Kristip, the Ball canning book has a recipe for dilly beans.

On my second cup of java, then I am going to follow BigFam's example and take 3 of the 4 kids school shopping (yes I know I am late, been busy). Usually I do this by myself to save myself from the headache that is sure to follow...... no such luck this time!

I just logged in to the parent portal of the school website..... what a pain in the *****! NOT user friendly at ALL! They want parents to use this, then they should let the parents go log in themselves and get everything set up themselves.... not get some jumbled username and password and then jump through hoops to change them to something a person might remember..... I cannot make one lump payment to the school for registration fees, the site wants me to make individual payments for each kid....

it is about as useful as the city telling people they cannot own a Hippo!

Rant over..... it is times like these when I want to homeschool! My friend is using a virtual school this year..... I can't wait to see how it goes for her.

I better get moving so my kids get ready before 11!

lurk lurk lurk.... coffee, chickens are all still alive and although I have 3 roosters in one stall for QT with their hens (1 is KristiP's), they are all getting along fairly well.
work, nice weather, laundry, plans for garden next year near the house to fully utilize the grey water from the sump that is pumped to this one section in the lawn.

more work on mons and tues, my "labor day" is just that.. labor... bleh

My cat has taken to urinating on clothes and towels on my bathroom floor. This is also the cat that cleans her butt by sliding it across my bedroom carpet. Today I noticed crystals in the urine she left on my pants. I had finally decided to have her put to sleep, but I guess canned cat food and water other than ours low PH tap is in order.

Do you just preserve the dilly beans like a pickle? Or is there a special process? Going to do some this week

yes we make a brine similar to dill pickles, I use the one in the Ball blue book of canning.

went through and pick the rest of the cucumber as the plants were starting to die. Are you wanting some medium to large cucumbers kristip?

sounds like a urine infection. we had a cat, many years ago, that did that. good luck

School supply shopping done! I was happy to see that I was not the only sucker who waited the last minute to get supplies....

I AM SITTING DOWN NOW! No more than dried my hands from getting the relish dishes done and the phone rang. It was that friend of mine that I helped with the rummage/moving sale saying they'd be in town shortly if I wanted to pick up my saw horses and the mircowave I got from them. Again it was a trap.

Came home with a lot more than planned but in my defense it was all good stuff, it always is. Helped haul stuff to the curb, 90% won't be there by garbage day. Am going back within the next couple of weeks to haul stuff to Goodwill. Ended up with 12 pints of relish

plenty for me since L doesn't eat it. BBP yup sounds like an infection. Trip to the vet ahead. WCc don't know about the regs in your area but here we can't dump our gray water. We have holding tanks and are very mindful of the water and where it goes. I plead the fifth.

After unloading my new found treasures I went out to get eggs. The other red hen that hatched from TO's eggs [not broody B] had just laid and I thought she was being raped when I took the wet egg. OMG never heard such a fit as that and I have heard quite a few bad ones.

Hey All! Sitting outside with a "coke" and my puter...nice breeze and not a cloud in the sky...AAHHHH! Actually I cannot believe that I am enjoying the yard and not working in it. DH asked if I did anything with the plums..."nope." With the pears? "Nope." I just pick a few and eat them myself....feeling like the Little Red Hen here I guess...Chickens provided a scruptious breakfast that we all enjoyed after unloading hay this morning.
Funny story: I woke up about 4 AM and went outside cause I thought I heard chickens alarming...so I am walking back to the house and I see someone lurching down the road. I decided to hang out and make sure that the person wasnt going to cause any trouble with the cars etc...a bit later said person is coming down my sidewalk. It is my son coming home from his friends' house. (I have on a white nightgown) He comes up the walk and gasps and says, "Geez Mom, I thought you were a ghost!" I asked it I scared him sober. After I got in bed I couldnt go to sleep because I was laughing so hard wishing that I had jumped out at him! (it is still making me laugh!)

So my DH's rooster is ailing (the one from you H&R) Here are pics. ANy ideas?




Sorry for the blur but I was holding him up and getting the pic with the other hand. He has a marble sized swelling under his beak. His eyes look better today. No foul odor like Coryza has and today he is eating. ANy ideas???

I am eating it tomorrow...gotta be a double yolker...never saw a blue one this big!
