So, upon inspecting my SLW's today... Out of the 9 I have left, I have one maybe 2 pullets, and the rest are roo's. >.>

Just saw Aesops Fables with my blonde dimpled 6 yr old in it. The only boy in a class full of 20 girls. I'm sure he charmed a few of them. summer school play, short and sweet. Next I go to the 13yr olds play, A Midsummer Nights Dream. Lucky for me, the 3 yr old sat good in the stroller for the first play, let's hope and pray that the case for the second!

My birds are really sucking at laying right now. I'm not getting any eggs from Della sine the shelless one. The Dominique apparently has decided egg laying is for the birds. The EE pullet laid one a few days aGo, but nothing since. The BCM has given me 4 in about 8 days, not bad. And the barnyard mix does a pretty good job at every other day. Kinda funny to still buy a dz eggs each week when I have 40+ birds here...

Thinking I'm kicking a group of birds into the main flock Sunday. Then I can let the inside coop brooder empty for a week, before moving icies and guineas into it for the "viewing" period before they are thrown in wit the flock. Has anyone else noticed guineas smell worse that the regular chickens? Is it my imagination?

Better go, gotta get to the next play.

Congrats on the horse BBP. I hope it works out. In the least you can train up the baby for your son when it grows up?

Not much going on here, need to spif up the house this morning for company this afternoon~yesterday I weeded the garden and watered everything I could. Ate some peas and 2 beets from the garden last night. Yummy! I tried growing some malabar spinach but it is still very short, Its time for me to plant my cold fall crops~think I will do that next week. My chickens ate all of my strawberries this year so I didn't get any of those. Maybe next year.

I sold a couple of bantams the other day it looks like they are going to a wonderful home. They were some of my favorites but there was a teenager and her mom and they were so nice I figured I better let them go to her because I knew they would have a good home. It is already getting to be the time of year where it seems a bit harder to sell them. I may end up having to cull some of my roosters it such a shame they are so beautiful. But my landlady said I can only have 20 and with 13 silkies that doesnt leave much room left. It is probably a good number for me and I was planning on downsizing anyway but it feels a bit different when ya get an edict from above. (almost especially so when your planning on doing it anyway)

Dan, I thought the same thing about the rabbit sh!t.. what a waste to toss it into the dump.. It makes excellent fodder for a worm bed also.. I read somewhere that a guy made a worm bed directly under his rabbit hutches,, multi tasking for sure..


Annie just ordered a dozen purple guinea eggs from a hatchery..

My niece was just over, and when it started to rain, she ran from across the property to the house, my gosling following her the entire way running after her with it's wings flapping xD If only I had a video camera.
