Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

FT-thanks for the update on your hubby. I hope the both of you can get some uninterrupted sleep!

I found out shortly after getting the chicks that my throat would get irritated after cleaning out the litter. I don't know if I am allergic to the pine shavings or just the bird excrements, but I am really careful not to breathe in any of it! FT- do you use pine shavings for everything (chickens, parrots, etc)?

TO- Well I'm all the way down in rock county xD Here's what I'm looking at from my porch

Now it's way darker xD Lost power all ready. This is round 2 of the storm
Cool pic Twizzle!

Those Blue Andalusians are pretty too MLH. Is Ben a Wellsummer? The kat Bubba is super cute. I wish I could get a cat but I am allergic.

FT you could build an addition on your house, aviary/solar greenhouse and keep the parrots out there with a glass door between them and the house

Mine are big beauties from Sandhill preservation center. I bought them to breed with the lavenders, but I have decided I no longer want to breed lavenders. I'm not sure I want to breed anything anymore. I may still do the cochins and I'm contemplating keeping a pair of Barnevelders. They are beautiful birds. I just don't understand how I can breed a lemon blue cochin hen to a brown red roo and get about 30% white chicks. One or both must be carrying white genes.

Sounds like you have more questions than answers FT! I hope all results come back soon and straightforward. I hear ya on getting no sleep in hospitals. When DS #1 was born at ThedaClark, I couldn't wait to get outta there. Constant checking and noise. We left less than 24hrs after the birth and they were not too happy with us. 'Stay and rest' they said; what rest, I'd like to know!?

The hospital experience made Cartman's homebirth all the sweeter.

I just came in from a coop check, and witnessed a 2.5month old Jaer cockeral chick mate a little pullet chick. They are barely half grown. And he knew exactly what he was doing, with proper form.

Hafta keep my eye on that one, feisty little bleeper.

Ordered feed today, and the price jump has me looking over the flock and deciding where to downsize. Some 2 year hens will have to go. Stupid rotten drought.

I don't know about you, Amy. What kind of racket you running up there? First you're doing battle with guineas, now you've got some adolescent misbehavior happening? You got some 'splaining to do? Hmmmm, missy??????

That was an awfully cute story about Mary Poppins, Vicki. I think we are all wishing your DH would have been around to have taken a pic of you. Nothing wrong with spoiled chickens, in my opinion. Unless they were in the fridge.

DrH, how is your cat doing? Sorry, but I can't remember his name.

I remember the chubby one is Taz, though.

cs, I'm sure Stella is just doing exactly what Tiki said: she's squatting for you like she would for a rooster. My hens sometimes do that when I come up to them. Nothing to worry about.

Kristi, my Dom mixes started to lay as early as 13 weeks, my Aussies were 18 wks, BOs were 21, I think my lav orps are laying and they are 20 weeks. You have some roos? They should help you to know which girls are "mature". HTH

Twiz, I think I forgot to mention it, but that storm pic is really nice, and what a beautiful view!

FT, thanks for the update on ET. I sure wish they had more news for you. I hope you both can get some decent sleep now.

We had a beautiful cool morning down here. Nice and damp!

Now we just need a week of that weather. Looks like I'll be weeding gardens today and catching up on laundry. Hope everyone has a great day!

Well I guess this it it? Stella laid her 2nd egg today. I will not bore you daily about her one egg per day. However, I will let you all know when the other two start laying

Anyways, I am babysitting a dinosaur for 4 weeks. Its name is T-Rex and she is a parakeet. My cats and dog are itching to get at the cage hanging from the ceiling!

Good afternoon! I am home from work and my legs are killing me! I hear ya on the dampness factor drH! I am waiting for a person that is coming to buy ducklings, hopefully she has more sense in person than during texting or phone calls. Didnt remember anything I told her. OK, they're here...
Well--that was interesting! SHe bought 3 and I sent a little one home as an extra...her friend that came along was definitely drinking LOTS....I almost got a buzz standing next to her! I was glad the girl was driving. So I hope she does OK...first birds she has owned and taking them to her (and her parents') house. "well, I'm 18 so I can do what I want."

Yeah, that was me!

Frenchie...I guess the good thing is that you didnt get BAD news...gotta look for the silver lining in a situation like that for sure! I hope you get good news soon.

Cind you didnt say how they were going to fix your well situation...do theyhave to dig up your floor? Maybe in that case it would just be cheaper to dig another well in a more accessible place? THink of the resale...just because your inspector didnt catch it doesnt mean it wont be caught in the future! (and you might have to do it or have it done anyhow)

I am jealous of your tomatoes Brent? Vicki? I actually have eaten one from my garden and the rest are no where near ready! The zucchini are starting to come though....

Time to make some supper...later! Terri O

The guy came to look at the well today. He's going to crunch some numbers and give us some options.
idunno.gif
Cind, you really should call at least 2 other places to get more estimates/options. Someone might even know an organization that gives assistance in your situation. It couldn't hurt.
