around midnight we got hit as well as them and that's when we got all our rain because it basically roared the rest of the night. Poor Crandon even reported a lot of golf ball sized hail!

Wish I knew how long we are going to be off the grid, I really need a shower!
barnie.gif
If we are still without power after dark I have a nice clean rainbarrel all full of fresh clean rainwater all picked out

OK, I like hot weather, but tonight I have to admit,, I am uncomfortable.. tomorrow the window AC is going into my bedroom..

All my great projects went out the window today.. the lawn mower tire is still floating in the tub. the deck is still on the mower, and I stayed in the house.. had a chef salad, drank some lemon ade, and ate ice cream..

the Ace hdwe store in schofield used to be a Blaine's.. I still call it farm and home.. or was it farm and fleet ? It really doesn't matter, I hardly ever go there..

I sprayed the chickens with a fine mist for a bit.. some ran like it was acid, but some seemed to like it.. the puppies didn't quite know how to react. they really didn't seem to mind, but seemed like they would rather I didn't do that..

I think I will skip my glass of wine tonight and drink a couple of brewskis instead..

hang onto your hats,, it'e going to be a bumpy ride for the rest of the week.. I have a barrel of water waiting to go to the garden.. first thing in the morning project..

.........jiminwisc.........
Ahh... I see, it's an Ace Hardware now. When I moved here it was called Farm & Home something.

Woke up to a thunderstorm here around 5:00 am, ended up with a 1/2" of rain and the power was out for awhile. DH was a little late for work, didn't want to take a cold shower. lol

Was just out checking on the birds and it's not too bad out yet, only 78 but it will be climbing up around 90 again. At least I won't have to water the garden today and the misters should be here soon. I think the birds will like those!
